This hits home for me. I'm not from the US but I live here in a 3rd world country and living a standard of "ok" life is challenging. I've been binge watching Dave's vids for weeks now and has cemented my mindset to keep my humble finances in check. I'm a single mom of 2 kids with zero child support. I've lived quite an uncomfortable and painful life to the extent that I'm scratching my head where to get $2 to buy fish and a kilo of rice for tomorrow's breakfast. I wanted to buy Dave's book to get started but can't afford it yet as shipping it in my country would be a 2 weeks worth of grocery. 😜😀 So last weekend, I watched one of his Financial Peace University videos, took out my pen and notebook....wrote the steps, added my humble numbers while putting on my age for each milestone. It was an eye opener for me! It gave me my financial path. I think I got the basics right, but I'm still saving up for Dave's book and hopefully I can finally purchase it in the next 2 months. Wish me luck folks!

Thumbs up. Here is another example. Couple months ago I bought a $100 scanner to scan old pictures my mom asked to scan. Didnt want to pay a service, so I just bought the scanner. Instead of returning the scanner or selling it used, I put up my services online. Old photo scanning at a reasonable price. You really only need time and patience to scan a couple hundred photos. Got paid the cost of the scanner with just one client. Think, people!

Hello Mr Ramsey, This is the first day listening to you & I am very interested on this topic called MONEY! I. Am a widow now for 4 years & very lucky that my late husband & I figured out early about this thing called money. Married for 56 years & now I just turned 83 years young & have collected MONEY & don’t owe one penny. Have many credit cards, only use a few and after purchases always pay the charge before the bill even comes. I have always been very frugal as was my husband. Now I find that the years are going so fast & I want to make sure that my 3 sons have the remainder I leave to them. I have some money in a credit union, bank, an annuity. My home is paid for, my car is paid for, have cash & some silver. Have a living will and none of my boys want to be Responsible for the job of dealing with the after math when I pass. Should I have my bank or lawyer. Take on this Job? I also have property, one small house on a lot with a well, electric and gas, that my one son lives in, no rent. Any ideas would really be helpful. Enjoyed your show, Regards, Joan Johnson in Prescott, Az.

Dave is at a point where hearing the same mistakes over and over again is getting old. He opens this call like "How are you" in a somber way, knowing it's going to be the same old BS he's heard time and again! Math is simple - emotions are not. You cannot quantify something inherently irrational nor can you trust your "intuition". You can, however, follow Math! Try it and see where it leads! I bet it leads to more $$$$$$

Why would you sell the lawn mower? If you paid that much for a lawn mower then you should be using it as a tool to generate money. Period!

With college degree, they should be making more. When you are making so little like them, it’s very hard to pay off debt. They have very little room in their budget to begin with

Some years I focus more on reducing household expenses (2020 is one of those years) including TV, Internet, utilities (adding insulation this winter), car insurance etc. Some years I focus on Increasing income (2021 will have that focus) Some years I focus more on investment performance (probably 2022 will be one of those years). Seems like this guy needs to have some increasing income focus. They need a better main jobs or some side hustles or both.
