I’ve never hammock camped and that’s partly due to the sleeping position I’ve always presumed you’d need to assume. This looks to solve that and does appear comfortable. More a suspended tent than a hammock, I like it. Cheers Mark

Hi Oscar, I have the xl Haven, at 72 it needs to be easier! Had a couple of problems with mat closing up and shifting, I'm thinking about getting heavy duty self adhesive velcro to fix the mat to the hammock base ? It does need a bit of tweaking but I'll work it out. Great vids mate .Cheers jv

Hi Oscar, Alex here from Derbyshire. I’ve seen you loads on Daniel’s channel so thought I’d give yours a go. I instantly saw you have the Haven. Congrats. It’s good to see someone else English who has one. I’ve had my XL for a year now & used it many times. I’m 6ft 1 and an average dad bod build - I got the XL for the extra length and to spread out - however I think because I’m not a larger stocky bulky guy I should have got the standard - not the XL. I absolutely love the product but because I’m slimmer I have to have the pad inflated to the max or I get a V crease all the way along the middle of the pad. This causes the pad to be rock solid and makes it then uncomfy to sleep on. But if I deflate a little I then get the V crease and it scrunches my shoulders in. I’m going to try the pad cover they do to see if it will give me a bit more cushion padding - if that fails I’ll get the standard size one. They say bigger stocky people will fit the XL properly as their weight and size will fill the pad properly. But slimmer people should get the none XL - but I’ll have to sacrifice that lovely extra width… I love the flat lay and the space & that it’s an all in one water proof solution with just a couple of clips it’s up and running. Just a slight tip to you - be careful that your backpack doesn’t lean any weight on the spreader bars - I’ve seen people pull on them or have excess weight in them and it’s caused the poles to bend. Just make sure the backpack isn’t resting on them. Have subscribed - cheers.

Wow.. what a comment. Love the Haven literally slept like a log friday night! Yeah im gonma grab the pad cover and ISB lights i think. Ive git the XL as im 15 stone. But broad! No issues so far. Some things im going to do. As i love to tinker with stuff. So watch out for that. Ps sorry for late reply. Got a premiere out tonight. 8pm UK

Alex, I have an EX and use the Thermarest Mondoking 3D self inflating pad in it. Fits great and has a bit better thermal rating. Since I use the Haven for car and motorcycle camping thats not a problem.

Not a fan of the rain fly, I like a big fly so I have a good size admin area. That being said the units own rain fly with an additional larger rain fly would be great, use a larger fly to keep the rain off and the units own fly to keep the wind off by dropping one side or the other or both depending on wind direction 👍👍👍cracking review as always

I have both the Haven XL and the Helsdon. I love the Haven but prefer the sleep in the Helsdon, plus it doesn't need a special pad and it's cheaper. It is also far easier and quicker to set up as the Haven straps are a bit short and the pad needs to be fully inflated. (I use a $10 K-Mart foampad with the Helsdon) Nonetheless, the Haven is the better ground setup and good for lounging around on. It is also very neatly packaged and fits in my Australian Army AUSPack easily.I do like the very handy pockets,. I also found Derek very easy to deal with and a genuine gent. My original hammock was a superb custom built Goshawk from Tier Gear in Tasmania and it will be a shame to move it on but once you've slept in one of these (Haven or Helsdon) you can't go back. I'm keen to see what your tweaks will be.

I have the HAVEN XL too, and I mostly like it. But I have to confess 1 thing: That sleeping pad is not insulated by anything else than air. There is NOTHING inside it. Thats not what I would call insulated. What would be a non insulated pad then??? I feel cold from below when using this pad at temperatures below about 7-10 °C.
@OscarOutdoors22 Жыл бұрын
Really... ill have a look in the pad... that doesnt seem right. I was out in -3 i think and slept warm.... How long have you had it?
@silvermagic1 Жыл бұрын
@@OscarOutdoors22 I have spent about 5 nights in the summer with no problem of course, and some testing about 5 to 7 °C where i felt cold from below. The difference may be that im using down sleeping bags, they dont insulate from below. That should be the task of this "insulated" mat. You can check at the inflation whole, i wasnt able to see or feel any kind of insulation material inside.

Air is a great insulator, maybe try overinflating
@Notagain6408 ай бұрын
@ShaleAudio air is only a good insulator if it's prevented from moving with baffles, down or something similar. Hollow tubes with nothing else tend to have an R value of about 1.8, summer use only.

It's a good product, but it requires some tweaking. We are not completely straight at night, although much more comfortable than in a simple hammock. The head part needs to be at least 20 centimeters above the other side. To avoid squatting in the middle due to the weight of the body, I had to make some straps to keep everything straight and it worked. I have a good night's sleep, completely straight and warm. Easy to assemble, but a little heavy. Good to be transported by car and not exactly as a form of camping.
@OscarOutdoors222 жыл бұрын
Some great pointers there my friend would love to see your work with the straps. Im intrigued. Ive got some ideas to tweak this myself. Hopefully it will better my experience too... but im really impressed with the concept so far. Haven have done a great job

seems to me like a bad concept. U need this specific air mattress to stabelise the tent and you can not use it without the airmattress. this airmatress is probably the first thing to fail.
@toroddlnning6806 Жыл бұрын
seems like a decent tent for placing it on the ground, but im not sure how strong it will be in heavy winds with just two support sticks, one on each side, to hold it up.
