I'm 25 and still IN COLLEGE. I already know what the isolation feels like from taking nothing but online classes for the past year, then you feel bad that people you went to high school with or people who were younger than you when you were in high school are all graduating and getting their lives together. Being a college student at 25 makes you feel like you're behind, so I had to go on a social media hiatus.

The old quarter life crisis has been going on for about two years. But you know when something is wrong deep in your gut? And if you’re a champion at repression you haven’t really noticed or payed any attention until now. Now I can’t not pay attention. ugh for ages that the only thing open to me was nursing. My friends are all graduating, some of my friends have mortgages, pets, children, stable functional loving relationships. And now that I’ve acknowledge this bubbling simmering caldron of discomfort concerning my career and my life happiness, I’ve seen my priorities change drastically. I thought for ages only thing worth doing in my life was work and family, I’m talking sisters, brothers, parents. That I didn’t need any hobbies or other interests because workaholism was the way to go, that I loved my job enough that it was the only thing that mattered. Now… I’m lonely, I have multiple interests, I want to love someone and to be loved, I do not want to do constant shift work, I absolutely do not want to be a workaholic, I’m not even sure that I really enjoy nursing really. I think about having kids some day, something I never thought I’d ever want. I’ve found a new interest in music, something that comes naturally to me, I’ve discovered I can write well. And all this stuff, simply wasn’t real to me two years ago. Changing life goals and priorities may warrant changes in your job or your education, and this is okay. It has to be okay. This is something that I’m struggling with at the moment and it’s helpful to know that I’m not alone.

been going through a quarter life crisis with extreme anxiety and depression for about 8 months now. It all started when i took an antidepressant that my mind/body didn't agree with at all.Woke up, thought i was dying , walked out of my job i was in for almost three years and it served me nothing except the bare minimum to get by. Not proud of it but at 23 years old realizing so many different things about my life like the traumas i've gone through and aging and how i've worked consistently since junior year of high school in 2013, pretty sure i can attribute most of the blame on burnout and never once going out or having fun, or putting myself out there. So now a couple months before i turn 24, which i've been dreading, i'm trying to let go of so much fear and anxiety so i can try to live in the moment better. work in progress but thanks for the video!

Thank you so much for this video! This is exactly what I'm going through right now!! I'm 21 going on 22, and I packed my bags about 6 months ago and moved to Australia. I quit the degree I was doing, because it was making me incredibly unhappy and I needed a change of scenery to help me figure out where to go next. I feel this pressure to find answers quickly because like you said, I'm taking time to think. Society doesn't really support that, because it looks like you're doing nothing and our generation is obsessed with looking busy. I'm still in the midsts of it but I know that in 10 years I'll look back and see what Gods purpose was for this experience. At least now I know I'm not the only one doing this (cause within my circle I'm literally the only one). Love your videos!!

@@dantoinettem6825 hi! It has all worked out really well actually. I'm still a work in progress and I'm not going to lie, my time in Australia was really difficult because I definitely was running away from some things (even if I said I wasn't at the time). However, I learned a lot about myself and finally got a glimpse into what I do love to do. Just today I finished my first year of a BA and I love it. Of course you don't have to end up going back to school, I met plenty of people who took completely different routes. I would say, just take the jump. And if you believe in a higher power of some sort, have faith in that. I did and it really helped me to end up where I am now. Wishing you all the best, you got this!!

Something that helped me with seeing the things my peers are doing all over social media everyday and feeling bad is the idea that: what I see them doing and being is just my untapped potential. The truth is, if you ask yourself “could I do what they are doing” the answer is usually yes, but you are doing something else, because something else is more important to you for whatever reason, and that will pay off, then if you want you will do the things that you see them doing, just maybe in 3-5 times from now. The reason it makes you feel bad is because you see them doing something that you have the ability to do, so you can relate to it. They also only post highlights on social media so because they look sooo happy and when your scrolling on social media your mood is usually pretty neutral, it makes you feel bad. Just remember, you’re capable and it’s just your untapped potential.

University and having time off has really allowed me to consider what I really want from life. I think that having a (mid) life crisis earlier in life is usually a good thing, despite how condescending it may sound. Even if you feel as though you’re stuck at one point in your life while your peers are achieving “success”, it is a significant part of your life which requires intensive thought and deliberation. Feeling stuck is natural, because despite how assured some people may be in their decisions, no one truly knows what they want to do with their lives without thinking about it first. It’s crucial to understand that your idea of success may be different from your peers’ and to accept this fact, and use it to achieve success in the context of your own life, not what society may make you think. Thank you so much for making this video as it is an important topic which needs to be discussed more often! 😊

But I'm much better now: looking for freelance work, studying music theory, writing, working on a short animated film. One important thing in this period is this: your self worth doesn't depend where you are now,,your productivity, how much you are earning right now and what other people think of you, these things aren't your indentity. And follow the things that give you energy mentally, joy and excitement. Thank-you for this video!

