I think I'm even going to go with this one on my shovelhead for noise purposes. Definitely on my 2010 Roadglide, to save the crank and trans. That stock tensioner is scary when it ratchets up to intolerable levels. Thanks

Thanks! Excellent series of videos; I've been wary of the M6 due to recent reviews of the BT07. I've had a Hayden in my 2000 FXD since new and no problems with it at all. Seems like they have improved the springs and shoe design on the BT07 so I expect to purchase the M6 for my '13 FLHTK now.

Thanks for good info, my 08 EGC is making noise and will try a M6 tensioner before changing the compensator.

Great videos... But why did you change to the Hayden? It appears to do the same job as the OEM one... keeping equal pressure on the chain? My 2016 makes an abnormally loud Clunk when putting into gear on a cold motor... I am leaning towards the tensioner being an issue.

Steve Eyles, I changed to the Hayden because I've read several posts on forums were the stock tensioner can ratchet up too tight and place too much tension on the inner primary bearing. The Hayden eliminates this problem. The loud clunk you're experiencing when shifting into first on a cold bike is normal. It's caused by hydrostatic forces between the clutch plates. In other words the cold fluid on the clutch plates fills the void between plates when the clutch lever is pulled. As you shift into first, this causes drag on the transmission side plates from the motor side plates and it pulls on the transmission until the slack is gone and the gears clunk to a stop. Don't worry about it, Harley's have been this way for years and it won't hurt a thing.

The Harley tensioner goes one way-tighter. I’ve got a Hayden and when hot it does have some initial chain slap-it’s the upgraded cam.

Can that shorter spring be purchased separately?

You’d have to contact Hayden Enterprises and ask them. www.haydensm6.com/contact.htm

How many miles did you have on the Hayden before you replaced it. How many miles does the Hayden last.

I didn’t have very many miles on mine before it was replaced. It was great on my stock 103 but when I built it up I did on occasion get some chain slap. I love my current set up. A Man-O-War compensator, Baker chain adjuster and a Barnett Scorpion clutch. That doesn’t really answer your question. My wife’s bike is a 2006 that’s bored to a 98” engine. It has an old style Hayden that has worked flawlessly for many miles. I love that bike and enjoy riding it once and awhile.

How long does the Hayden tensioner last. Did you feel less torque.

The one in my bike showed very little wear when it was taken out by a Harley dealer when I had compensator issues on the road. It had nothing to do with the Hayden, they suggested I go back to the stock tensioner and I said do what it takes to get me going. When I got home I installed a Baker manual tensioner and have ran that since. My wife’s 2006 has had a Hayden in it for several years and it’s still running strong. No I didn’t feel less torque with it. It has no effect on power output.

Are you still happy with Hayden?
@skydude426

Jan Johansson I think I would be if I still had it. It was removed and replaced by a dealership repairing my compensator when I was broke down on the road. I contemplated installing another Hayden since I never had a problem with it but I decided to try another brand and see how that works. I installed a Baker Attitude Adjuster. I made a new video explaining all this titled Hayden to Baker Primary Chain Adjuster.

Johnny Clark I've been running it trouble free since installation. This winter I did a 107" big bore and everything looked good with the chain tensioner. It still performs well with the increase in torque and horse power.

skydude426 I was deciding on which to get and you have sold me.. Did you buy direct? Or from Amazon?
@skydude426

Johnny Clark it's been awhile now and I don't remember where I bought it. I buy a lot of bike parts from Dennis Kirk and eBay sellers, but I think I bought this manufacturer direct in case I had issues. At the time they had recently changed springs because the older ones were too strong and causing failures. So far so good in my bike.
