Lovely song, voice, and singer. I notice that a really great singer doesn't need to dance around or show a lot of skin...her music is enough. Amazing!

wow! Also first time in a while I've seen videos where people don't argue opinions I guess that's because she's so powerful that it'd take an incredibly cold heart not to appreciate her, and we can all agree that it unites us in a strange feeling that nobody can use words for. This music certainly speaks to me this way

I hope you make it one day. Many kiwis including Hayley have irish ancestry. My forebears came from Galway, Cork and Sligo. You will also find a lot of Irish pubs.

ok to the guy who said she's a "Blight on New Zeland", fuck off, you obviously wouldnt know a good singer if they slapped you with sheet music. Hayley Westenra HAS to be one of the best , if not, THE best singer out there. I've never heard a more angelic voice, and she's the perfect role model; she's gorgeous, can sing and perfectly hit any note, and has her own lone of albums. She's an angel, not a blight. :) I love you Haley!! :D

For real! She started singing in The Mall for money for her and her friends to eat lunch. And eventually her Mom helped her record a demo that they sent to record companies. She was what 11,12? She has worked her but off for what she has now.

Altiora should allow Hayley's comforting voice to heal him/her of his/her bitterness (sadness plus anger). Perhaps Hayley's angelic voice stikes Altiora with sadness that he/she must immediately overtake with anger so as not to feel the pain. For instance, did Altiora's late mother's voice somewhat resemble Hayley's?

That's fine. I misunderstood you. I just tend to bridle at the word "best", that might imply some objective method of comparison. I like Irish and Welsh too, and some US accents have a certain charm, to my ear.

After listening to this by her, and by Orlagh Fallon (Both of them were once part of Celtic Woman) I prefer Orlagh's version, not to say Hayley is not a good singer, but Orlagh's version is very haunting, where as Hayley's is a bit to upbeat for the true meaning of the song.
@Sqid10115 жыл бұрын
English is the native language of most New Zealanders. But I don't see what that has got to do with the discussion. I hope we are past the stage where we believe that "good" English is the way the Queen speaks it. The difference between some New Zealand accents and those from the south of England is not that great, but that doesn't make it better English, than what our American, say, friends may speak.
@Sqid10116 жыл бұрын
I think he's saying that it's just a matter of taste, and talk of "better" etc, makes little sense. He quite obviously did not indicate a problem with Sissel. I have no problem with Sissel, who is a favourite of mine, but to say she is in a "an entirely different league" is stupid. They are pretty much the same league, although you could argue that Westenra's voice is more unusual, that it is more powerful, that she is more versatile, and much more popular, if you wanted to.
@Sqid10116 жыл бұрын
You called me an idiot and I responded in kind. I agree it is a difference of opinion or taste who one prefers. There is no such thing as a master of taste, there are different tastes. I have professional musician freinds and I notice they never talk about one singer being "better" than another, just which they prefer. One I know prefers Yulia Townsend to Hayley. Fine, but to say that either is better than the other is pretty much meaningless because music appeals to the emotions.
@Sqid10116 жыл бұрын
PennymusicMAma, It's not a matter of the last word. It's as though you just haven't read or understood a word either myself or bkalei have said. Bkalei didn't criticise Sissel or shame you for liking her. Unless you can grasp that our complaint would apply equally to anyone who said that Hayley was "better" than Sissel, you just don't understand what we are saying. Can you understand what I've just said? And don't call me a troublemaker, it's comparisons that cause trouble.
@Sqid10115 жыл бұрын
"lip sync" Why? Is there another version that sounds identical to this?
@mbarr62715 жыл бұрын
she has a reason to brag about her voice
@Sqid10116 жыл бұрын
PennymusicMAma, I know you have said nice things about Hayley and that you never said you disliked her. We never said or assumed you did. You seem to be jumping to conclusions or you have a real comprehension problem. I repeat that we would have taken just as much exception to your saying Hayley was better than Sissel (expecially if you had turned up and done it on a Sissel thread). You misunderstood what Bkalie said and you haven't understood a word I've said.
@Haplo090715 жыл бұрын
that's because she's 15...not very famouw. She only has one album or so ;) Maybe in future years she will become more famous..like charlotte church..

Altiora101 what is your problem? If you don't like Hayley then ok fine then why do you keep coming here? Are you so immature that you have to pick on everyone who does like music you don't? There was people like that when I was in middle school too.....how old are you again?
