Here's an aerial view of us planting coastal bermuda spriggs. This field was about 90 acres. Planting with a John Deere 6430 & Bermuda King 6 Row Planter.

How important is soil moisture content when doing this? And how many bails will that field produce? How long before it can be bailed?

I think "North Texas Hay" did the same kind of thing and I guess I really don't understand it. It looks like your planting hay to grow grass???? would you mind doing an in depth video on the subject to help a city slicker like me understand ? Thanks :)

The sprigs are picked up out of an existing field almost like a turf machine but does not take much soil. Bermuda has nodes and roots. the sprigging's are then fed into the plant which sort of pokes them into the ground, and each node will sprout and root quickly filling in and spreads as it grows to form a solid Mat and then it will grow up, making hay. We have fed dry hay which managed to spread around our hay feeders over winter, but you want to keep the sprigs moist until planted. Many hybrid varieties have to be sprigged as the seeds are sterile.
