Hayes and Cary Ann could sing the Old Testament to me, and I'd listen for hours. This right here is how you take your music seriously without taking yourself too seriously.

You know, I was thinking of James Carville and Mary Matalin, especially the elevator scene. What and effing great story, video and song! Well done, sir. And a tip of the hat to Cary Ann Hearst. And I thought John Prine and Iris Dement hit that twang like right out of the trailer park with In Spite of Ourselves, but you two turned it up to eleven! Very well done!

I discovered Hayes Carll, and this song, thanks to the 'Outlaw Channell' on Sirius XM Radio... They also have the Willie Nelson Channel, Prime Country, and a Bluegrass channel.There are no commercials, which really add to the listening enjoyment.. Don Was, Steve Earle, Cowboy Jack Clements, and Roger Alan Wade, with his cousin Johnny Knoxville,...have all been havin' regular weekly shows they host, with music they are into..For the cost of about three packs of cigarettes a month, its worth it

Logan Kobza+ I was not referring to the actual recording techniques, ie. mic types or preamps used, I was commenting on his voice and singing style. THAT is my opinion. I came here to listen to the song with an open mind and possibly find a new musician I would like to listen to but I don't like his vocal style, delivery or his voice. It seems like he's going for this down home, laid back, country style and he just does not pull it off to my liking. There is no incorrect or correct when it comes to art or music and the beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Im a very open minded person when it comes to music, I have over 40,000 songs on my itunes, everything from Slipknot, Nas, Johnny Cash, Jewel, Matchbox 20, Dolly Parton, Hendrix, Alice in Chains, Muddy Waters, Carrie Underwood, Howling Wolf, Guns n Roses, Social Distortion, Eminem and everyone in between. I'm a musician and I definitely try to be honest and not judge any musicians by anything but their songs.
@Androidaholic8 жыл бұрын
I suggest you go listen to some other songs from Hayes that are not of the parody type. He is actually one of the most soulful singers around today if you listen to some of his other songs I think you will see what I am talking about.

@realmusicnj7 жыл бұрын
Again, after eight years of the Obama administration if you consider this group of mostly successful, accomplished individuals who comprise the cabinet a "sitcom" it is you who may have perception issues. But it probably explains things like Will Ferrell and most of the shows that are on the ABC Network these days. Different strokes...
