I just did the fix. The next 2 day the truck was out in steady rain for hours with no leak. So far so good. Thanks for the fix.

Thank you, sir. I had mine replaced at 1,500 miles, and now at 18,000 its leaking again. Im going to have it replaced (again) under warranty. After that, when I'm sure they did it right, I'm going to perform your remedy for added measure.

@GatorOverland thank you. This is my 1st jeep. Doors leak top and bottom, but the rear window is bad. It drips onto seat.

This should fix the rear.. can’t speak for the doors.. they do drip from the seal when the door is open while it’s raining.

Is this tubing UV resistant? Will it decay in the TX sun??
@GatorOverland9 ай бұрын
Most materials are subject to UV degradation, and there is potential for that overtime for sure. It is not specified on the material description to be UV resistant other than not for fuel/oil use… At $14 you can replace it over and over should it decay prematurely.

Is there any reason you don't tape it off and fill the gap with black silicone ? Seems to me it would certainly solve the problem and most likely last alot longer , granted it probably not the best way to hold for everyone
@GatorOverland10 ай бұрын
That’s a great question.. this is non invasive install.. you could take the time tape it off and seal it, but good luck getting it off if you actually needed to change it out.

Hey thank you so much when I go to the link it says 3mm did the link change?
@GatorOverland8 ай бұрын
No, I believe that’s all that’s available at this time via that link… Just search 7 mm OD silicone vacuum tubing and something will pop up… You need 8ft minimum .. you can get this at the local auto parts store as well. Hopefully the link becomes available soon… That video has already generated so many views that it might’ve sold out of the 7 mm size.. you can also search for 9/32” OD, which is the US equivalent

hpsperformanceproducts.com/products/hps-high-temp-silicone-vacuum-hose-tubing-coolant-overflow-tube-htsvh Here is a good source sold by the foot. Enter the quantity units = feet.. if you want 10ft get qty 10.. It’s a bit more expensive but it’s way cheaper than $1000

I was able to get the top and sides completed but there no way I can get this tubing in the bottom channel of the window. Any recommendations of techniques or different tubing that could fit?
@GatorOverland9 ай бұрын
The main priority would be the top and the side… I only went completely around the bottom for looks… You can maybe try a smaller diameter hose, and it would possibly look seamless… Only you would notice if anything…

After a year of wet socks smell when it rains, I’ve had three months with no issues.. it works great
@malachi237110 ай бұрын
Just an fyi, the isopropyl, alcohol and water solution is interesting… Please be aware that if you get that on your paint you could be removing whatever protective coating/wax it touches on the vehicle… so you will need to reapply whatever is protecting your car paint.
@GatorOverland10 ай бұрын
The is good to be aware of. I’m not sure what composition percentage proves damaging, and it might be different from black hardtop vs color matched, but I haven’t seen any negative effects for the 50/50 mix.. I don’t typically wax my vehicle, so minimal loss for me.. worth it to fix the leak😉
@malachi237110 ай бұрын
@@GatorOverland it’s common for auto detailers to use a 50/50 mix to remove old protection before applying new protection.

😂😂 it’s as simple as pushing tube into a crack.. not much more I can do other and give an idea and say that’s how you do it.. off it doesn’t fit with the advised 7mm, get 6 or 5mm.. the follow up is after over a year of leaking and smelling like wet socks every time it rained, it’s now been 3mos of no leaks.. 🤘🏼

@GatorOverland, I'm not sure how valuable that was. It's great to see someone putting a video out about this. I'm in several gladiator sites and a guy in Louisiana had the same issue. He shared this with me. Better than being told ( by the glass shop ) we have only cut one out, and we damaged the top. Then the dealership tells me if that happens we will keep your gladiator until the new top arrives, gets painted, then installed. Really?, how long is that?, can be minimum of 6 months if your lucky. Nope, I'm Irish, but not a gambler. So I did this. Works like a charm, I used a popsicle stick, left it open on the bottom so it can drain. Love the outcome. Thanks again for your video. ✌️

simple r and I job done by a pro would solve this issue
@GatorOverland10 ай бұрын
That’s the problem, even the pros have trouble removing and installing the glass just to replace the seal, and often times the damaging the top or the glass.. this is a non-invasive remedy to avoid having to deal with dealers or costly issues the may develop, especially for folks out of warranty.
