I think it was A ARon who I first saw look at the PC stats, and said "with gun reload like this, she's a tier 8 Shiratsuyu"...and I enjoyed Hatsuharu and Shiratsuyu, so yes...going to grind out the campaign

I mean kind of yeag...Shell alpha is 350 more and reload a second faster (stock) so DPM is nearly 100,000 higher than Shiratsuyu. Hayate is a nasty boat

Legends got this ability of making bad ships on PC really good, was clearly expecting a ship to powercrep the Yugumo but instead we got a good little gunboat...

Well sometimes 😄 our Cossack sucks, Charles Hughes has 1 less turret, our Flandre has short range secondaries, stock Italian cruisers and BBs don't have SAP main guns, etc But you're also right. I mean look at our California, Weimar, Hayate

I have a highly unconventional build that you might want to try. 2 torpedo reload boosters, (used the Japanese carrier commander) double concealment build. Twice per game you can absolutely flood areas with torps. Try not to take fair gunfights because you lose the ability to fight with a damaged engine. It's really strong at the beginning and end of games when caps attract reds. Catching someone after they dodge your first salvo is hilarious

Avrora was free, and I wanted Littorio and Montpelier at the time, and semi wanted Azuma. so it was cheaper to gamble on 5 crates (2500 ea) than it was to get 3 commanders (5000 ea), so sure enough I got Yukikaze first, who I didnt want. then Azuma, Montpelier, then Littorio in that order. only one I didnt end up with is the CV commander.

Same as yourself, I am OG PC. I love my gunboats, US DD's are great fun and it's what I cut my teeth on, but for winning battles, I'll take Brit DD. Just better at everything... Don't get me wrong, I'll still get it, but hydro/smoke wins games...

Reminds me of the AL yukikaze in terms of how the guns perform. I'm build for guns and absolutely love her. This ship seems like the big sister to AL yukikaze so I'm definitely gonna pick this. Won't say I'm amazing with my gunboats but think this one has potential for being my pick at t8. A random history fact on the yukikaze, in my profile picture is her sister ship hamakaze, both those 2 served with each other durin tengo. Speaking which I really should change my yt name to match the rest my aliases

So despite your great praise of the boat, I’m still not sold on wanting to grind for the ship… simply because of the commander I’d need to put on it. Already got a lot of resources on Space Fishy and we only have the Akizuki as another IJN Gunboat, so if I get this I’d need to level up a different commander for use on one ship (I don’t have Akizuki yet). Might be more of an investment for future gunboats, but just feels right now like I’d get the ship and then need to boost another commander specifically for it… Then again, I did get Riegerwald and Lightful to 16L3 for pretty much one or two ships each, so what do I know about being resourceful?

Yeah Kurita or Togo would be the best options to ME, but you could run Tanaka and do just fine for real. 4 second gun reliad is like 190k HE DPM. That still saucy AF

🤔, i am really more inclined to reducing the 🔥out of that torp reload, as the guns are already pretty good. Like what can you really reduce, like a second out of 4? And besides the majority of the guns are still in the back, so i think it should more of a get in, torp and shoot my way out of situations...You can take out almost a minute off the torp reload, and if you use Togo, you can get two torpedo reload boosters, but I will see for myself when I can.

When your alpha strike is 12,900... one second is a lot haha. It's the difference between 193,500 DPM and 258,000 DPM. If I want torps I'll play Yugumo or Shima, but to each their own!

@@DerkaGames The stats are wrong. Hayate actually has equal concealment to the Yugumo and the Shima making it the first (in my opinion) Stealth gun/torpedo boat. Enjoy the Hayate now because it's going to get nerfed.

@@DerkaGames Facts: I'm using Tanaka with inspiration Bey, Swirski (all commanders maxed out with 4 commendations) on the Hayate, Yugumo and Shimakaze. All three destroyers have maxed out upgrades/camo and they all use the same concealment upgrades. Result: Hayate maxed out at 4.8 km spotting range. Yugumo maxed out at 4.8 km spotting range. Shimakaze maxed out at 4.8 km spotting range. Test it yourself if you think I'm wrong.

Im playing the campaign as I always do but this ship does shout easy mode . Should be fun for the one playing it but for anyone else in the game it's probably gunna be a different story. Although I have heard it smacks shimas about and everyone has the chance to own it , so pros and cons.

Most will build this as a torpedo boat, as the player base can't seem to get past destroyers needing to be torp centric, and it'll just be mediocre in that role. So nothing to fear!

Best Tier 6 premium DD is prolly the Z35 Best Tier 7 tech DD is harder...Fletcher rated as most powerful. BUT lightening is very good, as is Akizuki, and Le Fantasque,

It's a very good torp boat its a like a shimikaze with a bit worse torps but has great guns which means that you can be a torp boat with great guns to defend your self

I'd say if you wanna play a torp boat just play Yugumo, personally. You can spec this for torps but yugumo will out perform it by a lot in this role

The stats aren't always accurate. I actually prefer having the Hayate as a stealthy torpedo boat with good guns and I'll tell you why. I have a stealth build for the Hayate, Yugumo and Shimakaze (Tanaka, inspiration Bey and Swirski). Shimakaze, Yugumo is advertised as having good concealment and the Hayate does not but for some reason the Hayate has equal concealment to both the Shimakaze and Yugumo maxing out at 4.8 km. So basically the Hayate has good guns, powerful torps and really good concealment (equal to the stealthy Shimakaze & Yugumo). Since I will out spot almost all destroyers (along with the help of Perceptive) I can instead run the torpedo reload booster making the Hayate (In my own opinion) the most deadly destroyer in tier 8/10.
