I'm 27 with two degrees but unemployed living with family. I feel more and more useless everyday and feel irritated at the fact I can't have my privacy but this is my fault and I brought this to myself. I'm literally so scared to go out and interact. I'm hopeless. I don't know how to get back on track. I think about ending my life everyday. But I found your video and maybe; maybe things can work out in time. I actually also just wanted to say how nice your place is. Living in a third world city wouldn't let me walk around nature near my home so this video is very relaxing to me.

Hang in there friend. I'm also a 27 year old battling depression and anxiety at work and I don't know how long I can last in the job. But I know that this life that God has given me is worth the struggle. Better times will come some day.

I feel you, I'm only 23 and I'm already feeling it. Although I'm still quite young, I'm worried that I'll be like this on the same path unless I start taking risks that will change my life. I agreed with the video since it gaved me some strength to never stop following my hopes and dreams tho.

Unemployed? There are way less jobs than people, so it is normal that many of us are unemployed. Living with parents? Our finances are far away from what we wish them to be, due to circumstances out of our control. Single? We can't control how other people feel about us. What I am saying is, we should stop beating ourselves up and start being compassionate about ourselves.

Absolutely. I think people think that theres a false dichotomy where you cant have compassion for yourself and the true external factors that have caused things WITHOUT thereby losing your sense of responsibility. It is obvious when you think about it rationally that your circumstances both are and arent your fault. For instance people a lot lazier and stupider than me could afford a house and family before they are my age in the previous generations, so my circumstance isnt all my fault. However its obviously a good idea for me to change my habits while also trying to change society. We can and should do both, we are individuals in a society, not individuals in the vacuum of space. The false dichotomy of EVERYTHING IS YOUR FAULT OR NOTHINGS YOUR FAULT is better to move on from. Lets change ourselves AND change society, together, trying to make a better world for our children.

There tons of jobs available in the US but by the end of the week you already spent 3/4 of it after expenses because of the inflation so what’s the point? The cost of living has gone up but wages have stayed the same. Makes zero sense and you can thank your government for this

It’s one thing seeing your peers living their best life but it’s another seeing your parents getting old and you can do absolutely nothing to help( financially). You know Will, I’m 38, I’ve been married 8 years now & have 3 children & ridiculously big mortgage. You might say I’ve fallen in to the trap of what society expects of me. Going to work paying the bills & using all my ‘youth’ if you will to raise the family. I wouldn’t change it for the world BUT, life if for living! The older you’ll become you’d wish you had spent more time exploring the world. Be that free spirit. You are only young once with a small opportunity to be able to do whatever you want to do. There is, Will, plenty of time to meet a girl & have kids. I’d say follow your dreams & for God sake don’t get caught in the rut/trap of what’s expected of you. As I say I’m 38 & still don’t know what I really want to do with my life!!! Good luck - Andy

I'm 38, single, no kids or mortgage and live with a mate. But, I'm a full-time Paramedic happy as hell and have never been miserable. Why? Because my real passion in life is drums and I ALWAYS make time for it. Once I realised that it was too hard to be a full-time musician I trained as a paramedic (at age 30, by the way) to give me some stability so that I can maximise playing drums and make music. I wake up happy every day and enjoy my day job evenmore because of how much joy I get from drums and music on my days off. It's a balance, isn't it. Just spend time doing what you love and if you have to juggle a day job too, as long as you're happy, you win.

I've applied for so many jobs to the point where I can't get out of bed anymore because I feel so drained from the same repitition of rejection and emptiness. You are definitely not alone as we see but please try to do some things like go out for a walk, meditate, find out what you enjoy even if it means having to do it alone and isolating the rest of your peers who remind you unconsciously of your situation! Keep believing in yourself that there is something good coming your way and try to hold onto whatever level of worth you believe you still have because with that you could grow it and be in an even better state in a year or so! You got this!

