I don't do dog parks. I have a pit mix. She's a good dog, but I refuse to take her to a dog park. I love her too much to put her in any situation. I wouldn't take any dog to a park. But, some breeds shouldn't be allowed bc of their temperament.
@jacksyoutubechannel40452 жыл бұрын
I really appreciate that you're cognizant of this. There's a weird tendency I'm sure you're familiar with to treat the breed of pitbull like it's some race of human being. Once we do that, we can say things like "shepherds naturally start shepherding," but can't say, "pitbulls were historically bred with traits that can be dangerous," which makes it impossible to discuss risks and safety. It becomes frustrating to hear, "Well, we all assume the risk when we go to a dog park," because I think most people know that owning a pitbull is assuming an additional level of risk to owning a pug. Even if a pug _were_ more likely to bite, that pitbull combination of strength and "gameness" (persistence in fighting/attacking through pain and injury) make any bite more consequential. So any time a pitbull comes to a dog park, or is walked around a neighborhood without a leash, the owner has forced everyone _else_ to assume _their_ risk. It's commendable that you take that into account.

@mysinusesrkillingme39752 жыл бұрын
She explained why she ruled that way and it didn't have to do with leashes. It's an assumed risk at a dog park and unless the aggressor's owner is negligent, it's nobody's fault. This just applies in the park, though. Out on the street there is a leash law.

@@mysinusesrkillingme3975 yes I'm aware and your point is exactly mine although expressed differently which is ok 🤷🏾♀️. @@reekah21 there was definitely a discrepancy over the leash/no leash issue, but I was just pointing out that it had nothing to do with the judge's decision. I agree about the big dog/small dog part. If you take your small dog into the big dog section YOU WAIVE YOUR RIGHTS IF THERE IS AN INCIDENT! There is a reason there are two separate sections because some big dogs see small dogs as prey. Dogs need to be socialized. To PREVENT THIS. If your dog doesn’t know how to be a “dog” around other dogs (as in safe distance, how to introduce, how to read body language, how to share etc) this CAUSES bites, from fear, from aggression, anxiety, etc If you can’t trust dog parks definitely find another way. They need to learn. Especially small aggressive territorial breeds because their injuries received are ALWAYS worse THAN Given.
@Lanie-sl9ne2 жыл бұрын
I can't understand why dog parks don't designate times where people can literally take their animal to be amongst other animals that are of the same weight. That's better than exposing them to animals who are not the same weight who have a propensity to be aggressive.

Most dog parks have separate ares but so many small dog owners take their dogs into the big dog area. And if they choose to do that, it’s the small dog owners fault

So true. I was walking on the odd side of the street and an unleasheded, unprovoked pit bull and the owner wasn't even home was on the even side of the street and the pit bull crossed the street and started growling and snarling me and with my right hand i tried swiping him away from me and he bit my hand. The owner of the pit bull the next day says they don't care that the pit bull bit me. Great people

What kind of idiot takes an oversized APBT to a dog park?! They are bred to be aggressive toward other dogs. Some can go to dog parks until about 6-9 months old, but after that the innate dog aggression kicks in. They also have over the top prey drive. Big dogs often are triggered into prey drive by very small dogs. That is why we have separate big dog areas and little dog areas. A pit bull's jaws do not lock. Their jaws are anatomically like any other dog's jaws. The difference is their desire to hang on and shake with determination. They will definitely release a hold in a fight in order to grab a better one. You DO take a risk taking any dog to a dog park.

The dog is most likely as vicious and aggressive as it's irresponsible self entitled owner. The dog has most likely got loads of previous cases of aggression and attacks. The defendant is disgusting. I don't know why anybody would want to own a Pitbull. Too much financial liability for me. I see these cases all the time and the Pitbull owner almost always loses and has to pay vet bills/medical bills/pain and suffering/etc. Owning those things are a fools bet, but to each their own.

I agree with the judge except that a pit bull is known to have a propensity to bite. Maybe it should be a law that anytime a pit bull is out in public it should be muzzled. That will stop most of the attacks on people and other animals.
