oh Jess I’m so sorry that people have projected onto you with their birthing experiences 🥺 I went in with a similar mindset to you, trusting God & the process of labour. I had a completely unmedicated labour and birthed our beautiful little girl. I did have a second degree tear but other than that baby was healthy and I recovered well. Keep an open mind and remember that you are so much stronger than you think! A huge affirmation for me during labour was “while I am weak He is strong” just trusting God every step of the way 🤍 I highly recommend you check out the BirthTime documentary, it is LIFE CHANGING! 🙏

I was definitely told “just get the epidural” and “don’t try to be tough, you don’t have to impress anyone” when I mentioned that I’d like to try for an unmedicated birth (as if that’s what I was trying to do?). It’s very discouraging, but I want you to know that if you want to try it, go for it! I had an unmedicated birth my second pregnancy and it was an incredible experience. My first pregnancy was medicated and it was wonderful as well. You are amazing in whatever you choose, and try to tune out those who are discouraging to you. I used Bridget Taylor’s videos to prepare for my unmedicated birth and I was so prepared and loved it!

I've always wanted the epidural (i'm 9 months pregnant), and I've always heard the opposite! "Just try to go natural at first", "you're going to have back pain after", "you'll miss out on the experience" etc. I think no matter what we moms decide to do, the people who disagree will always be vocal about it

@@moodsofkiwi9285 that’s so true. It’s unfortunate that people can never seem to just be supportive. I’m so sorry that’s happened to you, it can definitely feel discouraging, especially from people you care about. I hope your birth goes wonderfully and that you are able to get the epidural ❤️

Hi Jess! My mom gave birth to my sister in the hospital after being induced and to me in a "birthing center", in water and she always said she had liked the more natural birth a lot more because she felt more respected and everything was like soft, loving and the pain was not worse. Hope all goes well for you❤️
@martham6

I don’t think someone should be more or less respected because of the type of birth they choose. but glad you had a positive experience :) 🤍
@celine3302
@celine3302 2 жыл бұрын
@@martham6 no of course everyone should be respected! but my mom had explained that the doctors in the hospital were less gentle, even agressive in their movements whereas in the birthing center they were a lot nicer and more "respectful" of her (I’m French so maybe respect doesn’t have the same connotation in English)

I’ve done 3 unmedicated births and I went into it with the mindset I wanted to be able to get up and move. But I was also open to get an epidural if I felt overwhelmed with the pain. I never got to the point where I felt like I couldn’t handle it. I think having an idea of what you want, but also trusting your doctor/midwife to do what is safest for you and your baby is the best mindset going into birth! You got this!!

im a midwife and calm birth educator and what you said at the end made me so happy .To have conversations with your partner about what life and your relationship is going to be like once baby is here before the baby is here. Managing boundaries with visitors, expectations of each other in baby care and household duties etc, managing self care for each other, signs of postnatal depression and what to do. All SO important!! you're doing great Jess, you will be great parents.

Honestly birth is just beautiful. I watched my sister give birth when I was 18 (I was 6 weeks pregnant without knowing bay the time) and I loved the experience and to share that with her. Sometime that blew everyone’s minds, I would watch birth blogs, midwife shows etc and I feel like it mentally prepared me, taught me a lot of phrases and terminology, showed me tips on pain relief. I wasn’t scared to give birth at all ❤️🥰 I went unmedicated for both births. Second birth I was induced which was more intense but I was really set on not having an epidural, not that I’m against them but for me I already had back problems, I also really wanted to feel the whole experience. My biggest tip is focus on your breathing and hot showers (or the tub if you go water birth) is amazing!! Helps a lot. It’s hard to commit to a name honestly, with both of my kids I had two names but also leaned more towards one then the other. With my daughter we had Natalie Rose (one I leaned more towards) and Kaylee Rose. Just looking at her I knew she wasn’t a Natalie. Even though I love that name even now 7 years later. With my son we did want Charlie but our niece was named that, then by the end it was out of Arlo (my partner loved this) and Maddox (my favourite because it’s welsh and my family is welsh). It took us a few hours but we knew 🥰

I love what you said. “Even though she is your world try to still have a world of your own” that’s beautiful! As a first time mom I wish I would have heard that sooner! Also when it comes to your birthing experience, although hard to ignore some people opinions/comments try to not let it get the best of you. I was super similar in what I wanted for my labor and delivery and I let everyone scare me. At the end of the day it was beautiful and perfect and now I have my son because of it. You are STRONG, god created our bodies for this and you are capable of anything you set your mind too

