It looks like the motor holds pretty well. The last video I ever saw of someone trying to Hyabusa Swap a Miata showed it constantly stalling so I was under the impression that the Miata platform was just too heavy to the Hyabusa motor.
@spec13motorsports10 ай бұрын
It holds up great! Very stout car power plant if you keep the load to a reasonable level. I'm not surprised they were stalling it a bunch, the clutch is extremely touchy. I still stall it from time to time haha

This is awesome! How much does the car weigh with the busa engine? Have you turbo'ed one?
@spec13motorsportsАй бұрын
@nickrains115 this car weighs 1,600lbs. We haven't turbo'd one yet, but we're working on a Turbo kit for next year. Personally, we prefer the stroker kits on a track build. Less power, but less weight and more reliable. For a street build, a Turbo would be incredible!

I wouldn't call it snap oversteer, that's kind of a specific thing. It definitely power-over slides pretty easily though!

What kind of lap times and on what tire setup?
@spec13motorsports Жыл бұрын
Well, this test day was done with the 4.3 diff which limited top speed to 100mph. Given that, I think I had a few laps in the low 1:50's. At limerock I got a chance to test with a 3.9 diff and did a 59s lap right off the trailer and then got black flagged for exceeding the sound limit. Both this car and the Exocet I built are running take-offs from my Spec Miata. They're 205 55 15 Toyo RR'S

What is the power and weight
@spec13motorsports7 ай бұрын
The car is 1,600lbs without driver, and has a gen 1 hayabusa which makes about 175hp. Our Exocet weighs roughly 1200lbs and has a gen 2 hayabusa making about 197hp.

@@spec13motorsports Is this any faster than a Spec miata?
@spec13motorsports7 ай бұрын
@superbarnie yes, it is MUCH faster than a spec Miata. It will likely be about NASA ST4/TT4 pace with stock motor and no aero, but I'm currently working on an ST3/TT3 trim which will have aero and a 1507cc stroker hayabusa engine.

Hi, whats the cost on this build? And how hard is it to get the car down to 1600lbs?? Awesome stuff
@spec13motorsports2 ай бұрын
@dmcharlestt4945 the all in cost will vary depending on how you source the engine, either from a salvage bike and then part out, or buy every engine component you'll need individually. Buying a running salvage bike is a great option because after parting out all the stuff you don't need, you'll end up getting the engine for free and possibly pocketing a few bucks. The base kit price is $3800, and this includes virtually everything you'll need to get going other than shifter (there are several options) and ppf delete. Getting down to 1600lbs for a track only build would be pretty easy. There's just so much stuff you can delete if you're not worried about having heat or a radio. If you need to retain some luxuries such as lights or an interior, it may be a challenge. I'll be weighing v2.0 of this car soon. We did a decent amount of cutting!
@dmcharlestt49452 ай бұрын
@spec13motorsports Awesome. And this is only for the NA miata? Or will you be doing an NB kit? Though I suspect I'd need to go turbo for the NB's extra weight. I'm looking to build purely for racing and the competition is a K24 civic doing 250whp weighing around 1750lbs.
@spec13motorsports2 ай бұрын
@dmcharlestt4945 the kit works with na, nb, and Exocet. Rather than a Turbo, we would strongly recommend doing a stroker kit, like I'm the Radical sr3

Do you think this engine will work great in a 2000lb car?
@spec13motorsports4 ай бұрын
It would work great, so long as you don't expect to go 200mph! Haha keeping the weight down is key. For instance, at 1,600lbs a speed of 130mph would be roughly equivalent kinetic energy to a Hayabusa motorcycle going 185mph.

Do you have a lot of rake in the car? I lowered the rear of my ls3 a tiny bit (i can't remember the exact number, but it was two turns on each the rear coilovers) and my ability to put down power went up astronomically. It looks like you're fighting it on corner exit. Super cool car!
@spec13motorsports11 ай бұрын
There isn't much rake in the car, though less would certainly help. We also run 3 cars in spec Miata, and that's one of the only ways we have to tune suspension balance. It's amazing how much of a difference a half a turn makes!

@julitacahyasari7265 the stock Hayabusa sequential transmission! With over 300lbs of weight reduction and around a 130mph top speed, loading does not exceed the factory hayabusa thresholds. This makes for a super fun, reliable track car!
