@@luc1d.G I wish I could say things are better and that we're stronger, but sometime last May, she sent me a long text after I confronted her on a lie that was important to me. She said that she needed time to herself so that she could grow, but that she would come back and maybe we could rekindle something. She didn't say how long she'd be gone. She ghosted me for three months without giving me a chance to say a word. That's something you're supposed to talk to your partner about. Those were an intensively agonizing three months because I wanted to know if it was her intention to not see anyone else throughout this time period. I basically had no closure. She messaged me a long apology after those three months, she mentioned the necklace I gave her for Christmas, and that she missed me. I learned from her that she tried to love someone else, but that it didn't feel the same, and that nobody could compare to me. This didn't settle with me because that meant she tried to replace me, something I voluntarily (on my own) promised her that I'd never do to her. After a very lengthy conversation, she basically had the tiniest sliver of hope for us to work out, but still wanted time to her self, and kept making contradictory statements on how she felt about us. I was getting the idea that she didn't care either way because of how nonchalant she was being about it. At some point, she misconstrued one of my messages and she wrote a hurtful message containing swear words, and what really stuck the most was "Get over the fact that I don't want you anymore." Despite me trying to clarify what I meant and keeping my cool, she wasn't having it. She talked to a friend of hers and finally realized that she was incredibly over the top and that she did misconstrue my words, and she apologized. I found it in my heart to forgive her, but I wouldn't forget that. You can't take words back, and those emotions are often times real. She could've been hiding that statement so that I wouldn't be hurt, but used it as a hurtful statement during that moment. One week later of not saying too much, I told her to delete my number, and she gave a nonchalant reply of "Alright." I learned that this was not someone I ever want to be with. She was perfect in my eyes from the beginning, and slowly, problems would develop and she and I could have productive discussions and work through them, we lasted a total of 12 months, but she's a highly selfish, narcissistic individual, despite her attempts to hide it. If you're wondering how I'm doing, it's been 7 months since the breakup and ghosting, but I'm just now doing better knowing that I deserved better and that this was a very harsh lesson to learn, but that I'm stronger at the end of the day. I tell myself "I shouldn't be with someone who doesn't love or respect me, so why would I ever want her when she only cares about herself at the end of the day?" It took a long time to get past it. The most difficult thing wasn't getting over her, it was the harsh betrayal, but I can sleep at night and know that I did everything I could for her, and that hopefully she learns from it as well. I honestly don't know how she can sleep at night. In the words of my friends, "she didn't see how special you are."
