I’m not a big comment person but I feel I had to- I see a lot of myself in you (I’m now 39) from San Diego, moved to nyc late 20s and lived there for 5-6 years, I want to let you know what you’re going through is VERY normal, but for someone who’s gone through it I’m here to tell you this doesn’t fully go away- it means you’re evolving. Practicing gratitude daily and embracing the time alone - you’ll go back one day and be so thankful for it. Be easy on yourself, it’s ok to just enjoy being in the “moment”. If I can give any young woman advice on floating, do NOT put pressure on yourself, I met my husband in ny and didn’t get married until 37 and I have zero regrets not putting the society pressures or following my friends or ofhers timeline. Please please enjoy it now because it all went by like a snap of a finger. I think it’s AMAZING you moved to Paris - I wanted to move to London for awhile but I’m in DC and that’s ok haha. Please be kind to yourself and take in every experience. If I have one regret- it’s not realizing the time I had just sitting with myself in nyc. ❤❤ you got this x

I feel like so many millennial and now Gen-Z had quarter life crisis because there's so little stability. Everything is so expensive and feels so uncertain, dating is a nightmare, we literally cannot plan for our futures, we are just trying to get to tomorrow. And that's really unhealthy for us.

True. I already have a job and a loving husband (newly married). I would be called stable in the past but now I can't survive without doing a second job. So I'm exhausted. Meanwhile I also need to prepare for a better job and need to have a kid as I'm already 26. But I don’t have time or energy for any of the later two things. So I worry too much about future.

Man I'm 26 and I ain't got shit, military turned me down, all I can get is entry level jobs in either food or retail and while I'm trying school, I feel so out of place with everyone being younger than me and tbh, I have no idea what I even want with school. What's worse is that I'm at the point now where most people look at me like I'm old and ask "wtf are you doing why don't you have a career a house and a wife or girlfriend?" Jobs are limited aswell because of my age and lack of experience to.

Hi Elena, it was so nice to meet you in Paris. I just forwarded this video to my daughter, who is your age. This content is relevant to people of any age, really. Life can take on a "been there, done that" quality if you are the kind of person who likes challenge and novelty. And for slightly anxious, driver/striver types, it's also difficult to just live your life without a clear goal in mind. At 62, having been happily married for 32 years, having raised two great kids who are now adults, and being successful in business, I STILL struggle at times with the same feelings you describe. And anyone my age except the most jaded and hardened who are not in touch with their feelings, has these moments. These feelings propel one forward. Being ever so slightly (or maybe a lot) dissatisfied is a huge motivator for change and achievement. Balancing that with enjoying the moment is the art of a life well lived. You are doing a great job of that, even though it's difficult at times. Thank you for boldly sharing your journey with others. Say "Hi" to Paris for me!

You'll figure it out Elena. In my twenties I didn't have a plan for anything and lived in the moment. My late twenties is when I figured out what I liked to do and went after it pedal to the metal. 🤟🏼 You'll feel this way if your purpose doesn't align with your heart and soul. if you believe in that sort of thing. 😁 But yes find those things you want to do and don't worry about who you will do it with. They'll find you!😉👊🏼 I'm 42 and I feel I just started living. Keep this 🫶🏼 full and share it. ✌🏼

It’s nice to hear you’re going through the same thing, especially bc a lot of times I compare myself to influencers who get to do whatever they want/make good money/etc. in their mid 20’s and I’m here at 26 with no idea what I’m doing! But I think I’ve also come to realize there’s beauty in the unknown, I would hate my life to be predictable with the good husband, house and kids, it’s exciting to think about all the possibilities our lives can take!! -coming from someone just coming off her quarter life crisis 😂💗

