Pounded yam is Nigerian not Ghanaian. In Ghana our fufu is made from plantain and cassava and is eaten with soups not stews (like egusi for example) a few similarities possibly, but very distinct.

When I saw this, it kind of reminds me of the other food I had Ethiopian food is definitely like this. You take your sponge bread they give you at the restaurant and then you grab your other food with your sponge bread and it is so good this food remind me of it and it looks so good. I myself am central African and we also have fufu and I have a lot of friends who are from other parts of Africa (other than western parts) and they all told me that they also have. The difference is the kind of flour that is used.

Fufu isn't necessarily pounded yam. Pounded yam is an entirely different dish (which looks just like fufu). Some call it fufu. But fufu is originally made from pounded cassava. Fun fact: Pounded yam is a much more elite dish than fufu in Nigeria and West Africa.
