More than eleven million years ago - long before humans inhabited the earth - the seabed deep in the ocean cracked. Lava poured out. Over thousands of years, the islands of Hawaii were formed from five volcanoes. Kilauea is the most active volcano on earth. The lava has been bubbling continuously since 1983. The violence of Kilauea, home of the fire goddess Pele, cannot be tamed.