I felt the same way up until this year... I struggled a LOT with anxiety and depression for most of my life. Not to mention I hadn't found a partner or a community that truly felt like home. I never in a million years would have thought I'd ever say this but what helped me find the deepest peace I have ever known, more energy and overflowing excitement about waking up in the morning... has been faith. Again, NEVErrr did I think I'd become a Bible-thumping Christian, someone who looks forward to praying every day but truly, the sense of certainty, purpose, and the complete obliteration of my depression and anxiety is what has made me lean into this. Also, one out of every 1800 couples who pray together get divorced AND the longest and happiest marriages in pier review studies are often couples who met through shared faith. It took me a long time to come around, but when I saw the people in my life who had the most peace and purpose, they also had the most faith. A default to thanking God instead of overthinking/believing that you as a person need to have all the answers, you don't :) Maybe look in your life for the people who seem the happiest in who they are and how they live and get curious with them about what you can learn from them. I hope this helps
@sterlingmarshel6299
@sterlingmarshel6299 Жыл бұрын
you don't need Christian faith to be happy. You can have many nontraditional beliefs and belief in yourself is one. Everyone has some anxiety even with prayer. It's the "answer" for some. But it can't be quantified. The 1/1500 couples staying together is a flawed study by Baylor University. The stat is thrown out as "fact" to support religious beliefs. Among the limitations of this study is that it is not possible to establish whether high-quality relationships promote religiousness, or vice versa, or to rule out the possibility that although the large minority oversamples are a major strength of this survey, the data are also characterized by rather low response rates.

I'm in the same boat you're in. You're not alone in feeling these feelings :). I love your authenticity in this, it's super precious to have on KZbin when I feel like inauthenticity has taken over for a while. Something thats helped me move forward is realizing that much of what was holding me back was self denial, not listening to my gut, and trusting other people's words over mine. the second I began to lose the self doubt and trust in myself, I began to move forward again.

I feel like I lived my early years satisfied with little to no dreams. But now that I'm older I have this feeling of NEEDING to abandon that comfy life. I want to pursue dreams that I didn't know I have, fill a void that I didn't know existed. Now I have these big goals, with no clue how to get there, the only thing I know is that I won't reach them if I don't move. If I don't move on.

Every age has a crisis of some sort. Every season is about searching. If you're a thoughtful human, this sense of feeling lost will be a constant. I mean this in a good way. After all, there is so much out in this beautiful world. If you're comfortable, you must miss some of it. Also, I think it's "crap" that you couldn't stay on YT indefinitely. I think about this a lot. The most interesting creatives (think Taylor Swift) stay interesting because they explore each phase of their life. I think I speak for a lot of your audience; I am invested to see what happens next. What is 10 years from now like? Is there a beautiful French boy that will drive you mad? As long as you are evolving, your content is going to mean something to us. :)

From one Elena to another, congrats on working to bravely create the life you want! ✨ I had my 1/3rd life crisis in 2019. The launch of my first novel was on the eve of my 30th birthday - I'd had meaningful work & had travelled a fair bit in the years prior, but couldn't help but wish that the novel was a baby. A break-up and re-evaluation of life during the pandemic inspired a cross-country move and quest to have a family. It was so worth it, I met my partner and his daughters in 2020 and I love our little family. Looking forward to watching your life unfold in Paris as you go after what you want and expand your creative pursuits 🌿🇫🇷

Elena I am SO impressed with you. I’m a 60 year old, Marketing chick, who also hit that wall (at 55 I would say) and ALL the techniques you are recommending are excellent. Yes, you moved to Paris but you also did a lot of stopping to understand what was going on with you. Asking yourself what’s working today, what’s not. You are incredibly talented. Feel like you are the new Barbara Walters of this generation. Your content (and I speak professional experience) is EXCELLENT. Keep on peeling away that onion. Keep creating the rich content you do. And you will find your path. Perhaps you are already on it (-:

Also, I wanted to say congratulations on your Paris adventure!! I am 45 and have had different “life resets” over the various chapters of my life, and I’m here to say everyone is unique and special. I’ve had the opportunity the past few years to work and travel abroad and have lived in Paris, Costa Rica, Mexico in other places, and every time I step into the unknown with an open heart the most amazing growth and transformation takes place. No it’s not always easy, but yes, it’s always worth it. I am cheering and rooting for you Elena!!

Thank you for sharing this because it’s difficult! I definitely went through this ten years ago (wow I’m old!). Something that gave me tremendous comfort was this verse from Deuteronomy: “Do not fear for I am with you. Do not be dismayed for I am your God. I will strengthen you and keep you. I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” This helped me take off so much pressure from myself to have it all figured out.

