Thanks for sharing. You’ll have a nice setup. I’d like to do some bailage one day.👍🏻

Gerrald Farms Thank you! Balage is great feed for sure! It's taken us a very long time to get this system together! We did feed dry hay and four pounds of 16%protein dairy grain for years! We never pushed our cows, but this system has evolved into a good for us way of storing our hay! Have a great evening and thank you again, Lynette and Peter

Had the opportunity to visit Anderson,s plant in Canada. Build quality was so much higher than other manufacturers.

Very nice video. I like to see the trails through the trees. 6 years ago, most every farmer in our area, took out most all fence rows, trees, and even the terraces that kept rain from washing the hills sides out. They think farming every square inch is the way to go. Now, rain washes the top soil, no wild plum bushes for the pheasants and quail. It is a sad state of affairs. I would like to come up with a small bale wrapper so I could get my hay off before it heads out. Better quality feed for my horses. Some day. Some day. Happy Trails Lynette and Peter.

Great video Lynette! That bale wrapper is an amazing piece of equipment. My brother and I have debated back in forth about doing silage bales or keep chopping our like we do. Baling the hay would be quicker but we don't own a round baler capable of baling silage bales or a bale wrapper. I guess for now we'll keep chopping our hay. Or if you are doing dry hay like you guys are then you have the option of putting it up a little wetter and the bales will still keep when they are wrapped. I think that bale wrapper was a good investment for you guys. Anyways talk later and I look forward to your next video!

Thank you Paul! We were in an interesting situation that made us buy that wrapper! We have crazy weather here in NY and we were farming 125 acres in another county when on our farm first cutting came very early and very wet and the other farm was so wet that we couldn't get on it until early August that year! So needless to say we needed something that could handle all that wet hay at different harvest dates! We thought of putting a silo because we have a beautiful older chopper with both hay and corn head, but opted for the wrapper! We may put up a silo in the future! Oh the decisions we all face are so much fun because there are so many positives to having a silo! Maybe when I do the video on the wrapper, you could do one on the benefits and pitfalls of bagging or using a silo and we could link them! I think the comparison would be interesting! Have a great day, Lynette

What model of round baler are you using? I'm surprised you can run it with that size tractor.

Those bales look dry do you have any concerns about them moulding the once there wrapped

It has been super dry here and one reason why we tried this hay in a day! We could have cut that and bailed it the following day as dry hay! If we had put less wraps of plastic on( you are totally right- it would possibly end up with mold! )! We dont have a moisture tester, but we hope there is (just enough) to make bailage! We put eight wraps on, so we should be good! I will do a video on this Hay in A Day! We did mark it in our records, so we can see how good it comes out! Have a great day and thank you for watching!
