Sam Finucane Iunnie, too much was left to our superstar players again, and our bottom 6 or 7 players contributed next to nothing. It's been the story of our season, it's why we often don't do enough to win these close finishes, and why we may be missing the finals for only the second time since 2006. Even if we win the last 2 games to scrape into the 8, I honestly believe we will only be making up the numbers in the finals. I don't like our chances of winning our first ever interstate final, and our MCG record is very poor right now.

Neddy Boy we have a high percentage so we have to beat Freo and GCS without a required margin, and we have to keep an eye on a few teams like: Sydney Port Adelaide North Melbourne Collingwood (possibly) So 2 fighting teams make it, while 2 miss out.

Mate, the free kicks were 23 apiece. Hawthorn got the same number of frees as Geelong, so you can't possibly say that the umpires favoured Geelong this time around.

Whd Clan, I didn't see the match, due to it not being on free to air TV. Therefore it would be difficult for me to say whether that would be a legitimate reason or not as to which team got paid the frees, where they got them, why they got them, and at what stage of the game that they got them.

Chloe, I agree. It was a very poor decision. Unfortunately though it might be a case of what goes around comes around. Hawthorn did far more than their fair share of deliberate rushed behinds to the Cats in the 2008 Grand Final which were legitimately deliberate but were not paid at the time. Now that the rule has been brought in they have become victims of their own wrongdoing. Thankfully it didn't cost them the 4 points this time around, but it could some other time. Anyway, congratulations on the result. The Hawks played better for longer, and usually the team which plays better for longer wins. The Cats rely too heavily on their superstars, and get next to nothing out of their bottom tier of players.

Jason Evans, Geelong has had several of its best players out in every single match so far this season. Richmond had no more of their best 22 missing than what Geelong had. Anyway, you can't keep using injuries as a valid excuse for a team losing. Teams have to make do with what's available. If it's not good enough, then that's just too bad.

Jason Evans, that's true. Richmond did beat Geelong. What I have noticed a lot lately and was trying to point out is that many people tend to use injuries as an excuse whenever their team gets beaten. When Geelong gets beaten it's usually because they don't get enough out of their bottom tier of players, and too much is left to their superstars. It happened again against the Tigers.

No, geelong would've had to be so lucky to win. We basically beat them everywhere and the umps helped them in the end but hawthorn actually got it inside their 50 without the help from the umpires. They should never have had the chance to win, they got lucky enough that they could've won. Hawthorn's last bit of play shows why we had the W in the bag. Because geelong's pressure was so bad, as well as their efficiency.

Hawthorn crowd disrespecting Gary Ablett was absolute disgrace on their part. The rushed behind has been a blight on the game since 2008 - previously a GENTLEMAN'S AGREEMENT completely destroyed by Hawthorn - and they are still doing it! If there is a Hilary Clinton in football, it is Hawthorn. Fair dinkum, Hawthorn football club is a disgrace to the nation. Australians do not win at all costs. Australians are supposed to play within the rules.
