I was not born in this country so when I became pregnant with my now teen son, I looked up places for gyn care and bumped into planned parenthood. Of course I made an appointmemt and went down there. I wanted to plan my parenthood. Lol. While there, I qas in a room with the father of my child and in walked a Hispanic lady. She spoke to me and pleaded with me telling me what a gift my baby was, while giving my son's father an accusatory and disgusted look. She began to preach against abortion. I was so confused and wondered what the heck she was talking about. Where were the people that were there to help me plan my parenting journey? She also spoke to me when I was alone in the room, comforting me and telling me happy things about having a baby. I agreed with her that my child was precious but thought, that went without say. When she told me I could leave, thinking she had convinced me of whatever it was she thought she was convincing me of, I left in a jiffy. I thought to myself, I no longer want to see a gyn there. It wasn't until around the time of Mr Trump's presidency, either a little before or after he won (maybe before), that I realized what that place was. I was so shocked. The lady was an angel though.

Im a single mother after my birth control pills failed on me bc i was being irresponsible and i was very afraid of life as a single mother and the changes i would face but i never once i thought about killing my child over the mistakes i had made. I stopped everything i did to prepare and save money for my baby and moved back with family memebers who were extremely happy and supportive. I got a better paying job and did not quit college just managed the hours so i had as much time as possible caring for him and left him with family i trusted while i was gone maybe a few hours a day. My son is the best thing that has happened to me and i love a cherish every single moment with him. I know many people see single mothers as a poor choice for the child and i understand their concerns based on the facts out there but i will try and put my baby above all else to make sure he has everything he needs to succeed in life. Every life is precious and beautiful and to end one so innocent and not even give it a fighting chance is wrong period. Thank you so much for what you do and bless you and your family

As Mother to a Son his Father & I adopted 31 years ago, we are so grateful for his life. My Son’s birth Mom was in no position to parent him. As an elementary-aged little girl, Laura & her 2 siblings were removed from their home for abuse & neglect. She grew up in foster care, a ward of the State, separated from her siblings. Finally she landed in a girl’s group home until the State of Texas emancipated her at the age of 18. The birth Father denied his role, she had zero parental support, zero family support, & her only safety net was the State of Texas. I am not pro-choice but if anyone could have justified having an abortion based on a pro-choice rationale, it was Laura. Instead, she chose to let her child live. Rather than asking her baby to sacrifice his life for hers, she sacrificed 9 months of her life, for him. The Methodist Mission Home gave her a soft place to land & live with no obligation. She could choose to parent, or make a plan for adoption. During our time there, we saw more than 1 Mom choose to parent, many chose an adoption plan. Regardless of her final decision, Laura received the love & kindness of strangers, support, counseling, healthcare for her & her baby, along with a comfortable, cozy, & loving place to live, complete with a built-in Grandma, who was there & available 24 x 7. We are, and will always be, eternally grateful to Laura & to the Methodist Mission Home in San Antonio, TX.

@@barbaraibiel yes, thats true & she doesn’t have to parent that child. I feel that every baby has the right to live, and as discussed in this video, certainly a baby born alive. Our ability in medicine has drastically changed over the past years. The twins my grandmother delivered early around the year 1920, while alone & with no way to call for help, may very well have survived more than the little while they did if born today. The notion of deliberately denying care to an infant, born alive, because the woman who delivered the child doesn’t want to be a Mother is shocking to me.

@@judyoneal7887 “she doesn’t have to parent that child.” Yes, once a baby is born. “I feel that every baby has the right to live, and as discussed in this video, certainly a baby born alive.” Where do you, “pro-lifers”, come up with these completely failed abortion scenarios? The fetus is cutup before it is taken out of the uterus. It does not survive. You make up these stories to come up with these hypothetical examples, when that is not at all what happens during abortion.

