Great video, Thank You. I was born on Ohau n raised in both Waianae n Pearl City Peninsula. Actually I have lived in Kona a few times and never knew all the interesting info you just shared with us. Gonna see if I can dig up the PBS Roots of Fire vid now. Again, Big Mahalo.

You didn't include the most active volcano in the world, Kilauea?

Very interesting, That new volcano growing under water would suggest Mauna Loa will become extinct one day

Everybody knows that. The Hawai'i chain of islands (137 of them) have all formed and eroded in a NE direction over millions of years as the pacific plate migrates over the hot spot. Look at a terrain map of the ocean.

One would think that when someone puts so much effort into a video about Hawaii Volcanoes... They would also do their research on the correct pronunciation of the Hawaiin Names! Spoken "Hay Oh" = Actually pronounced"Hay-E-Au" Spoken "pu u wa a wa a" = Actually pronounced as "pu u va a va a" The "W" in Hawaiin is pronounced as a "V" most often. Spoken "Ka lay a Kay ku a bay" = Actually pronounced as "Kay a la kay ku a" This one was really pronounced badly by the narrator. Spoken "Ka lu a vu ay" = Actually pronounced as "Ka ho o la vay" I can't believe he pronounced "Lanai" correctly! Though some persons pronounce it as "La nai i" Adding an extra "E" sound to the end of the word. And get rid of the "jumping flea"... music. That's Portuguese!

The ukulele adds to the video & it's not exactly like the string instrument brought over by the Portuguese to Hawai`i.

It would be nice if the narrator would research and pronounce the Hawaiian names accurately.
