What I can piece together is that there was a little girl and her big brother, her bother barely gave her any attention and that made her sad... So, for dress up at school, she dressed up as his favorite character(assuming its Hayami-chan)in order to get his attention... But well...stranger danger, she ran into a man that claimed to knoe her Brother and well...guessing from how creepy he apparently acted...probably harmed her both physically and possibly sexualy. She most likely died after that incident and her soul possessed the DVD Now why she kills people that watches it? Who knows. She may think you're her brother and is just excited to show off her costume, but kills you instead... Or she could mistake you for the man that harmed her, but he's already in this...world that she pulls the character into or maybe that's an illusion. So pretty much everything up to why she's doing this is what I put together.

The music that starts at 27:20 , I've heard it before in another horror game but I've never been able to find what it's called. I really like it- Does anyone know what that soundtrack is called? It's probably something royalty free if people can use it freely in their games- EDIT: I bought the supporter edition of the game just to get that OST (and hey, it helps the developer so it's a win-win!). The OST is tilted 'Total Overdose', but I can't find that anywhere on KZbin. Oh well, I have the file now. If anyone can find that soundtrack on here or another website, props to you! But now I can finally rest easy.

Just a random thought while watching the gameplay for that, but am I the only one who have a hard time accepting all the "bad" ghosts and monsters in fiction? Somehow, I'm always under the impression that very few ghosts, spirits or monsters would actually be nefarious if people didn't fear them. Humans are rarely friendly to them, so they have no reason to be friendly either. I think more games should offer the opportunity to approach a monster in a friendly manner instead of escaping or attacking. And I don't mean it in an Undertale style (though I guess it counts). Really, genuinely be nice instead of attacking or escaping, in a game that would actually have a horror setting.

It's a neat spin on the fnaf-like genre of games. This and the previous one too maybe. Nearly all games in the game style that emulates fnaf so far had been unsubtle that they were inspired from fnaf as they were direct fan games and fan spin offs. This one is a point and click through and through, though the game play is clearly fnaf inspired, it doesn't directly state it explicitly like everyone else seems to do. So that was cool.

So, my take in this game its The little girl feels bad because she doesnt get attention from her brother at all so she decides to dress up as her brothers favorite character, hayami-chan, in her way back home to surprise her brother she's aproached by a stranger described as "a large man" who said that he liked her outfit (he probably was a fan of the anime her brother watched) and he proclaims that he knows her brother and that he borrowed some movies from him at home and that he wants to return them, she gets convinced and goes with him. Now i dont really think the tapes are possesed, more like they are tapes of the girl being tortured, now why i get this idea?, in the first game if you pay attention to the sounds of the TV you can hear things like continued screams and pained sounds, you can hear thuds of some sort too, and almost breathless like sounds, and they all sound female like, also we have to have in mind that in the beggining, when we read the text its says "the man smirked at me and said "That one is a hidden gem". If its hard to understand im very sorry, english is not my main lenguage and sometimes it can be hard to express myself really well, so if im redundant in my words i am very sorry. (plus thank you for reading my theory.)
