Hawaii Hiker Guide: Makapu'u Tide Pools

The tide pools are absolutely a must-see. Turquoise water, crashing waves below you, and colorful fish.
Difficulty: Intermediate ( EHH so-so)

Park Time: AM to NOON hike!!
Fee: None
Parking: Free, open 7am-ish closes 7pm-ish
Terrain: Paved pathway, Lava rock trail
Amazing tide pools and blowholes formed in black lava rock on the East side of Oahu.
Follow the Makapu'u lighthouse trail (Which is paved). At the third rest stop, this is where you begin your descent to the tide pools. This trail will lead you to the tide pools. It gets very steep and some rocks can come loose so hike carefully. Like I said in the video it is a "be careful hike" The hike back up to the lighthouse trail is a great workout!
Again, the beginning of the hike (20 minutes on a paved trail) is very easy. However, the hike down to the tide pools can be challenging. Take your time and come prepared.
