Hawaii Rainbow Warriors pregame "Tika Tonu" haka against the Ohio State Buckeyes on Sept. 12, 2016. Ohio State won 38-0. The person who recorded this is terrible.

I'd like to be a little more specific and say "Polynesian." I know there are plenty of people here who want to distinguish Māori from kanaka, but they conveniently forget that we are one people spread out over many islands. I know some of the māori creation stories. Your people came to Aotearoa on waʻa (waka). The māori traditions acknowledge the fact that they came from elsewhere. Exactly where they came from is not important. But it is safe to assume that many of them came from other parts of Polynesia, made evident in the naming of certain places (like "Havaiki" or "Te Maunga") that share their names with older place names found in other parts of Polynesia. As a person learning ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi, I can confidently say that I can understand some of the words being said in the haka, which leads me to wonder if there really is much of a difference. Some of the word variations are about as different as a New Yorker speaking to a Californian. Same language; different dialect. Words like "tapu/kapu/tabu", "kava/ʻawa", "rangi/lani", "waka/waʻa", "aroha/aloha/talofa", "tiki/kiʻi" "tāne/kāne", "hine", and our deity names all make me wonder whether the differences that people here are pointing out are fabricated attempts at differentiating something that is not meant to be different at all. People here who are upset about the use of Māori haka outside of Aotearoa should at least be openminded enough to allow other polynesian cultures (to whom some iwi may descend from) to practice the dance. As long as the meaning is not lost, it should be okay for other polynesians to use the haka, mostly due to the minute variations in our languages that allows us to understand it, even in other polynesian languages aside from Māori. Besides, this specific chant has nothing to do with war and is more about overcoming the obstacles in your life.

+Kana D. The Maori's aren't like that, they're getting offended that a non-fully Maori team is doing the type of Haka preserved for only actual Maori's or those with Maori blood in their families e.g. Mom or Dad. Yes you can say that Maori's, Hawaiians they're both poly's and so on and so on so it doesn't matter, but you don't see Samoans doing the a Maori Haka and poly's, you don't see Tongans doing it and their poly's. So point is Maori people have all the right to be offended by it.
