Yer an idiot Eric - hows that "keep the place quiet" ideology working out for you in Waikiki ? Waikiki is one of the busiest places I've ever been. I guess yer ok with that tho - Hawaiian's just love their Japanese YEN don't they ! Waikiki is little Tokyo - work on keeping it quiet tho you tool......
@erichuizar98286 жыл бұрын
@@mikeoxlong5843 I'm glad you took the time to type out your ignorant and poorly thought out comment. Maybe next time don't make yourself a fool on the internet. You clearly understood nothing and took everything in an odd direction that makes no sense. Maybe be more mature and actually look past your ignorance and learn something about respect for others and their cultural differences. I'm sorry you are upset at something you don't understand. The worst thing we do as humans is not allow ourselves to learn and appreciate cultures other than our own. Also I'll leave you with some good life advice. Don't go out insulting people without good reason or personal anger because it makes you look very bad. I don't mind mature debates or some criticism on good morals, but you handled this in a very toxic way. I forgive you, but I hope you learn from it. Still with all that said aloha, braddah!
@mynameischai_t6 жыл бұрын
@Jack Meov Here are some notes for you since I guess your spell check doesn't work: *You're *how's *you're *though *Hawaiians (no apostrophe, it's not a possessive noun in this context) The fact that you listed Waikiki as your one and only example on all of O`ahu already tells us that you don't know what you're talking about and you're probably not from here. I was born and raised here. There are way more tranquil, quiet, beautiful places on this island (as some other comments have mentioned below) that haven't been tainted by the busy and bustling traffic of an overabundance of people. Waikiki is quite busy, but it's still a great city where people can experience the culture of these islands and true aloha spirit. It may be similar to some versions of "little Tokyo" with food options, shops, and population density, but Waikiki is its own city and it was created in its own way. Waikiki may be one of the most popular spots to be for tourists and some locals but the more people there are, the more to share our aloha with, for those who wish to experience it. Other people who only see a busy city and too many people are missing out. And what do you mean by "Japanese YEN"? We're the 50th state in the United States (unfortunately, sadly, forcefully) so we use American currency. I'm assuming you meant "Hawaiian's" as in all the people who live here but that's not the true meaning of that word. "Hawaiian/Hawaiians" refers to people who have actual Hawaiian in their blood. Citizens of Hawai`i is what I think you meant to say as it refers to those who live here, and I guess the people you meant who supposedly "love their Japanese YEN". I love that our cities are full of people who want to see these islands and experience what we have here. I'm glad there are videos like this one to show others how beautiful this place is. I hope that if you come back here, you get to experience the true meaning of aloha and feel the love that the people of these islands have for everyone.

Advice for tourists: research the major thoroughfares in hawaii. Specifically, find out their names. Directions in hawaii aren’t given by designation; they’re given by landmarks and names. For example, you’re not going Westbound on the H-1, you’re going Ewabound (Ewa is a major town that is on the western side of the island) And it’s not called Route 72, it’s called Kalanianaole highway. If you ask where “Route 72” is, you’re not going to get an answer. If you ask where Kalanianaole Highway is, it’s much more helpful.

Matt Thank you! I love your personality, this video is Fantastic! Please mention no leaving garbage etc, Paradise doesn't need to be dumped on by all the tourists, including me, lets keep it clean:) Mother Earth:) Respect the Land, The Culture:)

Instantly hit like with the great intro. I also would like to live there one day

I was stationed there from 97-00. To wake up in the 808 State every day was very cool. People save all year to vacation there for two weeks. To live there is a privilege you don't realize you have until you are gone. Although I lived there, I acted like a tourist and got out and enjoyed being there the entire 3 years I was there.

Matt, Thanks so much for the informative and humorous video. Wasn’t going to go back to Oahu this year because of how touristy it is, but I’m now considering it.

This video is so helpful!! My husband and I are going to Oahu in a month and are in planning mode. Note, I really appreciate the food suggestions. I really don’t like feeling unprepared with the meals we will eat because it then cuts into the time we could spend on activities when trying to figure out what to eat while on the trip!

Why no mention of leeward side ? makaha, waianae, nanakuli, makua, Kaena Point, the old true hawaiian people and culture. Just as beautiful
@MattsTravelTips6 жыл бұрын
David Martin Totally agree...mostly no mention because I grew up spending my time on the windward side, so I just know it better. Also, I could only include so many things in the video without it becoming too long. But thanks for the comment:) Cheers, M

David Martin - Thank you! I spent my childhood on Oahu and enjoyed many wonderful times at Waianae and Nanakuli collecting shells. Great memories. Beautiful beaches on that side of the island. Oh, and Makaha! My brother used to surf there when we were kids in the 60’s.
@barbarawinsor84016 жыл бұрын
Matt, you could have included those spots if you hadn’t spent so much ridiculous time talking about food.

Hey Matt, so cool to learn that you spent your summers there. Mark's mum treated us to a trip there in 2009 and we stayed pretty much around Waikiki with a few day trips out to Hanauma Bay and the North Shore. A couple years ago though we house sat for Mark's cousin in Mililani for 2 weeks and really explored the island and the food. It was pure delight. Beautiful job on the video!