Im not a big comment person either but your videos always make me feel like i want to say something about it. Firstly it was beautiful. Secondly, i can so much relate, im 27 from a different country and living different life but also always striving for change and believing beinh out of your comfort zone will always push you to be a better version of yourself. Ive gone far in terms of my teenage dreams as you have and now i feel the life literally is easy, because you feel that you can do anything and you dont doubt yourself, to the extend that it might be boring and less exciting. I agree that life is a journey and there are better and worse moments but you always learn and you should appreciate eac h of them. Finally, there is so much out there that you never gonna get that all so its important to find somewhere where you can settle also for your inner piece. Its not that time for me yet but maybe Paris will be your place for good.

It is a place of loss, confusion, terror and anger, a place where you can, like Dante, find yourself going down into Hell. But if it’s any comfort, the dark wood isn’t just that. And I think hearing it from someone we aspire to be - like you - because for me, you're living the dream (and I know it's mostly the good bits), but to be reminded that we all feel this way in our twenties/thirties, makes it seem a little less scary. Hi there! First time seeing your videos. How exciting, France! You portray having such a sweet spirit. I'm in my early 40's, and I relate having feeling like you describe in not feeling purpose-filled and anxious about direction and other things. Not be cheesy, but focusing on building a life founded and centered around seeking God in my life which can be done so well now because of Jesus's sacrifice, I have been shepherded into more and better than the low I started in without Him. Finding a bible teaching local church has been the cornerstone of this for us. God bless you Elena.

Thanks for your honesty here Elena. I have felt this as an underlying theme in your recent videos, and it does take courage to name it for what it is - and not shame it. You appear to be embracing it - the messiness is also okay, feeling the feelings as they come and know this is a calling to go deeper into yourself, not a thing to fix/change/run from. Your conscientiousness, self reflection and courage have signalled to the universe that you're ready to move beyond, and I hope you can see that as a true priveledge of how you have grown and how far you have come to be here. What you crave is not unrealistic - its true and pure. And I send you so much love as you move toward it wholeheartedly. Enjoy the ride ❤ with love from afar, Samia

It's amazing how in our 20s and 30s we have this feeling of pretending to be an adult. The thing is when you are in your 50s and 60s, etc... some of those feelings linger but by then you realize you are an adult. You are doing it. May be different than how others do it, but still, it means taking care of yourself and your family. If you have kids, well that is an added level of responsibility. In other words, it's not like one day you wake up and you feel different. There is no firm timeline. You have arrived. No, it's a slow evolutionary process. Gaining wisdom by virtue that you have seen this and done that. The bottom line is don't overthink it. You will get there.

currently also on a gap year / 24 year old life crisis. Now set on moving to NY for grad school but everyday, I have second thoughts. Feel like I'd be throwing away so much peace and stability (I'm from Portugal) for a dream that might not even be there. Would love to hear from you on comparing the NY and European way of life for girlies who are both nature but also career oriented... and are also stuck in this "should I get a new job in a big city/go to a farm" phase of life.

I seriously relate to this SO much! I’m in my early thirties and have definitely been feeling a sense of quarter life crisis the last couple of years. Thank you for sharing your experience and making all of us feel less alone in it!! Excited to see more about your journey in Paris 🤗

This resonates so deeply for me. You’re always so well articulated and I have immense respect for your motivation to make yourself uncomfortable for the sake of growth…. It feels like people (both our age and different ages) all too often shy away from the discomfort. Keep shining Elena, I hope your insights from your time in Paris are invaluable and your experiences are memorable ✨

such a wonderful and vulnerable video, you represented so much of what I’ve been feeling and it is helpful to hear that even someone in the creative space who seems to be doing & creating so much still feels this way! I loved hearing about your action items at the end that align with your values and are helping you get in touch with your truest self again 😌

Aww 💕 we met briefly at a coworking space in NY pre panini and after moving back here during my own QLC I was wondering what you were up to and found this 😂 I love your videos, they are so inspiring. Taking notes for this next chapter of my own where I’m trying to follow my own creative intuition and freedom instead of what I feel is expected of me. Good luck, much love 👏

Just wanted to say thank you. I saw your swiss backpacking video in May, after which I decided to do a month backpacking myself. If it weren't for your video, I would have never stayed in Interlaken (at Balmers), and I would have missed out on making my best travel memory ever. You helped me find a sense of direction, and I hope someone in Paris will help find yours. Take care, -KP

you have perfectly captured how i’m feeling. I turned 27 this year and I couldn’t ignore any longer the feeling of something being completely amiss in my life. I realized I missed being creative, writing and making films. I missed the feeling of joy in what I did. So I moved back to my hometown in Mallorca and started a youtube channel because I’ve always processed things better through art. I take comfort in knowing that I am not alone in this journey. Sending you love from Mallorca.

