Maybe the awkwardness is what made George Lucas choose Hayden. The character of Anakin is supposed to be troubled, a little on edge, nervous, angry etc. Now that I’m older, I look back at Hayden’s portrayal of Anakin and I appreciate him even more now.

George made Star Wars because it was his life, he created the galaxy we all love and it has become one of the biggest pop culture phenomenons of all time, so it’s understandable that Christensen feels this way, the Disney execs are all more focused on spectacle than story and it means that it’s COOL as fuck when we see Anakin/Vader make cameos (one of my favourites being the full display of his powers towards the end of Rogue One), but just because something is cool doesn’t mean it’s good for a story, and I think Lucas always put story first.

Including Vader in those stories was good for the story. The story would've suffered without him. Vader's castle was iconic. And the battle with the rebels to get the plans was sorely needed. We had never witnessed full power Vader. He choked out a few people and battled Luke twice, but that did not show us the brutality and what he was capable of. I think a better example is the random inclusion of C3P0 and R2D2. WTH? They've been randomly thrown in all over the place for fan service.

Hayden is the reason I enjoyed AOTC growing up, and his style of acting and his subtle expressions and execution of the polarities of Anakin aren’t in your face in an on the nose way. For example, his encounter with Ashoka in TWBW, his transition from AOTC General Skywalker to the mannerisms of Mustafar Vader, to transitioning into the intentional and channeled rage of Vader’s footsteps and pace, and sharp dialogue in the way he said “you lack conviction” was like seeing his entire fall, perfectly choreographed in a matter of 5-8 minutes. And during his scuffle with Ahsoka, his fighting style was less rambunctious, more controlled, and you can tell he used his experience of modifying a combat form as Vader, combined with a foresight that shows he hasn’t forgotten about his past, and there’s a weight in his character where you can hear it in the ways he looked back on his past without lamenting over the stagnating cycle of guilt, regret and shame. He’s all around a good actor (I liked him in Jumper also, Ngl)

Like bro some series have like 3 books and are deemed timeless masterpieces. The EU has dozens of bangers. It's weird, it's convoluted, its final arc suxks ass thanks to Troy Denning, but it's also ambitious, creative, it dared to go new places, all things Disney Star Wars has only been twice: with The Last Jedi, which failed respecting the original trilogy characters, and with Andor, which is hands down a masterpiece. The rest? Sure, some is great, Claudia Gray knows what she's doing and Mandalorian season 2 was great even though now this show is already showing deep deep cracks. Rebels is great with a lot of buts. If I were to do the same list for Disney it would like something like: Andor, Rogue One, Mandalorian S1-2, Inquisitor: Rise of the Red Blade, Jedi Fallen Order, Jedi Survivor, Catalyst, Dark Disciple, Thrawn Ascendancy trilogy, Kanan, Bloodline, Lost Stars, Darth Vader (2015), Doctor Aphra, Clone Wars season 7 doesn't even count because Disney cancelled a season that would have been much better than what we got what with Ventress' arc. Sure, duds everywhere. But Disney is playing safe. The EU did not, and you could just ignore the shit most of the time. Disney failed with the SEQUEL TRILOGY. Bruh. The EU did a LOT of things right for the entire lifetime of Luke Skywalker & Co. IDK why people are always crying about it, I feel like they might just be incapable of ignoring bad stories. And now, "officially non-canon" ones, but that just means "different timeline", not "less valid". Unless one is so basic not to be able to wrap the head around that, or kinda wanting to be with what's en vogue which is just boring. Disney's only pure win is Andor and it feels coincidentally closer to the EU than anything they've ever done.

Dave was in charge of Ahsoka and dropped the ball bad. He was partly in charge of mando S3, Book Of Boba Fett and was a consultant in Kenobi. So far the most important products in Disney Starwars and the biggest failures. By all accounts they have no idea they are even missing the mark on these products as they keep blaming fans for their shitty products. When are we going to stop giving Dave a free pass when he has been a wilful puppy (not a wolf) at the feet of the rest of Disney? Honestly, I'm at a point where I say get rid of him. Get rid of them all and sell Starwars to someone who cares.

Andor, in my opinion, is the way for Star Wars to move forward. Get season 2 done, and then get this type of in depth and interesting storytelling in a completely new era like the old republic with a Jedi vs Sith plot and I guarantee they would do well. Explore the idea that characters are conflicted and good and evil is not so black and white. In defending the galaxy from the Sith, the Jedi have to resort to violence to protect those who can't protect themselves. It would make the Jedi far more compelling. Hell, its what made ANAKIN so compelling in the first place.

I was already in my 20's when the prequels came out and i distinctly remember the hate that Christensen received for his portrayal and the memes that followed, although they weren't called memes back then. Sure, it wasn't as bad as the backlash against Ja Ja, but still... And i never understood why, i thought that when compared to the originals, they portrayed the characters and story really well. I think that it's only now the sequel trilogy has finished and revealed what actual terrible movies are that's it begun to sink in just how good the prequels were... I still quote lines from the prequels to this day and almost everyone, including younger teens still get the references.

