No offence to Allure, but it's not up to Mariah to keep you in work. She gave you the original opportunity. What you do with that opportunity is all that matters. Don't be a victim and reel off every bad thing that happened. Everyone said Mariah would never work again when she divorced Mottola and again when she was dropped from Virgin Records, but she went on to win loads of Grammys with The Emancipation of Mimi! When one door closes, you look for another one that's open or buy a sledge hammer and open it yourself 👀

I strongly disagree. The whole purpose of being under a label is so the label works for you and you are just performing the work like that is the whole purpose of a label to get the jobs and book the jobs for you that is what manager and labels are for like are y’all serious? It was exactly Maria‘s job to get them work.

Tommy Mottola shelved them, bc Mariah didn't wanna be with him anymore. Simple as that. He wanted to even ruin Mariah's career. But she still managed to sell another 50 millions albums from 1997 - 2009. So, it didn't work. But he tried. That's fucked up bc Mariah really took interest in them. I don't think Mariah should've ignored them tho. lol.

While Mariah's contributions to the group were undeniably significant, it’s crucial to consider the context of her personal life during that period. At the time, she was navigating a tumultuous divorce from Tommy Mottola, her ex-husband, who actively sought to undermine her career. This backdrop of personal strife coincided with the group’s signing to a label under Sony and their ongoing tour. Unfortunately, the first major repercussion of this challenging chapter was the group’s deal with the label, which ultimately led to their disbandment. This scenario is a common narrative within the music industry. When a major artist faces contract issues, it can leave their supporting acts vulnerable and uncertain about their futures. A poignant example is Jermaine Dupri, who experienced a similar fate when So So Def dropped him. His artist, Fundisha, had a standout track titled "Pull a Left Eye," yet she too saw her opportunities diminish as a result of the surrounding turmoil. Those fortunate enough to have a burned CD of that song know just how talented she was. This cycle of disbandment and lost potential is a harsh reality in the industry, often leaving artists feeling disheartened. Despite these challenges, I’m glad to see that the group persevered and kept the music alive. Those girls had incredible talent, and I couldn't help but dance when I heard your tracks. However, Mariah's choice not to mention the group in her book likely reflects her desire to close a chapter of her life that was filled with difficulties, allowing her to heal from the situation. Unfortunately, this meant that you all were caught in the crossfire. Nevertheless, like Mariah's song suggests, you made it through the rain, overcoming numerous obstacles. Stay blessed, for you have undeniably left your mark in the R&B landscape of that era.

@@diamondseries7221 I listened to the story correctly. That’s why I know that after Mariah, they never were as successful as they were when they were under her. If they were hot 💩 like you’re saying, and she was just jumping in, they should’ve been able to have some success without her. And like you said both allure and Mariah had their fair share struggles, but Mariah steel managed to stay relevant and successful. When Mariah got them, they were no one, and she managed to build them up nicely, get them charting, and have high profile collaborations, and they would’ve kept getting more successful. Had Mariah was able to keep managing them. Their downfall really started when they were not under Crave anymore even tho at that point they were somewhat proven to have potential so at that point it should’ve been even easier for them to succeed.

@TheUrbanGentAOB2 ай бұрын
No, it definitely wasn't on the level of their major label releases, but it wasn't a bad album. Obviously it was an indie album without a big budget, but there are several solid songs on Chapter 3. Music is subjective and we all like what we like, but to call the entire album "bad" would be quite the reach. Adjust your major label album expectations and listen unbiased.
@JamaicanFlava2 ай бұрын
@@TheUrbanGentAOB I agree! I think the first half of that album is really strong while some of the songs the 2nd half of the album could've been reworked or left off the album. Songs like Long Lost Love, Bitter Sweet, Hate 2 Love U, & Let Em Go could've been hits if they had mainstream backing. My biggest issue with their 3rd album is that Linnie (Hem-Lee) isn't on it has she was my favorite member and I love their harmonies as a quartet. But they still were able to pull off solid vocal performances as a trio.
@TheUrbanGentAOB2 ай бұрын
@@JamaicanFlava Well said. I agree with you 100%. I also missed Linnie being in the group. They lost their 1st soprano in the harmony when she left.
@JamaicanFlava2 ай бұрын
@@TheUrbanGentAOB They've actually never truly lost their 1st soprano in the harmony as back in the day both Lala and Linnie have swapped between singing 1st & 2nd soprano. Lala still sings it til this day. Shoot as a trio, Alia has even sung 1st soprano sometimes when they sing a live acapella. BUT it's not the quite the same without Linnie & it's a shame a reunion might never happen...
@TheUrbanGentAOB2 ай бұрын
@@JamaicanFlava I never viewed Lala as their 1st soprano, but instead their 2nd soprano. Linnie just had a much softer voice than Lala, but Lala had more power, in my opinion. Linnie also had a strong falsetto.