Oof right before my 26th birthday there it was the feelings of being underachieved, fresh wounds of a heartbreak, broke, and wondering how tf I could even begin to explain to 12 year old me how we let so much s**t get out of hand and how we let all these goals just fall by the wayside. It wasn’t until about a year ago shortly after my 27th birthday I finally felt ready to take back control and really reevaluate who I am, what I want, and truly understand that it’s okay if I don’t want to Go party and go crazy but I also don’t want to rush into marriage and have kids with just any man like some of my other friends did. One thing you forgot to mention or maybe just didn't mention too is the importance of your support group but also just the people around you that you can't get rid of or stop listening to like your family. I think you're really lucky to have a family (parents especially) that supports what you do. A fair number of people don't have that and have to do what is being told to them so only when they retire or are stable enough, will they do what they actually like and want to do. Some don't make it until then and that's really sad.

Thank you. So many choices and wonderful opportunities are presenting themselves to me right now whereas picking seems to be the challenge. I'm a junior in college and picking between entertainment & investment banking is a rough choice. Two different worlds with two types of salaries with very different earning potential. Understanding the banking system yet being passionate about entertainment has brought me to a crossroads of building my ideal lifestyle through financial instruments because its a matter of deciding whether I get to my financial liberty faster or just take the slower, more scenic route. Anyways, rant over. I appreciate your content. Keep posting. Btw, totally agree with your vid on influencers. I've been working with a company who focuses on rights for influencers and I see those stigmas 24/4 in the industry. Granted it has a great future for earning potential amongst companies who are marketing themselves via influencers, but being "famous" for a career really isn't as easy as people think it is.

1/4 life crisis. Yes is 100-bound. Yup, 2093 when temps are hot & the oceans have risen. Q. Will there be a Harvard?

I support you. I’d just like to say that I hope you’re not implying that people who start working towards another “direction” are wrong to do so. Not all people can take the time to only think and orientate themselves for long. The fact that they start working jobs that perhaps are not fully in sync with their personalities and passions 1) doesn’t prevent them from doing the soul searching they need and from working on what excites them more at the same time and 2) also doesn’t mean they are somehow only heading to the (wrong) direction they were placed on because they didn’t think it through better. Sometimes another direction can also teach you a lot and you can turn it into something that reflects who you are instead of insisting on something that’s not working out for you just because you think it’s the only right direction for you. In my opinion.

lmao going through the this quarter-life crisis that you speak of right now! Graduating college next year but don't want to be in college right now and I do not have the passion for the thing that I once had. But as time goes on, I'll figure it out

If i die at 24 that “child tantrum” as my mom would call it at 12 would have been a legitimate mid life crisis

Great video! you're so wise and mature for your age. haha its very attractive and admirable though. I went through a similar situation when I turned 25. Still kinda going through it today at 30. lol I think I was really naive at the time and didnt have a mentor to guide me through my goals but Ive learned so much about myself and will ultimately help me be a better person to others and my family.

I am already having crisis in high-school - finding a dream. I find interests in whatever I start reading. So it's hard to pursue what I like. What do you call that, a 1/5th life crisis ?

I don't want to be petty cuz I really like your channel but you flew from US to France, then you went to Germany, you finished the college, you were in a relationship and most important, you had a purpose in life. I think a quarter life's crisis is more like to be 25 and to not have reached all the things society demands you to have at that age, like have finished the college, have a "good" job, have traveled abroad or to be in a relationship (and what makes it worst is that toxic aunt who is going to ask you the most awkward questions in every family's meetings), you feel bad when you see all your high school friends are economically better than you and not even live anymore in your town, when you see your parents getting older, getting sick more often and you know the moment when you'll have to take care of them is getting closer but you don't have money or a single idea of what is to take care of somebody, when you are afraid of what the future is going to be cuz you are 25 but you don't have a purpose and you have nothing to face the world.

This video... I have been feel the same way recently. I’m in my last year of high school and I know exactly what I want to study/do in life, but recently I’ve just kinda been feeling like what’s the point of it all? I planned to get some assignments done in the winter break but I couldn’t even muster up the strength to get up from bed . I’m not depressed or anything I’m just really really tired and slowly loosing sight of what’s important :(