Although it's great to have parents that support you when you are down and transitioning, and mortgages/kids aren't from everyone, but I don't think people should be "loving" living with their parents in their 30s and trying to feel like a kid again. Sounds like a coping mechanism tbh. Like I said, all for family support, but should be more of a motivation to figure out shit and move on asap instead of enjoying your parents supporting you at an older age...

Thank you for being so open and transparent with us. I genuinely really needed this, I'm currently 23 years of age, living with my mother and unemployed. There's never really been a time I've been employed, at least not for a substantial amount of time due to a bunch of mental health issues and being in and out of hospitals since I was 12-19. I'm really trying not to give up hope but I feel like such a burden, everyone just thinks I'm lazy and maybe I am, but its so hard to find this spark in you to go above and beyond when you cant even see a future for yourself anymore in general. -A

I'm 37, single, employed and living on my own. And i still can't stand the daily grind. Life is a scam... And let me tell you, unless you have a job you really enjoy and does not drag you down, then you don't want a woman in your life to make it even more stressful, time-consuming and drama -filled (i used to be in a relationship for years and it wasn't such a rosy experience). So, singlehood is not a big deal. Only if you get to a point in your life that you feel really at peace with your routine, should you pursue a relationship. Otherwise, it will distract you from any chance of fixing your life

For anyone going through this, I have something that you might need to hear: Stop seeing your goals as a one way route I realize that the reason I never actually get anywhere in my life is because I’m too fixated on a goal and I believe that the only way to reach that goal is to do this one thing that I got to do earlier / takes money to do, which become some sort of “excuse” on why I couldn’t reach that goal. My tips is to focus on what you can do, not what you want to do, and go with it wherever it takes you. You can always revisit those goals later, but you can’t revisit the times passed doing nothing. Easier said than done, but here’s a perspective, if you can’t achieve it, then it’s not yet within your reach, so try to lower the bar and climb it slowly, because there won’t be that magical moment where your dream suddenly fall on your laps and everything become the beautiful reality you want yourself to have. Just take small steps and let it takes you wherever it goes, don’t fight it if it takes you away from your dream, because it might be the routes you’re not aware of, taking you right into where you see yourself in.

It took 2 1/2 years to work and in that time I lost a home, a relationship and my pride. To stay sane I moved back in with my parents (at 45 that was harsh) and concentrated on my vision, to create an authentic "desi" Indian food business that offers premium speciality and regional dishes. I learnt to cook in India. I knew where my skill set was and what filled me with joy. I was skint for two years and really hit rock bottom. But now I have a thriving business and love every second I'm alive. I have a commercial kitchen, I sell out every week at farmers markets, and will be opening an Indian deli in 2021. Of course people care about support in many ways, but they also care about connecting to you and sharing their lives with you, so we can all have more pleasant lives. When you're old, you might have friends and family that help you if you need it. You might also try to set yourself in a way where you won't need help, although that will not always be in control.

I deal with high anxiety feeling cramped, sharing a room with my brother. I get stressed and hyperventilate regularly due to this. But I truly believe I can change my position and the way my life has gone so far. And so can all of you. You’re not alone ❤️.

I’m 25 living with my mom. I just hate working, and I don’t wanna be stuck in a dreadful 9 to 5 for 30 years. Maybe I’m lazy, but that sounds pretty depressing to me. If that’s what it takes to be independent, then I don’t care about independence. But I can respect anyone who wants to be.

