Before trying fufu became a TikTok trend, my Nigerian friend took me to an authentic Nigerian restaurant to try fufu and various stews. Before we arrived, I was already in the mindset of being open to a new experience... from the way the staff would treat me, restaurant atmosphere, food wait time and the way this ancient, sacred food from another continent would taste. When the food finally arrived, I was overwhelmed with joy to be experiencing an array of new flavors. Then, when I later saw people on TikTok gagging when trying this food, it broke my heart. We need to teach our children and each other how to be more receptive of how different other cultures are. People need to understand what is “normal” in a community’s general taste preferences completely depends on our environment, so “normal” is completely subjective. In order to argue that something is objectively “normal,” the subject matter must concern health. If you try Nigerian food and think it’s “gross” or “weird,” consider keeping your limited opinions to yourself. It’s a bad look to comment on other cultures based off of your preference of taste.

It is very disrespectful to video yourself spitting out other ppl's food. They are not fools they are plain uncultured, and undisciplined and with no values or good upbringing.

Sister madam you nailed it. Never tried egusi stew with fufu. Looks absolutely delicious. There is an interesting technique used in taking a piece of the fufu before dipping it in the soup. Thanks my beautiful and eloquent master chef #NumberOneFan

I know right! It is an unusual combo that works 👌👌 the fufu must be firmer that usual though 😂😂🤣🙏❤️

I can't wait to make this for myself. I was engaged to a Nigerian years ago and his family spoiled me with the best foods i've ever had. Too bad he was unfaithful, I was really excited to marry into the family. Thank you for sharing! I think I'll try with Callaloo leaves as that's how it was served to me and I loved it. Will look out to see if you have a goat stew recipe and maybe some Gari recipes. xoxo!!

I've always wanted to learn how to make fufu because it reminds of my 3rd grade teacher who had brought fufu and okra stew to school so we as kids can enjoy it. Boy, was it good!!! Here I am twenty years later, still craving some more Fufu and okra stew to enjoy. Amazing!!!❤

This seems hella similar to our dish, in Mexico we call it, Pipian!!! I highly recommend it to everybody 😊

Maybe both dishes originated from the same place - Africa.

Thank you, Sister Madame, for your Egusi Soup recipe! My wife cannot take spice, but my son and I love it and cannot wait! Also we have a few good African grocery stores around here for stockfish, herring, etc. I already have all the ingredients except the herring. I will try this soon and let you know how it went. Thank you again! :)

I have never had it before but when I see African dishes that bread piece is always there and I ALWAYS want to try it! I don’t know the name of it so I just call it “that little bread thing” 😂
