Been a Hayden fan since the late 90's when I saw him open for The Tragically Hip at Wetlands in New York City on the Hip's Phantom Power tour in 1998 I believe. I have bought every Hayden album (which are expensive and not available in US retailers) and looked forward to every new release. he is this generation's Neil Young to me. What a genius. So underrated. I just cannot fathom how overlooked he is. The man makes such incredible music that is always innovative, original, and artistically captivating. I have never heard a single song he has made that I didn't think was pure genius. He has maintained a level of artistic excellence that is unmatched in modern music. And hardly anyone knows he exists!

I like hearing this, fans from all over the world because I'm from Toronto and I'm shocked when people here don't know Hayden here. I just chock it up as he's a acquired taste and only true...how do I put this...simplest...true grunger's...true music/lyric fans will ever experience Hayden. I don't know how I have never seen him live his show's lately have been so sporadic with year's in between one popped up in T.O in 2018 but I didn't hear anything about it till I was searching for shows and found I was like 3 months late FML. One day I'm sure of it lol

i live in Buffalo, NY now. Hayden last toured down here in 2013. Unfortunately at the time I was doing a stint in prison.... long story. Anyway, waiting for him to do some tour dates south of the border again, but it seems like he is very reluctant to travel these days.. I am seriously thinking of taking a long road trip up into Ontario maybe this summer just to see him play and meet him again after 26 years. I have photos from that Wetlands show in 1998. I am sure he would get a huge kick out of seeing himself playing that show opening for the Hip back then. Would love to ask him a few questions about some of his music and get an autograph maybe.

The lines: “Then everything changed over the phone California to my home My hero's voice after the tone Yeah, my mind was blown”…. are a direct reference to his personal interactions with Neil Young.

It was cool he mentioned the Dinosaur Jr gig. I was at that gig and often talk about how strange it was. The most awkward silences between songs I’ve ever witnessed. Everyone was sitting down and it just didn’t make sense. We were used to pits and suddenly were at the theatre. Amazing gig but just strange.

gotta love this music his first album was pretty indie and raw but he grew as i grew in my tastes and he has a great number of songs in his list that are killer hits or atleast should be hits some are mellow and boring to the side of me that wants lots of changes but its great for background that way and the songs that stand out are like a fresh breeze on a hot day his music will indure because you dont love the song right away but you will give it a chance then ull for sure love it thats how good music works for some part of the artistic side of it instant nostalga lol