Im 25 and i also used to think like you a few years back. As much as working sucks, trust me on this, but working a job will actually amplify who you are as a person. It will teach you many things that you simply cant learn otherwise.
@letsplayg
@letsplayg Жыл бұрын
With all due respect there is a sense of entitlement here and somewhat a lack of maturity, what if your mom said the same thing how would you live? Fact is if you want to live you need to work and that is easier for some than others, I totally get the viewpoint of it being depressing, I also think work is made "too important" and people could work less, find something you enjoy, maybe become a music teacher or something creative but it's not healthy to expect things to just come to you for free, lots of people hate working and don't worry rarely anyone truly works 9-5 consistently most doze off multiple times, call "someone", look at their phones rarely anyone who has an office job is gonna sit on their computer and focus for 8 hours non stop it's more so 2 hours then they work slower then a bit faster again, then slower, motivation also comes when you are doing something sometimes not before you do it and trust me when you're busy and actually have something to do (I work in the kitchen as an assistant and when it's busy time flies I do it for 15 hours trying to build up to 32 hours, because 32 hours Is a full work week in my country) time flies and you learn a lot about yourself. Try out a few things and if you hate everything then maybe there is a reason for that, I need to feel good at my job or I hate it even if I do something I like if I don't feel good I just can't do it for example, take your time just try to look at more perspectives, like if you made money you could help your mom out a bit just like how she helps you, the world is made up in my opinion and I believe everyone is different so its crazy to expect everyone to do the same but work teaches you discipline and responsibility which are qualities that can help you in your daily life as well, you just get more done

But anyways, if you feel like a failure you should know: Things WILL get better. Try not to be too negative about yourself, stay calm. There were so many dark moments in my life, where I felt lost, useless and like a failure. But I kept looking forward to better days and they came. All in all, I am very grateful for the bad and the good moments I had in my life. Without the bad moments I would not be able to cherish the good things and I wouldn't be the person that I am today, they made me wiser and more grateful.

This may sound weird but, I'm glad that some of these younger people get to live at home so that they can spend much quality time with their families. I lost my mother in September 2023 , so both parents are gone. Don't be hard on yourself about being unemployed. What I can suggest though is to do some deep inner reflection on what it is you want to do. I guess read books, actually talk to a therapist many of which do life coaching, life direction, career guidance. Don't give up, but put some thought into it & believe me you'll have the answer.

However, I got into college, again not the college or major I saw myself doing. I graduated with pretty good scores, got a job straight out of uni. It didn’t do well. Got fired within 3 months because the management and I had multiple disagreements and they did it without ever letting me know. I loved the job. As soon as I got fired I fell down the pit. I moved in with my parents, have tried applying to multiple jobs. Have tried so many things but I have no hope left anymore. I know I am young, but this seems like the end of it.

I know there are the “ideals” the media and people around us expect. But I think it also comes down to how you view things. Being unemployed means you can take the time to really find something you would be passionate about or take the time to learn a new skill. Being single is not a bad thing lets you grow as an individual and value yourself without the need for someone else. Living with your parents is very common in other countries surrounded by people who love you, only in the US is that frowned upon. Just take the time to reflect and challenge your perceptions :)

Good video Will, just split up with my girlfriend after 7 years. Its totally destroyed me but she has to follow her dream and I can't go with her. At 43 years old who knows where my road and journey will take me, but like you say you have to do things that make you happy. That's a great message to put out there for people 👍

I'm 47. 3rd world country. Living with parent. No money. No job. My mother is dead father almost 80 and he still gives me money to live on,we don't live together. But he hasn't helped me beyond subsistence living and starves me at will. I have 0 friends No gf or wife. I feel hopeless and suicidal at times. Maybe I should start a KZbin channel to share my story bcos I don't see a 20something y.o or even 30something in the prime of his life having a serious problem at all. They still have their lives in front of them

I needed to see this and the comments. My daughter is 27 and doesn’t want to work. Tried getting her to see a therapist. She doesn’t want to do that either. Doing everything on my limited income is a strain but I just do it. I’m trying to understand how to deal with this. Being hoh/deaf and not letting that hold me back and worked for 22 years before my hearing declined more. It’s hard and I didn’t have much support. No parents to lean on. Parents, grandparents on both sides are deceased. All she has is me and I’m doing everything to stay healthy so that she isn’t alone. Recently, I paid for her driving permit and we went out so she can learn how to drive. Immediately got angry because I said gas was short and I have to wait until I’m paid again but that angered her and she said she has someone else to teach her but that was a lie because she hasn’t made any friends. She stays in her room and only comes out to cook food when she’s hungry. I’m buying food for her pets and cleaning up behind them. I paid for a nose job a couple of years back to support her goal to be a influencer and that went nowhere. She thinks everyone is out to get her and I’ve done nothing but be supportive. I’m up in age and don’t know what to do anymore. She looks at tarot readings on bad mothers and swear up and down they are about me but I’ve always told her she’s beautiful and smart with a bright future. She cut all the baby pics and the wrist bands from the hospital, destroyed the lace cloth book that was a gift that the pics were in. I’m doing everything and yet I’m the one who gets the anger and pain. She’s burned bridges with people who could possibly help her which is back to me being the one who has to deal with the non motivation. I didn’t realize that there were so many 27 years olds in this situation. I love her unconditionally and will just have to see if anything changes.