I just gave birth to my first baby 8 weeks ago and did it all natural and you can totally do it! It’s much more mental than physical in my opinion. Affirmations, knowing your body was made to do this, each contraction is just one minute closer to meeting the love of your life, and your body won’t put you in more pain than you can handle. Being able to birth my baby girl natural and unmedicated was such a huge accomplishment for me and made me feel so powerful and proud. No matter how you give birth, women are incredible but for me personally, I felt so proud of myself. You’ve got this! 💕

I was in a similar journey while I was pregnant and chose to go the natural birth route. I was so scared I wouldn’t be able to do it. A lot of people are negative about it so I didn’t talk to anyone about my plans really. But my birth was the best experience of my life. It was 4.5 hours long and I felt so powerful and exhilarated.. you really can do what you set your mind to. Christian hypnobirthing and positive birth stories were super powerful in preparing 💛

Jess dear, I have been following you and Gabriel for a few years now, and I have never come to writing a comment up until now. I feel I must tell you that choosing over and over again to hear/look/see the positive in whatever it is you are looking at.. is truly hart worming and filling me with hope that there is a good place in life to live it. This is extremely important to feel having to go through numerous life challenging experiences (Emotionally is ‘main base camp’ here, if you will) which leave you with serious baggage of diss-believe in the human of man kind that is GOOD. That is SAFE TO BE AROUND that is HAPPY ENOUGH TO LIVE AROUND in this world…. And you my dear.. are a clear beautiful example for that. I find you pure, connected to the positive by choice, and so respectable of your inner self and you private life with Gabriel and family to be. The modesty in your soul is well preserved and that is an example for today’s generation - that I find SO IMPORTANT!!! It is beautiful, it protects the innocence in life which is so fragile in these day.. Thank you Jess sweet hart. You are beautiful inside and out. Gabriel and your entire family is lucky to have you.. keep on being the wonderful you.. and the intention will send of the waves for someone out there to choose better for himself with compassion to his actions, hart and life story. I send all my best to you & family, have a happy healthy full handed birth, and may the grace in life fill your home with glory and joy of Harts , that is all that is. Ashirah.

So excited for you guys! we had our little girl 6 months ago and it has been just SO fun, you guys are going to LOVE it! I totally understand the negativity towards going unmedicated -- everybody I talked to made it sound impossible! Thankfully my mom and husband were encouraging, and watching KZbin videos of people's unmedicated birth stories was encouraging, too. During labor I just kept telling myself I could do it because I truly believed it! I loved the unmedicated experience and was so amazed by my body when all was said and done. You CAN do it if that's what you really want. that being said, I tried to keep an open mind about an epidural and will consider it in the future if I feel it's necessary. 😊

Just epidural input: I'm so scared of needles and IVs, so I did a natural water birth and I'm glad I did. Yes it was painful but I always felt like "I can do this" the pain never felt out of control or beyond me. In the middle of my 5 hour labor my body even slowed down contractions to allow me to nap twice to get more strength. I loved that my body knew exactly what I needed, and I think having an epidural would have masked some of my body's capabilities! You'll do great and your body will amaze you no matter which way you go though! ☺️

I had the same mindset for the "epidural vs no epidural" decision, and I had some people look at me sideways like if I didn't DETERMINE that I wasn't doing the epidural I would probably just give in, but I really just didn't want to confine myself to a decision when I had no idea what it feels like to me. I took birth classes and tried to prepare as much as possible, and I did end up doing it all naturally with no pain meds. Deep breathing, movement, and being in the bath were my go-to's for coping. The contractions hurt, but to me it was totally doable, and I don't consider myself to have a super high pain tolerance. The pushing, however, was really rough for me, and lasted over 2 hours. But at that point I knew I was almost done, and knowing I was about to see my baby's face any minute gave me the strength I needed til the end. You're gonna do a great job!! And if you get in there and you decide you want the epidural, just party like its 2022 and get it! ❤ A mother's ability and stength aren't defined by the details of her birthing experience. Wishing you all the best!

I had a water birth at home. It was so amazing. I was too afraid of the unknown and I definitely made it out to be worse than it is. Yes, it’s intense but the most empowering experience. I felt most comfortable at home and my birth team was so respectful and encouraging. You got this mama!!

