It's gut wrenching feeling like we are letting him down somehow but I think he of all people understands what it takes to do the job. I feel fortunate he respects how we feel. I don't know about my brother but I know 10+ years ago when I started here he flat out asked me "What's your plan here? Do I need to start grooming you to run this place or what?" I knew then and still know now that's NOT who and what I am/want to be. I don't want to let my dad down, but man what a disservice to give him that idea only to flip the script later on

The whole reason my dad left his job and risked everything to make his own business was so that he and we would have the freedom to do what we wanted. And when I didn't want the business because I knew I'd suck at it, he said "it was about the freedom, not the building." I loved my career in the army and I love my current job with the government. And I love my dad for letting me be me. So I get where you're coming from.

As a viewer from Ontario who has never done business with Haylett RV, but still watches every video you put out, I am glad you will still be around doing what you do. When the time came for my wife and I to upgrade our old trailer, it was your information that steered me to getting a Jayco. I new what to look for and expect in our purchase and was probably more informed about the little things in the trailer than the sales person was. That my friend is because of you. Thankyou. Keep up the excellent work and I truly hope to see your videos for many more years to come. Reg Tuttle, Ontario Canada

I totally get what you're saying, Reg! I don't own an RV nor do I have any plans to buy one. What I do own is a horse trailer with Living Quarters. And that's how I found Haylett RV 6 years ago. Information that Josh put out applied to my trailer in many cases. And then I got hooked. I've followed his channel since then and will continue to do so. And if I ever do buy an RV, it'll be from Haylett! But for now, as long as I can swing a leg over, I'll be sticking with my horse!

Josh, I’ve watched for three years, and my wife and I came to Haylett RV this past June where I had the chance to meet and talk with you!. You have always been upfront and honest, and talking with the Haylett staff I got that same impression. I understand you and your brother not wanting to take over, I compare it to farmers who’s kids grow up and don’t want to take over the family farm, we are all wired to do what we’re passionate about. I can only speak for myself when I say my only concern is the operation getting so big and turning into something like, (I can’t believe I’m going to say this), Camping World, barf 🤢🤢🤮, where sales mean more than employees and being honest with customers. I truly wish you and everyone at Haylett the best, and I will continue to watch to see you succeed! 👍

The larger any group gets the harder it is to manage. I've seen that just here at our one small store. We're much larger than we used to be and it's gotten hard to properly oversee some things. I'll never claim it'll be "perfect," but I think the values of the organization are present right from the top and not just there for face value. In the marketing meetings I attended we brainstormed various ideas. Among them were payment options. One of the first questions asked was "sure we COULD do that.. but is that the BISH way of doing this? is it good for the customer?" I was *sooooo* happy to hear it.

The other Bish demo channel is fine, it does the job of providing a library of videos for various RVs. It isn't something anyone would want to subscribe to as there isn't any continuity to the videos. It is like walking into onto a RV lot and finding out that every RV has a different salesperson of various levels of swarmy slickness who is absolutely convinced that their assigned RV is the absolute best option. The videos on this channel are like a single, ongoing conversation about all of the models that are out there. It makes it so much easier to compare and contrast all of the options with all of the options being shown in a similar manner by the same person who shows no signs of swarm. Keep it up Josh, when you have found what you are supposed to be doing, why would you give it up to just be another boss?

Josh, I totally agree that what your family is doing is best and makes sense for your family. About 20 years ago I assisted in a buy out of a small firm technically aligned with the firm I was in - they actual approached us wanting to be able to expand their footprint nationally. One thing that really impressed me was that one of their principals came right out and said at one meeting "that in no way was this merger / buy out to be a raiding party - we were to take all or none of the employees unless any did not want to 'move over' to the new owners". Bish has done the same with Haylett so good on them and good for you. As for yourself - keep doing exactly what you are doing and how you are doing it. We watch you because of what you tell us about RVs as much as how you tell us. Like others posting here, I'm looking forward to your expanded 'equipment catalogue' to comment on. Good job.

Hey Josh! With this video, I believe you just placed the cornerstone for how your family's business is going to be moving forward for its existence.....candidly, you did not have to do an "explanation" video as to why your family went this direction in its business; yet, you think enough of the customers, viewers, and the industry itself to provide what and why took place. I've always felt a deep level of respect for you and your business, as it runs parallel with the industry I choose to spend most of my life working in, that being the Marine and Boating venue. As I have said, I have seen both highs and lows on being both a large fish, and then being a small fish in the business acquisition equation.....it can truly have positive, far reaching benefits for the employees on the changes! I think you said best in saying, "Give it a fair chance". I totally agree! I get the (using corporate terms here....queue the attorney Ahem!) "synergy" and "buying power", "finance leveraging power," etc., that will be of more benefit to the consumer in the long run.....I think, and hope that what all of the loyal followers want for your company, is to be able to keep using the secret recipe of success that makes Haylett a true game player in the RV purchasing and service destination for years to come.....anyway, that is my hope for you, your family, and all employed there today, and the future! All the Best! And, Thank You for making this video! ~Lou

My goal is to continue the open discussions on this or other topics as they creep up We most definitely have a bit of an awkward phase ahead of us as we transition from a haylett store to a bish store. After a month or two I think we'll be in pretty solid shape