maybe she doesn't want others to see her at the bottom, to see her not as flawless as she'd like to appear she mightn't want to start a job because of the very word "start", she'd like to know everything immediately instead of climbing a ladder, because building up the path on mistakes scares, saddens, or annoys her i have a friend who's like that, he doesn't want to take on a job he doesn't have 100% experience in (meaning any job virtually), he doesn't like being given instructions etc., because that makes him feel useless, he feels like a kid who doesn't know anything about anything he gets corrected once, he's done with the job the same day, never comes back, but keeps thinking about the imperfection for weeks, months, or even years he feels like the whole world was watching it, and are on their way to laugh their asses off at him, he's extremely sensitive when it comes to exposing his flaws, even if they're perfectly normal because they're simply a result of inexperience he blames himself for not knowing things it's normal not to know at the very start might possibly be the case with your daughter too, maybe she sees every kind of help as weakness and doesn't want it to be exposed, but obviously i ain't no expert here

Do you any ideas if she used to get bullied ? Very important. Getting bullied can negatively affect her self- confidence and most people with low self confidence tend be very negative about lot of things.

I was in that situation at that age and was told by parents that my life was easy because I was unemployed, because I "never had to work." Emotional neglect can cause this.

I’m 27 and I just got made unemployed a month ago because my visa expired a while ago. I had to move back home. Luckily I’m in a place where the cost of living is low and I can make income off of playing stocks in the short term, but overall my self esteem has pretty much tanked and my depression has soared. I really hope I find something soon. I can’t imagine being unemployed for more than a year, heck even being unemployed for a month was enough to drive me insane.

You are not the only one. I'm 34 unemployed and living with my family. I have a training as a gardener, regain my a-level very late with nearly 30, tried to study social work to become a social worker, but I failed, cause of corona, then I moved to a voluntary year. It was one of the best decisions I had make, beside to learn to reach the a-level for studying in the future. It is cringe and mostly hard to explain to others, but like you said, life doesn't go always to plan. Some people have to take more steps then others.

I’m 28 and in bankruptcy after thinking I’d be married with kids and a home by now. It’s so f’in hard out here. Both of my parents are homeless, abusive narcissists, wish I had one to rely on. I just need a break.

You be you Will. It's your life to live and to love. I am a brand new subscriber and only watched two of your videos so far (I love the van life), but I don't think that matters much. Some people simply aren't meant/built for the daily grind of the masses. There is zero wrong with that. It wasn't that long ago that this was basically called hobo life. Fear not brother, your life is in your hands and they can be the most capable of leading you to success, happiness and true peace.

I turned 32 in october, I'm unemployed, I did graduate in college 3years ago, but failed in the tests I need to get a job in my field. I feel like the stupidest person in the world. Luckily my parents haven't lost faith in me, but, I'm so ashamed I can barely look at their faces.😒I don't even date anymore, because I'm so embarass to tell new people that I do nothing. I got nothing to show in life.💀I feel just so empty.

Write down your experience. I didn’t even watch this video and see so many comments of people in need. You will look back one day and be so proud of what you’ve gone through. It may be time to try writing a book, pick up a paint brush, embark on a physical test, join the trades (and make bank, no I don’t do the trades, but great career)

I always come back to watch this video. Now I finally making a comment. Thank you for making it. I just wanna say that I read somewhere that "no-one has their life together-no matter what they age they are-they are all just having a go at life!". Travelling is something I love to do also.