Hi Jess! In light of this incredibly beautiful Q+A, I wanna share my birth story if that might help you through this very nerve wracking process. And disclaimer, I’m a women of faith and my birth story has a lot of comments about how faith and God got me through it. I gave birth to my son 4.5 years ago when I was 20. I have birth at home, naturally. My intention was to have a home water birth but as I labored very quickly ( praise God) , the tub became more a soothing point and I decided pushing on the floor on a mattress was the most comfortable position for me personally. So going into pregnancy, I knew I wanted to do a natural birth, and I knew I wanted to avoid medication. I wanted to experience child birth the way God intended for it to be and something I walked through with more faith than anything else. And to be honest, I had so many doubts. Contractions are painful, labor is painful, the entire child birth process is painful. I’m not going to sugar coat that experience at all. With that being said, Gods design was in full awareness for me. My mind went to a space I don’t think exists outside of child birth , but a space that I knew full well was designed for us women to enter into while undergoing that kind of pain. It’s more than mind over matter ( although we can simplify it to that) , it felt more primitive than that. That I had no other choice but to manage the pain with intention, Grace, and understanding. I was experiencing the pain in full force but internalizing it in such a way that allowed for me to breathe my way into it. My mom and husband were amazing touch people , but labor is entirely alone. Leaning on them for things you need is so important and helpful , and I pray that your birth is as beautiful and intentional as you wish for it to be. I know full well you are created and designed to overcome the pain, however you may perceive it. And for me, the only thing I went to mentally was “I’m going to see my baby soon” and that was a beautiful thought to continuously be reminded of naturally. And honestly it’s the only thing , at the end of the day, that created the beauty in the entire birthing process. Passing the placenta was easy after baby was skin to skin. And those few moments after your child comes and meets you and gabe is going to dissolve the labor experience into a piece of cake. Heavenly Father, I lift up Jess to you today. I pray for her strength and her courage to overcome child birth in a way that you have intended for her and her child. I pray that you touch her body, mind, and soul as she births her daughter. I pray for a quick, simple, beautiful labor for her, and I ask that you allow for her to lean onto you during that time. I pray for the health of her baby, and that if it is your will, the outcome of this process for both Jess and her daughter is entirely healthy. Lastly, I pray for Gabe. As he enters fatherhood with his wife , as they enter parenthood together, grant him the strength and courage to continue to uplift his wife and raise his daughter with the kind of tenderness and grace you have intended for a father. I pray for them to be strengthened entirely to you and your love walking through parenthood together. In Jesus name , amen! Love you Jess! Love you Gabe! Love you baby G. Good luck beautiful, you got this

I've had 3 babies all unmedicated and my youngest was a water birth. That was by far my most comfortable birth, it wasn't pain free but was a lot more comfortable than my other two ☺️

I can’t believe you’re already 8 months! My sister just gave birth to her beautiful baby girl on Sunday and I had the privilege of being a birthing partner. It was honestly one of the most emotional experiences of my life. While it was awful seeing her in pain I was also filled with so much love and admiration. It’s a feeling I can’t truly explain but the human body really is designed to birth and it was so fascinating to watch my baby Niece come into the world. I’m so excited for you and your family to experience this and I’ve got so much confidence in you. You’ve totally got this! ❤️

i hope you read this. one of my friends got a baby girl. she prayed so much for that day because she wanted to give birth naturally. it’s an amazing testimony today because she said looking back now, she can’t even remember the pain because the moment was so amazing that’s what she remembered. they had 1% chance of becoming pregnant btw, both her and the husband had issues. God is amazing! I’m really praying for this last bit of your journey!

Jess! I feel so connected to you in this video. I am not expecting, but I LOVE birth & educating myself on the subject. Everyone always has something negative to say when you mention any birth plan that is geared towards the mum & bean more so than the facility in which you will deliver. Water births = more work for the doctors & so their negative outlook on that trickles down into the patients they have. If your first instinct is to have a water birth & to go unmedicated, then do it! You are more than capable. You were made for this. Your body was made for this. We believe in you! Xoxoxo

Hey Jess! So excited for this next chapter for you! I’m due with my baby girl around the same time. This isn’t my first rodeo so my advice to you is to be flexible. Not every birth is the same even for the same woman so for sure have a birth plan, but be prepared to make adjustments as you go. It’s ok to decide later that you want an epidural, but don’t let people pressure you into getting one. I found mine to be wonderful, but everyone is different! Just try to relax and focus during those contractions. I found an exercise ball to be super helpful for giving me something to bounce on and do while I had contractions. Good luck!

I had two unmedicated natural births, I knew it was what I wanted to do and when I told people that was my plan they were kind of negative! I just surrendered my thoughts and pain to God. Listened and focused on worship while I was progressing with contractions. You are absolutely right, God created our bodies to do this! You’ve got this Jess. During contractions, have Gabe push on pressure points and focus on that pressure and not the pain. Remember that contractions are waves, just have to get through the wave and take a breather than brave the wave again.
