The USS Arizona memorial was amazing to see when my ship pulled into port there. We were across the water from the memorial and it's something I'll never forget. Need to go back out and explore more countries again.

Hey Izzy, thanks for the memories by showing this old, retired sailor when you visited the Pearl Harbor memorial, The Arizonia memorial, & the USS Bowfin Museum. I've spent (TAD) temporary active duty there in Pearl Harbor twice in my Navy career and worked in the shipyard that you can see from across the Arizonia Memorial. Eventually I will re-visit Hawaii, but this time as a tourist on vacation instead of on military orders. Keep traveling and I look forward to your next "Izzadate" 😉

I vacationed in Maui about 15 or 20 years ago. Beautiful place but I didn't see quite the views you shared. I enjoyed watching this as it kind of took me back. I have some funny stories from this trip. Also fun fact, I broke my hand on the very first day there. I jumped into an ocean wave and the Ocean said "Not Today"....Anyway. I appreciate you as a person, very centered. I loved you stating that you wanted to be present for your friends...respectable! Hiking is so fun, having proper shoes for it makes a huuuuge difference, can't believe you went in crocs lmao. I live in TX so it's a lot more flat unfortunately. But I do go to Idaho once a year and the hikes there are insane in the mountains, plus you can kayak down the rivers. I bet you have a lot of cool hikes around LA too with the mountains right outside the city. One thing we do have in TX is the USS Lexington which is another WW2 ship, although it's an aircraft carrier not a submarine, so it's gigantic. Hawaii looked amazing, I will have to go there myself one of these days, hope you had fun on your trip, and excited to see what you do for the next date 😁

That "line" going up the mountain is called the Kokohead trail. It's literally an old train track that goes up this super steep incline. I did that climb and kept thinking to myself the entire time, "What was I thinking?!"... Then the second time I went up (lol) I kept trying to convince myself, "It's not that bad." That was a lie. I'm proud of the fact that I was able to do that hike more than once... but never again. You should really do it. It's not that bad. 😏

Damn, the thing I miss the most about Hawaii is the food... 🤤That Meat Jun and Zippys Korean Fired Chicken was my shit while growing up. I heard you can get Meat Jun at Broken Mouth in LA. I haven't tried it since its quite a trek for me coming from SD.
