@The.Hawaiian.Kingdom
@The.Hawaiian.Kingdom Ай бұрын
When I was younger I used to write to the Spam headquarters in Minnesota asking them to move their headquarters and manufacturing plant to Hawai’i because we consume more Spam than anyone and have brought Spam FAR more publicity than anyone or any of their commercials/campaigns. I also added that people in Minnesota don’t even like Spam and the most famous food person who resides in Minnesota, Andrew Zmmern, who is known for eating crazy, gross foods that others would never eat. has publicly declared his hate for Spam multiple times. I told them that Hawai’i would be a better fit not only because it would provide jobs here for people who have been loyal to them, but it would save them on shipping costs since most of their Spams gonna come here anyways 🤭😆. I never heard back from them & they clearly didn’t agree because they didn’t move here. Oh well I tried. 😆
@freedomcat

shipping to the mainland would be too costly, same with getting meat and supplies.
@The.Hawaiian.Kingdom
@The.Hawaiian.Kingdom Ай бұрын
@@freedomcat Hawai’i is my main and only land, I believe you mean “the states”. They’re paying to ship the majority of their spam HERE, so they’d be saving money on shipping. It’s the craziest thing, but believe it or not, we actually have meat here too 😲😱. And they likely order supplies from Asia like the rest of import reliant America, and guess who’s closer to Asia… is it Hawai’i or Minnesota?! 🤔
@freedomcat
@freedomcat Ай бұрын
@@The.Hawaiian.Kingdom Minnesota has more land available for the factories in the islands of Hawaii and they are also closer to industrial farms. Using trains to ship to the west coast of the mainland is easier than trying to load them onto a ship and then ship them up to Asia when it is straight right across to Japan
@The.Hawaiian.Kingdom
@The.Hawaiian.Kingdom Ай бұрын
@@freedomcat “More land available for factories” ?!?!🤭🤭🤭, you really had to reach far and hard for that one. There’s only 2 spam factories. 1 in Minnesota and 1 in Nebraska. If you think we don’t have the land to accommodate a factory, you must not be from here. Again, we have meat here too, we have industrial farms here too. Sheesh you really don’t know anything about Hawai’i huh?! You do realize EVERYTHING imported/exported between Asia and the U.S. goes through Hawai’i, right?! It doesn’t matter if it’s via a ship or plane, it all comes through Hawai’i. So Spam is ordering their tins from Asia (most likely) shipping it to Minnesota, mind you it’s coming through Hawai’i FIRST before it goes to Minnesota, making the spam then shipping it back here and then to Asia. Not to mention Guam who eats the most spam than anywhere else in the world, even more than us (more than twice as much I believe) and their spam goes through Hawai’i first as well. South Korea. Guam and Hawai’i are the top 3 buyers of Spam BY FAR & all of that spam comes through Hawai’i first. The math ain’t mathing. They could easily keep their Minnesota factory for domestic products, shutdown the Nebraska factory and move it here instead where it would benefit the people who have supported their company the most.

Spam was a birthright in our family! Dad served during Korean wartime, (30months USMC) and he talked about mess hall serving spam everyday, you could have as much as he wanted! Born during the depression and the coming of WWII food was short and then rationed. So wasn’t a lot on the table or in the larder so Pap really developed a taste well the family developed and I would say we had spam once a week, I raised a family and we continued and my three adult children have a taste also. I order a case from Amazon every two months! Hot, cold, fried baked, however, always great! Now days they don’t have the spam slime anymore, I liked the slime too!😎
