Your face when you first saw it was priceless! and your excitement in sharing this was wonderful. I knew you could spin dog and cat hair into roving for needle felting but didn't know about it for yarn. And it looks so soft and touchable! Make a little pillow and use the waste to stuff it. I would use a simple white cotton to stuff a pillow form and make a pretty pillow cover to put it in. Just a thought.

Felt a little Dougie poodle from the "waste"! OMG, this is awesome! Hubby has joked about doing this with the hair we sweep up from our dog, a golden retriever. I know it's a no but how cool!

Your reaction was so wonderful to see! That color is gorgeous and I can’t wait to see your makes with it. Fun fact: instead of tossing the dog hair waste, you can spread it outside and birds will use it for nests. It also can break down naturally and creates less waste 😊

You brought me to tears with your joy of your Dougerino yarn! I celebrated your excitement with you! How exciting. My family thought I was a weirdo when they found out I saved the fur of my cat I had for over 21 years! But I knew God didn't make him so furry for nothing! This was about 35 years ago, long before I got into yarn and crochet and knitting. I knew no one, at the time, to help me process it. So I just kept it stashed away with intentions of getting a spinning wheel and learning to spin one day. That dream never came to fruition after we had a flood a few years ago; and the firemen were taking people out in boats in my street. So many treasures were lost in that flood....and of course FEMA put ZERO value on such treasures as my cat fur for yarn, and my children's art work and school papers. It's only of value to me. As I told FEMA, those treasures were PRICELESS and you could give me all the money in the world and it wouldn't pay the price of the loss. I share your joy, Crystal! Can't wait to see more about it!

What a gorgeous Poodlerino Yarn🤩😍Way to go Crystal 😇🤩❤ , If i was you i will save all his clippings and made them in different colours , what more is better than having your animal fur on you. My bunny have a very very soft, long and beautiful fluffly white fur, i saved the fur after brushing her for 2 years but i lost it and i stop saving it and even if i do its hard to find somewhere to spinn it for a reasonable price that i can afford. . Many years ago I had 2 Siberian Huskies. I collected their undercoat for years. I found a place in South Carolina (I think) to have it spun into yarn. They often blended dog fur with another fiber but with Husky fur they didn't need to because it held on its own. It didn't give me as much yarn but I had enough to make a shawl and it's all my dogs' fur.

Don't know if you did this before, but they were right. I spin. Dog fiber is among the warmest. So cutting it 50% with wool is correct. Had you NOT blended it with wool it would have been too warm to wear. Am happy for you. Can wait to see the finished cardigan.

I never knew you could make yarn from dog hair. I’m so extremely happy for you. By making a cardigan and hat from his hair, he’ll always be with you. I’m all teary eyed watching you because a few years back we lost our family dog. It would’ve taken several hair cuts to get 2lbs of his hair but I would’ve definitely done this. That way I could’ve made something from it and been proud to wear it ❤❤

A childhood friends mum used to show keeshonds , think she had about 6, she had a floor length cardigan made from their fur, it was stunning and very warm. She always won the dog most like the owner as a bonus.

Our pup, Winston, had shorter hair with a fluffy undercoat, which would have worked for yarn, but I used it to felt a likeness of him for my husband. We lost our sweet boy to cancer and the felted Winston is my husband favorite possession. So glad I did it.