@@barbaraibiel it is likely rare considering the number of abortions that take place every day in the US but there are cases when this does happen. Do you recall the bill put forth in Virginia that was allowing abortion with no time limits? It would be permitted right up to 9 months in the Mothers physical or mental health was in jeopardy. It required sign-off by just 1 physician. The bill was struck down, but people in power & many pro-choice folks likely still hold this mindset. The question came up about what would happen if the baby were born alive & the response was that (I’m paraphrasing here) a discussion would take place with the mother/family on next steps. Among other things, it’s this kind of mindset that “us pro-lifers” are speaking up about. Fortunately, science & medicine is ever advancing. These days, babies still in utero can have live saving or life changing surgery. The case of Spina Bifida is an example I know of. Of course Mother & baby are given a general anesthesia. Now imagine a baby the same gestational age being aborted. Does he/she get a general anesthesia before being killed & then chopped up? Honestly, I don’t know but abortion at any stage is barbaric to me. I’m not here to fight, or to be unkind. I’m not saying it’s not a hard, even a traumatic event for Mom but surely there can be a solution that doesn’t have to include killing the baby. That’s all I’m saying.

@@barbaraibiel There are pills that induce labor which are given in the early stages of pregnancy to abort. The woman will cramp and bleed, but the fetus is not always ejected. If said woman doesn't make a follow up with a Ob GYN to control the abortion success, she wouldn't known if she was still pregnant. Abortion pills success rate declines with every passing pregnancy day at 10%. Always frame your arguments and represent yourself in such a way that a third party would look at your comments and the other person's comments and clearly see who is more informed, calmer, and basing their arguments on logic and reasoning. When they flip out and turn hostile let them, it just makes it obvious your argument is stronger than theirs. When they commit a logical fallacy or have flawed reasoning point it out, not because they will ever change their minds, but because someone else might think the same way and realize it's flawed. Seven years ago she was still in a lot of trouble, and my son was still in the affects of his. I was absolutely fried for awhile, wondered if I would survive the stress. For several years I had been rescuing my kids, after giving them the best childhood i could. They kept on making poor choices. Their dad had died when they were 8 and 10. I cried out to God for both my adult kids. God heard and supplied incredibly appropriate spouses for each of them, honestly it was just when I knew I couldn't go on any further with their problems ( and wondered how they could!) . I want to encourage older parents who are worried about their grown kids. PRAY. Pour your heart out to Jesus, keep plodding along, walk with Christ yourself, and pray for those adult kids of yours.( Or whatever age they are) Ask others to pray also. So this is something that I think is super silly but I wonder if there are others out there that have had the same realization - I knew that store bought chicken was chicken but I didn't connect it with an actual egg laying chicken. That connection between the two was broken or unrealized, however you want to say it. I think my abortion was akin to that. I knew what I was doing but didn't full realize what I was doing. Even now, saying the words "I had an abortion" is hard and gut clenching for me to write. I'm so ashamed of myself for that act. Does that one act define everything about me? No, of course not. @@gemma8611 because the goal of foster care is “family reunification”. Adoption is always a last resort in foster care. If a mom puts her child up for adoption with an adoption agency (not foster care), their child will immediately get placed with a forever family that the mom gets to choose herself. She also gets to choose if she wants an open adoption or a closed adoption. In an open adoption, she gets to maintain a relationship with the family who adopted her child and she gets regular updates. With foster care, the child only gets adopted after years and years of exhausting all avenues to try to get the child into the home of someone in the mom’s family or back into the mom’s home. I think moms who put their children into foster care don’t actually understand the role of foster care. It’s function is not the same as that of an adoption agency. I hope this helps! I think they believe in some other 'miracle' ... such as a having a clear conscience later in life when they actually WANT to start a family.... I was 16 when I fell pregnant with my 1st child, and could not be prouder of the wonderful father he has become to his own child now at age 30. His dad wasn't a full time fixture in his life, but I was!... and I made sure to do ALL that I could to secure a great future for him and subsequent siblings. I was offered abortion and was so offended by the offer, I would NEVER have a good enough reason to terminate another innocent life, no matter how difficult my own life would be as a result of that choice. I was still a child myself but I grew up alongside him and it was a beautiful experience despite financial difficulty on the way. I would not change a thing.

I discovered something that sometimes makes people realize the importance of baby's lives. I tell them that a fetus is just as much of a stage in life as it is to be a two-year-old a 20-year-old a 60-year-old and 80 year old and a 100 year old it's all a stage in life no matter how young or how old you're still alive. That is a viewpoint that ignores the life, livelihood, and bodily autonomy of the pregnant woman. Does the 90 year old woman have the right to make decisions about her medical care? Of course! @@TheSwissHillbilly 1. I think everybody agrees that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. 2. Actually, law defines a "human being" as having been born alive. Roe v Wade confirms that as does the American Medical Association, the American Nurses Association, and the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. 4.