They really should do a Vader series after Revenge of The Sith showcasing the after affects of the war/purge and Vader's crusade across the galaxy locating a destroying any remaining remnants of the jedi. They have to get Hayden back the role and give us more Star Wars/Vader but has got to be written well and leave the bs/politics out of it. Just tell a good story that makes sense and throw in some amazing Lightsaber duels and the show would amazing, period....

I for one would love a Vader show... Jedi hunting and other nefarious things. Or they could go make the Darth Bane trilogy, preferably adhering to the books as closely as is possible... damn good books after all. And/or they could go and do a project of the Darth Plagueis novel... yet again by adhering as closely as possible to the book... aside from the changes to the canon that were not there when that book as written. Getting something that is more villain focussed could be interesting. And these Sith Lords are not only iconic, they are very important to how the whole of the Star Wars narrative has been shaped.

I get that Luke felt responsible the collapse of his nephew and Jedi Order but running away and cutting himself off from the Force is something that George wouldn't had done. Like giving up on the Jedi and Ben. The way Luke tried to kill his nephew too, basically repeating the mistakes of the past Jedi Order. Luke could've left to rediscover the Jedi teachings and found a way to reconnect to his nephew but instead, curls himself up in a corner. I think the best way that Disney could “cash in” on Anakin AND benefit the fans would be to make Obi-Wan season 2 be an overarching series of conversations between Obi and Qui-Gon that are *heavily* based on flashbacks to the Clone Wars and the training of Anakin. You could essentially have a live action Clone Wars series as well as a grounded Kenobi character study with Qui Gon that delves into the mysticism of the Force. It would tick all the ”must watch” boxes as well as tell a good story with deep lore, all whilst treating the legacy characters correctly.

I really loved the books,, back in the 90's I wish they would of used more from them.. happy tim's books are making onto the big screen in some way, Just really liked the story of the prototype death star cannon and the sun cruiser. The hidden base Pellelon and Daila . So many good stories and ships like the Eclipse

On another note, if they ever do decide to reboot Star Wars and bring back those original characters. I would hope recasting would include Sabastian Stan, Ewan McGregor , Hayden Christensen and Keep it going. Darth Vader and Obi Won don't necessarily have to die. Then there's the era between ROTS and ANH. There's the Old Republic. Lot's of cool stuff.

He was very collaborative on Ahsoka! Hayden worked very well with Dave and Dave took a lot of Hayden’s direction to heart! Hayden even improvised some of the dialogue and fights. Hayden was very happy with the Ahsoka filmmaking process. He enjoyed his turn at Obi-wan Kenobi’s Vader but he prefers Anakin. It’s fun to play Vader for him but also very taxing physically. It’s very hard to be in the suit. There were lots of laughs on Ahsoka’s sets because also Hayden and Rosario have a very funny/pranky/jokey camaraderie. With Ewan, it’s different. It’s more of a big brother/little brother dynamic. He loves them both but the rapport is different.

Luke Skywalker is despised at KennedyFilms, and will not be factored in to any of Dave's work. Dave is a kindergarten level writer, and has bought in to the KennedyFilms mandate, and the Disney agenda. Star Wars id dead.

Think about the Mortis Arc up until now. How many years since The Father's death? 25 years maybe between that and assuming Anakin taking up the role in death. His role is crucial in preventing the imbalance of the Force, which could have catastrophic consequences for the wider galaxy. This was the first time in the galaxies history that there was no one with a powerful influence in that role. And remember, Darth Vader is not the consequence to the absence of someone in the role as The Father. Sith lords have come and gone, times of peace and dark times over thousands of years. Therefore we have not yet seen the consequences of this. I believe Dave will have this greater consequence being Abeloth, or The Mother. Which i think will become directly tied to the Nightsisters history. If the Daughter and the Son are the light and the dark embodied, the Father, balance, then Abeloth is the embodiment of the power the Nightsisters draw from. Abeloth could have been in play on this long term story arc during the end of the clone wars, and maybe Baylan is someone Abeloth reached, having enough power to influence him. To eventually reach Mortis….or Peridea and release her. This is why I think Anakins not back just for the spectacle of it. I think he's back for a big role in the coming story.

Im probably in the minority on this, but I vastly prefer George’s Anakin to any iteration since. I loved clone wars and watched it as it aired but even growing up I viewed “cartoon” Anakin as a different character from the one I saw in the movies. To this day I feel like Dave’s take on the chosen one is immensely different from George’s and I believe Lucas wanted this for the serialized show for obvious reasons of him being the protagonist and a mentor. But since then it’s almost like TCW version has retconned the original basis for the character that Hayden played. Even in Ashoka it’s almost like they asked him to do a mixed version of the two. Still enjoy it and Dave is the man but for me nothing beats the pure passion and tragedy that fuels the Star Wars, by George Lucas, Anakin.

George truly loved making starwars, even when people gave him shit for making the prequals what they are, he didn't care, he honestly doesn't care if people hate his films, he still made what he wanted to make, and it's why I love the prequals, especially Revenge of the sith, that film has alot more emotional weight because of the clonewars show. I love George Lucus because he most artists throw a hissy fit if they see criticism for their films or video games, but not George, he took criticism and he made what he wanted to make, evem when fans failed him, he stuck by his films.
