Hey y’all! I just wanted to give a quick update on my relaxed hair. It has been 7 months since I received a relaxer touch up. Also I cut some of my hair by mistake while taking out my braids . I am actually considering going back natural. Anyways I hope you all enjoyed my video! Thanks for watching.

*CORRECTION* this video was actually recorded in September so that would make me 4 months post relaxer in this video. As of now (December) I am now 7 months post relaxer.

Your hair is pretty much natural now with straight relaxed ends. You’ve grown out the relaxer at this point. It doesn’t sound like your hair dresser is actually taking care of your hair when it was in the relaxed state. It’s not her choice wether she likes your hair relaxed or not if you want it relaxed it’s her job to help you maintain that not to make you go back natural. I got my hair relaxed a few days ago & my hairdresser has been so helpful in making sure I know exactly how to maintain my relaxed hair. Do you plan to cut off the straight ends and continue being natural or do you plan on going relaxed again ?

Hey! I would say probably 80% of my hair is relaxed. Probably not the best video to see it. To shorten the video I did cut out most of blow drying process. But yes you’re right it definitely is not her choice to decide. I do think it’s time to get a relaxer touch up tho. If I was to cut all of my relaxed hair . I would have a lil Afro lol

Your video is really nice. My own issue is just that I tried to keep my hair unrelaxed for months but any hairstyle I keep on plaiting within those periods it gets rough very quickly Is there any idea on what I can do or use because my hair has been damaged a bit by relaxer but I want to stop using it for a while.

@@ENIOLADUROJAYE I recommend putting your hair in single plaits for 3 - 6 months! Thats what I did because my relaxed hair was breaking and getting really thin. So at the end of summer I decided to put it in a protective style. It’s been 6 months and I just went to the hairdressers this evening to get my roots relaxed. My hair is much better since giving it a break !

Hello, you're so beautiful. Your beautician is doing you a disservice. You can not let you relaxer go that long. You'll typically experience breakage at the line of demarcation. You are basically natural now with straight ends. I think the braids are a good idea!

Hey! I actually haven’t experienced any breakage yet. I still do deep conditioning , protein treatments & moisturizing/ sealing my hair. It’s actually been pretty manageable. But I agree, it’s definitely time to get a relaxer touch up.

Also since on average hair only grows about a half inch a month so if I have about 3 1/2 inches of new growth . I think I’m still considered relaxed.

I found out the reason the relaxed ends become weaker and thin when I stretch my relaxers longer is that the natural oils from our scalp only reach the natural hair, it cant reach the relaxed hair so the relaxed ends get neglected to lead to thin hair, compared to natural hair.
