Metroid Prime 2: Echoes - Title Screen (Best Quality - Upscaled to 4K)

Since the original title screens (and their amazing music) was removed from the compilation Metroid Prime Trilogy, I went looking on youtube for them to find out ... there really just aren't a lot of high quality videos of them out there. Most of them are old and of low quality.
I captured this video from the NTSC version of Metroid Prime 2: Echoes on Gamecube, inserted into a Nintendo Wii. The Wii, using component cables, is then connected with the S-Video adapter into an Elgato HD Capture Card, allowing me to capture the footage at Elgato's best quality: 720x480, 59.94 fps progressive, 15.0 Mbps, with audio set to 224 kbps AAC. I then took that footage into Sony Vegas, where I applied a 0.001 sharpness filter to it into a 4K project file, where it was then exported as 4K 3840x2160 Long-GOP 59.94p. This is the result. I remember booting up prime 2 for the first time and still to this day after playing all mainline Metroid games this one holds a special place in my heart. Hopefully this gets a switch port or remaster seeing how well prime did.

Echoes is absolutely the Majora's Mask of Metroid. >is the sequel to the first 3D game in the series that instead of retreading familiar ground opted for more "experimental" gameplay that hasn't been done again in the series >reused a LOT of assets from the previous game but with a new twist to them >has such incredibly rushed development that it's a miracle that it end up being this good >is a side-story that doesn't feature the series' big villains >is much much darker than anything seen before or since in the series, easily being its darkest entry >is much more difficult (combat- and exploration-wiser) ight off the bat, being intended for hardcore players who need to have played and mastered the previous game, sadly something we don't see anymore >is somewhat dividing among the fans, being either a favorite or least favorite of the typical fan >its sequel which is on the next generation console is much more casual-oriented, easier and more colorful, yet still a great entry in the series

This game has the best title screen of the trilogy. Gives me chills every time I watch it. Kinda surprised that they put less effort into MP3C's title screen. One thing I would change is that I'd give it a bit more time to display the title before going into the demo gameplay footage.

They put less effort in MP3. The entire game is nothing more than a Wii motion control prototype. Remember, MP3 was one of the first games for the Wii. They spent more than an entire year just to get the motion controls to work. The gameplay and story suffered from that. MP1 and MP2 are much, much better quality. MP3 is the odd one out.

I'm so glad you did it in this way. I used to leave this title screen on just looping while I did things like homework or build legos. Hearing the sound effects of the title appearing on top of the music is ingrained in me and brought back more memories than just hearing the song does.

Just listening to the music on its own doesn't do it justice, it needs the *METROID PRIME 2: ECHOES* letter entering sounds to be complete . Here's to hoping Prime 2 gets Remastered for Switch. Just so I can see this BEAUTIFUL title screen in HD

Looks great, I love these intros. Shame they took them out of the Trilogy release. I actually never saw the file select screen from Corruption, I only played on Trilogy. I do remember seeing the title screen before it was released, with that absolutely incredible theme music.

The loss of this title screen is the only real regret I have regarding the Trilogy version. I get it, there's no need for a player to go through two titles screens, that's just padding. But even so, this title screen just does it for me. As the "Metroid" of the title erupts across the screen, the sound it makes gives me chills.

When I was a kid, i remember watching my dad playing super metroid on the snes, i didnt get at all what was the point of the game back then. Years later after the wii came out, my dad bought me a copy of Metroid prime 2 for christmas, at first I was a lil bit dissapointed that it wasnt another game, but I tryed it anyways. I will never forget this opening, the menu, and gorgeous atmosphere this master piece. After that i became a fan i played all the other titles as soon as i can. I love/like all of them (even other m and galactic federation), but to me Metroid Prime 2 as an introductory to the franchise is an always will be my favorite metroid, and this opening is legendary.

I remember getting this game pre-owned when I was a kid, only ever heard of Metroid in a magazine, but not much else. Put this in and it blew my 10 year old mind, it was otherworldy but immensely cool at the same time. I had a lot of good memories playing this, even the multiplayer.

Although there are many amazing tunes in video games I still think this song does a better job at accomplishing its goal than any other. It gives you chills, fills you with hope, fear, and dread, it sounds alien, and also sounds fantastic despite that. If this was the music screen for a horror game I would never get past this music.
