When I was around 12 our family was going through trauma which lasted for a few years. It ended up with my dad leaving. I discovered Pollyanna and then The Parent Trap. Those two movies "saved" me during those years. I latched on to Hayley Mills in those two movies. At some point I started collecting movie magazines (25 cents at that time!) and kept up with her for years...way into my adulthood. I am 74 years old now, still have a heart for her and smile when I think back to those times instead of dwelling on the bad stuff. I have kept all my scrap books and movies magazines after all these years. I still get them out every few years and enjoy looking at all I collected. I still enjoy finding something she is in now. Glad you put this out...she really has had a good life. We all have poop hit the fan sometimes. I loved "The Truth About Spring" when I was a teenager. She was cocky and pretty!

Haley Mills was my FAVORITE teenage film star when I was around 12 years old. I had ALL the pictures that were carefully torn from teen magazines. My bedroom wall was all of her! She was a young girl like myself whom I could relate too. Hayley Mills was definitely one of the favorites of my childhood. This was very nice, but later she gave wonderful performances in two films that made her even more memorable: The slightly older girl in "Tiger Bay" with her father Sir John Mills and Horst Buchholz; and years later in a serialized TV program called "The Flame Trees of Theka," where she played the mother of a young girl in early 20th century Africa (we saw it here on PBS). I can't exactly remember when this was, but she was Anna in "The King and I" in either NY or London, and received great acclaim. I was elated to see her in both. When I was a pre-teen I had a sort of “girl crush” on Hayley Mills. I first saw her in a black and white movie called Tiger Bay, in which her father, successful British actor John Mills, starred. I was captivated by her performance and loved her accent! I said if I ever had a girl child, which I never did, that I would have named her Hayley. I was unaware of her breast cancer. I, too, am a breast cancer survivor; but, she and I have an even more coincidental connection in that we both had breast cancer in both breasts at the same time. My doctors told me it is quite rare, that only 3-4% patients diagnosed with breast cancer get it in both breasts at the same time. I am glad to hear she found her own way to heal. @@DTD110865 It was cute in those days and tried to straddle very young (children) fans as well as those of us who were just becoming young teens. Maybe had some awkward moments but Hayley did save the day! 😀Her mother seemed to hate most of the Disney/Hollywood doings she was a part of, so that doesn’t surprise me. I think her mother could have more enjoyed her great success with Disney; it wasn’t supposed to be Shakespeare! 😅 (I also still don’t agree with her “parents” decision to not let her attend the academy awards the year she won. What a special moment and she wasn’t even told about it at the time; let alone allowed to pick up her special award for herself.)😔 I hope - since then - Hayley’s realized these movies were just what we all wanted as young ones in those days.. light and fun and relatable. She brought it all to life with her personality! She was a very unique Disney star (when Disney was a studio with standards) and I’m glad she speaks so highly of those days for herself now. There will never be another Hayley Mills (nor Disney as in those days.) I was born in the 80’s and my first exposure to Hayley was with her show “Good Morning, Ms. Bliss.” At nine years old I was absolutely smitten and forevermore, my girlfriends and, eventually, my wife, had to be blonde 😁 I was crushed when she was replaced with Denis Haskins, regardless of how much I enjoyed his buffoonery as principal of Bayshore High.

I also grew up watching all of Haley Mills’ movies, I loved all of them and still do, even at 70 years old. I'm not sure which was my favourite, but one worth a mention is "In Search of the Castaways" (1962)

Hayley has been our hero since we were about 13! That is, my identical twin sister and me. One of the first movies we ever saw was The Parent Trap and loved it. (Those days we didn't get to watch a lot of movies). I have the DVD now and I now realise that the movie spoilt us for future movies because it was sooooo good and not an ounce of boredom! I read her memoir last year and was shocked by the money grabbing British government tax system! The tax she had to pay was 'highway' robbery!

Hayley Mills did do dramatic roles before Parent Trap. You didn’t mention that her father was Sir John Mills, a doyen of the British cinema and winner of an Academy award.

I love Hayley. My favorite movies of hers are The Parent Trap, Pollyanna, and The Trouble with Angels. I was also a big fan of Kula Shaker back in the 90's and I was pleasantly surprised to see them in your video. I didn't know they have a new album, so thanks for that!

I loved the original Parent Trap! I made kids watch it in Summer Camp last summer and they loved it! She was great in it! I’m 46 but I watched raised by nuns so we would watch older movies all the time.

One of my all time favorites of Hayley Mills is The Trouble With Angels (1966). I didn't know she had an autobiography. I can't wait to read it. 😃

I liked Haley Mills as I grew up along with her via her movies but her hair in The Parent Trap drove me nuts as did her nose-hers was wide and blunt, mine was long and blunt. But got to give her credit for not having plastic surgery.Alas, I couldnt stand mine so....Good for her for using natural remedies after chemo and glad to hear she is still acting.

I love Hayley! My grandmother knew her when Hayley was teenager on the Disney lot, and they remained friends. I got to meet her when I myself was a teenager. I was 14, and we had the best time together! She is so sweet, and funny! 🤣 Hayley had it rough, but she is a positive, ray of light! Very kind heart, and really gives you her attention. Also, I loved Good Morning Miss Bliss! I know it got canceled, but I loved it.

What an amazing woman. I knew about her marriage to an older man, but little else. It's good to see she's doing well and looking great.
