This Op.50 no.1 is, for me, the perfect starting point to start listening to Haydn's quartets, with the form fully developed in comparison to the previous works. Very good piece! 👏 🎶

Комплименты, ребятя. С таким чувством играет, сам великий Гайдн бы гордился Вами.

Delightful playing - accurate, full of humour, polished but vigorous and playful. Wonderful quartet

A wonderful interpretation of this quartet. A creative use of pauses, tension and humour. Such a splendid exhibition of technical skill and accuracy. We can never know how Haydn would have performed this quartet but we can be sure that he would thoroughly have approved of this masterful rendering. Well done indeed!

A lively performance of Haydn's own "Dissonance" quartet from the Marmens, a young British quartet. I especially loved the fastish tempo of the finale. Pity they couldn't make it to Tokyo in June 2020 owing to covid-19, when they were due to play the work. But this video amply makes up for the disappointment!

Sadly, this leader follows the modern trend of playing the outer movements too fast. The rapid passages sound scrambled with occasional unpleasant and unwanted glissandi caused when shifting. Haydn would definitely disapprove!
