Hey everyone :) Are these words really German and have you used them in every day life? Sometimes I feel like Mike is tricking me 😂I am hoping that my phone is fixed this week so I can upload my racial identity video BUT for now we can enjoy a little humor during this crazy time in the world ❤️Thank you so much for watching you guys!!!

yeah, those were not easy. I am German. I heard all of these, but I had to look up the meaning for some. The worst part was that Mike doesn't know where the "Gaumen" is.
@DoktorIcksTV4 жыл бұрын
Yes, the words are all German. At least we use them here in the north (Hanover) in our everyday language or we can at least derive them and they don't sound weird. However, in my opinion the meaning for "gediegen" is a synonym for a luxurious ambience or object. A Rolls Royce is a gediegenes Auto. Another word for "gediegen" is "mondän". Edit: Ganz vergessen, in meiner Gegend gibt es auch den Ausruf "Das ist ja gediegen!" im Sinne von "Das ist ja unerhört/eine Frechheit!"
@twinmama424 жыл бұрын
Ratzefummel is kind of Jugendsprache - but a real old one at that. We used it all the time when I was at school (and I'm 55 now). We also used the elongated version "Ratzefummeliergummi".

@@DoktorIcksTV Well "mondän" is way more extrovert in meaning than "gediegen"..unpretentious things can be "gediegen" but they are never ever "mondän" In other words "gediegen" refers to the actual high class quality of the making or used material while "mondän" refers to how it looks like = "classy" = "mondän"

@michaelgrabner89774 жыл бұрын
I had a laugh...especially when you ask regarding to schnabulieren "When you talk to much" Mike: "No, that´s you" by the way "gediegen" means "ordentlich"(decent), "von guter Qualität" (made in very good Quality) originally used for valuable gems or noble metal = "gediegener Edelstein/gediegenes Gold/Silber" BUT more often used as Synonym for things which are very decent with a flavour of posh and fancy like for instance "fancy room furnishing" is "gediegen" or "a fancy car" or "fancy clothing" or what ever fancy and posh OR for "being really funny with substance" = "gediegener Scherz/Humor"..Mike said "chill enviroment" Well just when the level of "chill" is really DECENT/of very good quality then "Yes" ..I as Viennese would call such a "chill enviroment" = "geschmeidig" instead of "gediegen" by the way which means literally "sleek/smooth" but that has also a little bit of fancyness/top quality in meaning as well ..the noun "Geschmeide" means "Juwelry" schnabulieren is "kosten/probieren" BUT just tiny pieces from a various number of options = "little bit from here and a little bit from there and a bit from over there as well" Anhängsel used for a person means he/she is following you everywhere which is also a little bit annoying Gaumen = palatal...a "Schmaus" is a delicious meal..."Gaumenschmaus" is an outstanding delicious meal (so to say where you have a taste explosion "in the area of the palatal" = "in your mouth" ) And the little ball-thing you mentioned which makes you gag is called "Zäpfchen" but it is just the shortform of "Gaumenzäpfchen" Nice to hear from you both I already started to miss you

He said: "Its easy: The last wagon of a train." Well, appears to be a "false friend". And if you would like to label yourself as "Gaumenschmaus" I would recommend "Augenweide" instead. "Gaumenschmaus" implys a sensation for mouth or tongue. So since one would not expect cannibalism, it might be understood lewdly like "Taste me, eat me." - or ist this my dirty mind?

I‘m not sure if I ever heard the word gediegen before. It‘s definitely not used in daily vocabulary. But maybe it depends on the region.