Thank you so much for putting into words this „change of seasons”! In the last year, I've definitely felt... lost: I feel like I'm way back in life, compared to my friends who are getting married or moving in with a partner. I changed cities a year and 3 months ago and this feeling of being lost has blossomed more and more on me. I left my circle of friends and now, being an employed adult, I find it so much harder to make friends: all my friends are from school or university. I have the job that I dreamt of when I was in high school, but I'm no longer happy: I feel like I can do more, but I'm so afraid. I sometimes think of bright things that I can do with my life, but imidiately 3-4 thoughts of how comfortable `now` is, are making me stay. I feel that at my age I should be BOLD and to crazy, brave, impactful things, but I'm stuck. I admire your will of creating opportunities for yourself and taking risks! I really hope the world opens great doors for you!

Hi Elena, totally resonating! Thank you for putting in the effort to make your story into such a wonderful creatively made story & video to share with us. I think all of us girls who moved across the world by themselves should do a meet up and share moments of success, challenges and learnings and just embrace each other 🙌 I’m 28, just moved from Vienna to Sydney on a longterm working visa by myself and share all the anxiety, novelty and change you’ve been describing. I celebrate us!! 🎉 You only have one life to be bold (and somewhat naive/ crazy :D)

Elena, thank you for your vulnerability. I watch your videos with all of your travels thinking “I wish I could be her,” and yet you were so open that you have struggles just like any other twenty something. I think you should start some kind of business that supports and connects young women through travel :)

Elena, if the Paris grey gets you down & you need a dose of the sea, I'd highly recommend coming down to Montpellier as a quick weekend train trip on the TGV. I'm a 38 year-old American with a wandering spririt that manifests geographically and activity-wise. 10 years ago, Paris was my oyster and so stimulating when I lived there. Now, the even calmer, mid-size, French cities in the sunny south with nature nearby to fulfill that for me. Different chapters, diferent needs for flourishing as you've already experienced. :) Courage !

Great video! I really do have a question. For someone with less than $10,000 to invest, how would you recommend we enter the crypto market? I am looking at studying some traders and copying their strategy rather than investing myself and losing money emotionally. What’s your take on this approach?

Yes. This is indeed a problem. I think I'm still in crisis mode, and have been for many years. I started working at 15 years old. because I had to start helping my family financially. Now, 20 years later, I look at my life now and think about all the experiences I didn't have, the opportunities to study and learn more and maybe be someone with a successful career. This makes me very anxious about the future.

Growing up my parents moved a lot, so I always have this "need" to move or change my surroundings whenever I feel stuck in a place for a long time Like I went to high school in paris and I'm now in university in Brussel, and I'm thinking about moving somewhere south when I finish my masters next year!!

I’m 27 in January and have been in an industry that is not aligned with who I am for the past four years. Trying to get out of it now but also have the fear of starting my side hustle I’ve been putting off for the same amount of time. I am starting to realize that life is far shorter than I want to admit and to take chances is the only way to move forward with volition.

I am really inspired by your ability to 'self-propel' as a content creator, but I can also imagine that the questions of who are my people and what's my purpose are clearer for people who work in organisations or are part of a community working together to achieve something. It helps in feeling part of something bigger, which is about purpose as much as it is about community. It can be exhausting to have to carve your own path and make all decisions by yourself, having to craft your own purpose and narrative every day. Perhaps you could ask yourself: what can I help build in the world? what larger goal can I align myself with? who can I engage with to become part of something that gives me this sense of being part of the world, rather than moving through it? it could be something you want to foster in terms of a change, it could be a community that could benefit from your skills that you would like to support in their goals.
