But Hawaiian don’t do the haka
@fighterck62414 жыл бұрын
@@theone-n-only47 then they can do the Ai'ha'a. It doesn't matter bc most of us non-Polynesian people will still end up calling it the Haka. I don't see as much salt from Ghanaians when a Nigerian does the Azonto dance. In the end we are all West Africans. So why is it like this with Polynesians?
@scootergrant86834 жыл бұрын
That wouldn't work. The Ai'ha'a or Haka or whatever the nation calls their dance is unique (even though some phrases are very similar)to them and should be respected for what it is worth and not just a 'show off thing' for other regions that aren't even associated to use.
@armenhaigazuni19994 жыл бұрын
Wouldn't be a "show off thing" but rather a great way to promote and protect their native culture. Once something like that gains that much (positive) public visibility, it's almost impossible it'll die out anytime soon.

@@Jake-oc3vx the Hawaiians have adopted the haka. I don't know why. The haka is done to honour the god Tū-mata-uenga. I'm Māori. We also do things during it no other Polynesians do for theirs such as the pukana (sticking out ones tongue). Again the Hawaiians have adopted this. I have no idea why since to my knowledge they don't worship Tū-mata-uenga like we do. They worship Tangaloa.

Hi I’m from Hawaii! This is a War Chant. We used this to fear the opponent and to challenge them most people know this as Haka dances. There not only in Maori culture but also in Hawaiian we use them in Tahitian dances. This is not to hype them up this is a challenge to the opposite team. This is our culture and I hope you appreciate it☺️☺️Mostly Polynesians use Warrior Chants and Haka dances. I’m Polynesian and Native American and I’m proud♥️🌺

May I suggest you try the Ha'a instead? It is specifically Hawaiian. It would benefit all of those involved to know their own wardance and spread the culture of Hawaii. Uplift your language and culture and be proud. I see some other teams have already started doing the ha'a. I look forward to Hawaiians embracing their culture and proudly displaying it to us all.
@anthonybarnes19034 жыл бұрын
Not everyone in Hawaii is Polynesian though. If I'm correct, most people in modern day Hawaii actually aren't Polynesian at all, and they probably live near europeanized beaches. Which means they wouldn't know the difference between the haka, Siva tau, and ai'ha'a. I'm not Polynesian, I'm African; so if I spelled anything wrong, forgive me.
@anditsme28914 жыл бұрын
@@anthonybarnes1903 Tuwharetoas point is that native Hawaiins and other locals have all the power in the world to show case their Haka or equivalent and they should, but the Haka they have used is a Maori Haka called Tika Tonu from a tribe called Ngati Kahungunu. Moari are only around 16-20% of the NZ population but theres no way Maori will ever let the culture dwindle and die.

Devin Davis: I agree 100% I even wrote a letter to the editor in our local newspaper saying they worry more aboutdoing the ha'a than the game itself. Hawaii is notorious for their slow starts. Why? because they spend their pregame time on visualizing their ha'a instead pf visualizing their game assignments.

If you were to watch a full American football game from start to finish, I'm sure the gears would start turning in your head, the two games are very similar.