One year ago I traveled to Junction City, Oregon to test drive the three main platforms being used to make Class B rigs. I was sold in the Ford Transit platform and that helped me focus on a particular goal. Now my plans hit a big legal quagmire and I am still in limbo awaiting the opportunity to acquire my dream RV. Since my visit in December 2020 Guaranty RV, where I visited , has become a Bish RV Center. At first I was a bit bothered by the change but I did my own research and listened carefully to Uncle Josh’s comments and guess what? I am more than willing to give the change a chance. When I do buy, though I live in California at this time, a buying trip to Coldwater, Michigan will most likely happen. One big thing that has come from following Uncle Josh. I may just decide that a travel trailer or more likely a small fifth wheel will be what I eventually purchase. In no way am I giving up Josh Winters videos. Hope to see you in person some time next year.

You’re right: it IS scary and it IS hard but it can be great at the same time. I’m looking forward to seeing new makes and models and possibly having them closer than Idaho! Keep doing what you’re doing. I’ve learned a lot from your videos except for one thing - which make and model do I buy?!?!🤪. Good luck and congratulations to you and your family.

Josh - First, you did not owe me or anyone else a detail explanation, but you have been transparent with everything you do, so this was no surprise. You have been an invaluable source of information and I really appreciate what you do. We started on this camping voyage 6 years ago, your videos were a tremendous help in our search for that perfect RV. As we moved from 5th wheel to Class A, you continued to be that source of info that we really appreciated. I see no reason to stop the ride with you. Trust your judgement and wish you and your family nothing but success. Change can be scary, but it also can lead to great things my friend.

So excited for you and all the Haylett family and employees, as well as their families. We have a Bish RV in our neck of the woods (northwest Montana). A feature of a larger RV corporation in multiple states is a shared database. The locations of multiple Bish RV dealerships is a comfort for those of us who travel and vacation on the road. We can look up where the closest Bish is, especially if in the Pacific Northwest or California, and get in to a service center. Now having another Bish in the Midwest, especially due to the volume of UP (Upper Peninsula) vacationers is really a comfort! My hope is Bish's will do a joint roll-out with you as a great way to introduce each location and possibly feature a unique of each location, coupled with a meet and greet. Just as the gentleman who met up with you in Meridian, other PNW fans would love a chance to say thank you to you and your family (Dad especially) for all the coverage of the RV industry over the years. Blessings to all of you, including employees!!!

Thank you very much Josh and God bless - I’ve been a subscriber for sometime. I work for Bish’s and had the opportunity to meet your wonderful parents - I wish them a very blessed, healthy and enjoyable retirement as they richly deserve it. Welcome to the team - I’m looking forward to meet you in person as well. It’s well known amongst some at Bish’s that you are a very talented KZbinr and I personally think they are looking forward to you joining the team and taking the company to greater heights - as I have not met anyone with your You Tubing talent at Bish’s. I enjoy working for Bish’s as they make you feel and treat you like a family member - so I am very confident you will fit in and enjoy what you have been doing very successful up until now.

We won’t be buying an RV for a few months and I sure would like you to help us pick the right one, but I know that may not be possible. You have us spoiled with your humor and honestly. I’m excited for this change. I live in Idaho (Idaho Falls) and have dealt with Bishs RV as have many of my neighbors with nothing but good things to say about them. That said I have also really appreciated your videos almost to the extent that I would be willing to drive to Michigan for my next rv. I anticipate buying here in the next few years and I have saved several of your videos for models I’ll be looking for. Keep up the great content, it definitely helps me narrow down what I want. I’ll be looking at Bish’s for my next RV and now I’ll feel even better about doing it.

Josh, I’ve been advising family businesses for over 30 years. A succession plan can be a traumatic process for a family. It sounds like your father, yourself, your brother and other family members approached the process in a thoughtful way. I’ve recently discovered your channel while beginning my own RV due diligence in anticipation of my retirement in a few years. Your videos are entertaining and informative. Best of luck with the transition to the Bish group. Hopefully we can meet and do business in the future when I’m ready to buy. Kevin, Pittsburgh, PA

We've been touching on the topic internally as a family for well over a decade. It's just such a many-layered onion. Josh, I’m excited for you and your company, I’m also excited for me. I see you will be selling Heartland RV’s, I own a 2019 Bighorn, and I’m excited to be able to possibly do business with your company. I also like Grand Design. I’m on my second Heartland, the first being a Big Country, and I like the product. So it will be nice to see y’all playing the game in my stadium. I feel that you and your company treat customers right. The problems I’ve seen as an RV owner is, after you sign the papers and drive off the lot, your on your own. If I’ve needed repairs, I have gone back to the factory for service, because the dealer screwed things up. Customer Service is HUGE to an RV owner, you have to be able to trust and believe your dealer, not always the case for me, with some dealers. Always keep this thought in mind, if not for us, you would not be in business. I’m happy for you in your new world order. Keep up the great work my friend, hope some day to meet y’all. Gary

TY Joshua. That Texas team is FRESH in their change from Hayes RV to a Bish's RV location. I can speak from experience having recently gone thru the same thing that it takes time to get everything "fully tuned." Business is business and families decide what's best for them. Nothing anyone can do or should have a say in it.
