That’s because the 2010 Lincoln MKZ is 400 pounds heavier than the 2006 Lincoln zephyr.

Thats normal for it to smell like sulfur. Just unburnt gas. Most newer vehicles do cause of all the restrictions. Catalytic converters ect

Putting the car in neutral doesnt save any gas, the engine is still running no different than if the torque converter is dissipating the output power.... just unnecessary wear on the shifter and its linkage.

The fuel savings comes from the fact that the engine isn't sloshing fluid around in the torque converter. When in drive at a standstill, the fuel flow rate is 0.45 gallons/hour, but in neutral it drops down to 0.35 gallons per hour. It is a miniscule savings, but the wear and tear of the shifter, linkage, and transmission friction components is also miniscule. This trick works better in states like Arizona and Florida during summer where you can cook your transmission fluid by stopping in gear for too long.
