With the reveal of Turbo Granny trying to help the spirits of the young women and girls who were attacked, you can interpret that Turbo Granny showing up episode 1 to save Momo was not at all a coincidence. She was there to protect Momo from the aliens assaulting her.

TG saw Momo as just a random girl being assaulted but then she saw her using psychic powers so she attacked her realising that she can exorcise her

It's up to interpretation; and we see how the Yokai are very fickle mentally later too - save in their hatred My take is that TG went because she really hates men like it, less for saving Momo Further that it was likely an amalgamation of Okarun and Turbo Granny, and that could sway things. The power used is also not one Okarun can not use in season one (travelling through phones) So granny has to help out

And when Momo pushes Turbo Granny out of Ockarun, she goes “who are you?”. Let’s remember that Granny is petty, vindictive, and mean. So even when she went to help Momo, just one act of disrespect is enough for her to try to kill her afterward

14:36 yups, Dandadan story are structured like that. A saga which has a few arc stories, this is introductory arc of introductory saga, TurboGranny Arc. There are at least two fun fact related. First, that before it aired in episodic manner, there limited screen for 4 early episode in cinema as one movie. Second, the way the story are structured are related to one of the meaning of Dandadan, you see “Danda” could be translated as sacred chant while suffix “-dan” has meaning “story about …(something)” and chants usually have verses, so yeah this is the first verse.

turbo granny is an urban legend, also known as "100 kilo granny". the lore says- if you cannot win a race against turbo-granny, you will be cursed! on the other hand, the location-bound-spirit resides in the tunnel where all the girls were murdered or tortured. - i am not a Japanese so i am not sure, but i think it is somewhat related to delinquent, biker-gang, racing culture ... etc. usually, abandoned tunnels or these kind of places are considered as common spots of delinquents' hangouts, illegal stuffs. so if you ever need to go into such places, you need to run so fast that a "100-kilo-granny" (a biker-gang perhaps) will not be able to catch you.

This anime comes off as quirky and as a comedy, but man does it hit you hard with the history of the ghosts and characters. I was not expecting or ready for it, and it only hits harder as the episodes continue. I was... crying so hard because of this first season.

The first season has some amazing episodes, but I believe this one is the best one, even better that the 7th (but by a very small margin) Honestly it feels cinematic as the story progresses. The choices for camera positioning and framing. The color palette and how it is used as a plot device (this episode being one of the great examples of it). The endless cinematic references (like Shin Godzilla in Ep 8). Even the dialogue, outside of the chaotic moments, its profound and on point.

Maybe it's just me, but this episode reminds me of serial killer Tsutomu Miyazaki, also known as the Otaku Killer or Little Girl Killer, and the urban legend that the ghosts of his victims appear in the tunnel. Dandadan's author, Tatsu, is from Saitama Prefecture, and the setting of Dandadan, Kamigoe City and Shono City, are based on Kawagoe City and Hanno City in Saitama Prefecture. Tsutomu Miyazaki has four victims, three of whom he kidnapped in Kawagoe City, Hanno City, and Iruma City in Saitama Prefecture. Miyazaki abandoned the bodies of his victims in the forest near Komine Pass in Tokyo, and at some point, rumors began to circulate that the ghosts of little girls appear in Komine Tunnel.
