Dead Horse (Lyrics)
Every morning I wake up
from a dream of you holding me
under water
(was that a dream or a memory?)
Held my breath for a decade
dyed my hair blue
to match my lips
cool of me to try
(pretty cool I’m still alive)
I beat it like a dead horse
I beat it like a drum
Oh I stayed with you too long
Skipping like a record
I sang along
To a silly little song
I said I beat it like a dead horse
I beat it like a drum
Oh I stayed with you too long
Skipping like a record
And I sang along
A shitty never ending song
Sometimes it’s good to be
the bigger person
But I’m so small I can’t compare
and after all, it’s only fair
yeah
I got what I deserved -
I was the other woman first
Other others on the line
But I kept trying to make it work
I beat it like a dead horse
I beat it like a drum
Oh I stayed with you too long
Skipping like a record
I sang along
To a silly little song
I said I beat it like a dead horse
I beat it like a drum
Oh I stayed with you too long
Skipping like a record
And I sang along
A shitty never ending song
YAYAYAYA
When I said goodbye I hope you cried
When I said goodbye I hope you cried
When I said goodbye I hope you cried
When I said goodbye I hope you cried
I beat it like a dead horse
I beat it like a drum
Oh I stayed with you too long
Skipping like a record
I sang along
To a silly little song
I said I beat it like a dead horse
I beat it like a drum
Oh I stayed with you too long
Skipping like a record
And I sang along
A shitty never ending song
YAYAYAYA
Now you get another song
Now you get another song

''Sorry I was in a depression'' No need to apologize Hayley, you stayed strong and you can't decide whether you have depression or not. It's out of your control, you don't have to apologize to your fanbase, we are here one for another. The important thing is that you did what you thought was the right thing to do, you took some time for yourself. We understand you. You did it so you could feel better. I hope you're happier now!

The dark room with blocks, depression and being on stage, 3 blocks covering her tattoo . Her being held too long in an uncomfortable position, her marriage . Shifting thought, personality, hair, changing yourself . Mirror, self reflection in a brighter room . Being in complete light, shadows made by her own rage, taking control, hats like soldiers . 👏👏👏👏👏 👏👏👏 An amazing song and video to celebrate the enlightenment!

I actually don’t see it this way at all. He’s not worth all that. This isn’t enlightenment, it’s growth. The blocks are the past. She needed the past to be where she is today, and now she’s learning to live and grow with the past. Being held in an uncomfortable position of always trying to be good enough for him, the media, and everyone else surrounding the warped tour era Paramore became famous from. The mirror is a huge play on pre-wedding jitters, regret, and pointing the finger at herself “next time you point a finger, I’ll point you to the mirror.” The hair is a note to the past hair colors she’s had, and how they’ve represented her life. She’s big on her hair color, and why. The light and play with shadows and being a rag doll connects me back to the Hard Times imagery. Also feeling out of control. To name a FEW.... there is so much to pick apart here. (Boots, The Equestrian Outfit, the dress, etc...)

How do you gather the strength to get out of a depression, especially if you don't know who you are anymore?
@hayleywilliams
@hayleywilliams 4 жыл бұрын
that's a good good question. depression is not a feeling, it is a very real condition. understanding that first helped me realize that I really did need help to find myself again. i don't think we are all that capable of ridding ourselves of it on our own.
@distantsolarsystems
@distantsolarsystems 4 жыл бұрын
Hayley Williams I completely agree. When I was depressed so many people told me, “hey, just think positive.” “Exercise will make you feel better.” Things like that can only get you so far. There’s a reason people go to school to learn how to treat mental illness. Therapy is what got me out.

Seek help, I know it's easier said than done. It took me a long long time to admit that there are things I cannot battle on my own and admitting that to myself felt like a defeat but once I changed my perspective, I realized the only way out is with professional assistance.
@BlackFox15
@BlackFox15 4 жыл бұрын
I battled with that for a long time. I self medicated and refused help. I thought getting help meant I as a person, my own self wasn't good enough. That I was wrong and needed help to be right for society... it took a lot for me to get out of my own way and see that it is a disorder, a chemical imbalance. Once I started my 2 year journey of healing I learned getting the chemical imbalance straightened out via CBT, EMDR, group therapy, and eventually the choice to take an SSRI what was left was ME. You are not your disorder and what is underneath is absolutely worth digging for. Good luck.

This song is the undoing of “still into you”. When she met Chad he was married to Sherri Bemis. I think what she’s saying is she felt blamed for being the other woman, and when Chad did to her what he had done to his ex-wife she couldn’t bring herself to terminate it because she felt like she deserved it, she kept trying to make it work, because if it didn’t work it would mean that their relationship was the same as his failed marriage, maybe she kept trying to fix him.
