Good review. I've had a Haven Tent since the Kickstarter came out. I'm 6'2", 260 and found the standard a snug fit but I'm not claustrophobic, so it has always been good for me. This last weekend I found I had left the air mattress at home. I had my deep winter -20 bag and stuffed that in instead and used my light summer bag as a top quilt. Really needed the air mattress. The floor drooped away at my head and the sides came in tight. I thought my butt would sag, but it was the ends. Even with the winter bag under me, it was cold. Don't ever forget your pad, and take a repair kit with you should you get a hole. Today, I ordered the XL size Safari and will be able to try it out this weekend.

Great review, as always! The Haven is really not a competitor for 98% of hammocks. It is a great alternative to tents and also rooftop tents! I travel and camp where there is no flat, smooth ground so the Haven is my choice. As mentioned, I always set a larger tarp up first and then the hammock underneath.

Moin, Thank you for your informativ Video and thoughts........👍🙂 I've got the Haventent Safari since a few month now and I can confirm a very tight Zipper while I am laying in the hammock ............so I don't put up the hammock to tight (in fact quit loose) which releases the tension on the zipper quit a bit. Laying in the hammock tightens up the hammock ridgeline again but not as much 👍 I also can confirm, the Haventent XL/Safari is very suitable for dogs to sleep whith you in the hammock (maybe not an Irish Wolfshound 😄). It is for our dog (14 year old lady) a lot easier to move around on the sleeping pad in the Haventent than to move around in an GE hammock with an UQ..........and she's got room to move around aswell 👍 In temperatures below freezing I prefer my Thermarest Mondoking XXL as my sleeping pad for the Haven. To protect the pad from the claws of dog Molly, I am putting an cotton or micro fleece matress cover over the sleeping pad. Helps also to keep the pad clean....🙂 For Raincover on bad days I'll take my 11ft Clark Vertex Silnylon Fly...........fits perfectly 👍 Greetings from the baltic sea

The Haven XL has been greatly improved for 2024 with double zippers, a lounge strap and a newly designed air pad that resolves the dreaded taco issue and raises the comfort on a new level (even beats the Thermarest Topo Luxe, I own both pads). The Safari shall also receive a new pad next month, its already listed on the website but not available yet. Given all these recent developments and the close proximity to Haven it would be interesting to see you doing a follow up video. Your book is rightly considered the bible of hammock camping and your opinion highly respected in the hammock community.

Liked the presentation Derek. I have seen another review of this product. There was criticism about the zip. The reviewer found that when laying in the hammock there was tension that placed a strain on the zip that made it difficult to undo. The reviewer thought that if the person, in the hammock was not careful, excessive pulling on the zip could cause the teeth of the zip to part; thus causing the zip to be broken. Anything to add, or rebut, that comment?

I've found that if I pull down on the ridge line it seems to relieve the tension on the zipper

nice, thank you. i would like to see a video where you make a moto hammock night out. what you bring, and how you set up. i got an old vespa and have easthill outdoors bug net hammock and a self made stand, that i can bring with me. i like motocamping a lot. but there is always something to learn about how others do it.

Thanks! My motorcycle isn't designed for off-road, so that limits where I would go motocamping or how I might integrate the motorcycle, but I'll be happy to share some of my adventures on this channel and we can see where it goes. I'm curious what kind of stand you have and do you use your bike as part of it?

I thought about getting one of these so my dog could lay in it with me and have more room. Sometimes she feels crowded in a gathered end hammock and so she ends up sleeping on the ground and I dont like that.

Yeah, the XL would be my choice. If your dog isn't too big, you both could easily fit. You might consider a pad protector too.

Thanks, Derek. I car camp at state parks and festivals so I use an ENO Nomad stand. My go to hammock is the Hennessy expedition. Any 10 foot hammock will work with the stand. I know a standard Haven fits in the stand, but does the XL work? 🤔 Love yer posts and the two editions of The Ultimate Hang. Between you and Shug, I’ve had so much fun hammock camping these past 9 years.

Thanks so much! The XL isn't that much longer. The pad is only 2 inches longer and the ridgeline is 8-9 inches. In terms of the hammock, I think it would work on your stand.

What's a 'pellow?"
@13Voodoobilly69 Жыл бұрын
The name Pellow reached England in the great wave of migration following the Norman Conquest of 1066. The Pellow family lived in Yorkshire. The name, however, refers to the region of Belleau or Bella Aqua in France, both of which translate as good water or clear water.
