The fact that these parents are basically calling their daughters ‘ugly’ is kinda heartbreaking to me. My mom works in the beauty industry and she DOES NOT do the bs that these moms do! She buys me and my brother chocolates and sweets every year for Easter, and asks us again and again at the start of the year “do we want chocolates for Easter this year” She doesn’t force beauty “standards” and social standards onto me, she accepts me for how I am as a teenage girl who doesn’t care about, nor like beauty and makeup If my mom ever got me beauty products for Easter I’d cry in sadness Tbh I’m kind of glad I don’t have TikTok, X (formerly Twitter), Facebook, or the rest of those social media apps (more like hatred society, be perfect in every way media apps), it’s a shock what some children have turned into (same with parents), and a shame too.

At this point in time, it’s safe to say the main concern of these holidays aren’t the kids anymore. It’s a way for parents to show off, and gain a following on social media. The only skincare kids should be obsessed with... is sunscreen. And I don't even think I saw that in any of these videos or tiktoks! I can get parents wanting to not give as much chocolate to their kids as a health choice instead, but there are so many better options! I personally, as a kid, would have lost my mind over a fruit basket for easter over a basket of chocolate, things like chocolate covered fruits and nuts too, or my mom would make different sort of balls with different ingredients that wouldn't even take that long to make with oats, honey, and peanut butter mixed with nuts and other stuff. Or make hard boiled eggs and paint them? I loved that so much as a kid!! This is just proof that tiktok is awful and should die. The fact that so many children are allowed on it, nvm unsupervised, and clearly their parents are okay with this is so wrong...

All social media is really is a place for rich, out of touch, privileged, awful people to display how they don't live in the same world as the rest of us. It's a place to brag about all the things they have, that the majority of people will never be able to attain. This makes me hate these "influencers" all the more.

Like I’m unable to have children due to my disability but the idea of having a kid right now with what seems to be expected by other parents currently is terrifying. Like the idea of giving my child a cute lil basket with maybe a couple dollar tree toys in it and then hiding a dollar in one of the eggs like my grandma did warms my heart, but realistically I’d probably be told I was being cheap and cruel to my kid

I'm glad someone can afford these ridiculously expensive presents, but it literally kills all the fun... As 24, i still can't wait for it, because it is special because of the time spent together. When i was little we decorated eggs with my mom. Idk if other countries has this tradition, but here boys come and splash the girls with water (or just throw an entire bucket at us, lol) in exchange for some gift, like candy, drinks or money. We don't have the time anymore but still sit down and play board games, and have fun together.

"I have never bought skin care, makeup, perfume, or phone products for my kids. Instead, I gave them an activity book, a couple of toys, and tons of candy on Easter. The most we ever spent on Easter baskets were the only two premade baskets we ever bought, and they cost us over a hundred dollars. However, we were fully disappointed with them, so I kept the baskets. Every year, as part of our family tradition, I would have my kids set their empty baskets on the living room table. While they were asleep, I would fill the baskets. For the comedic factor, I would make little bunny paw prints from the front door all the way to the table with little bunny dropping every now and again. My kids knew it was Easter and the Easter bunny had been there when they would hear me loudly complaining about how that darn bunny messed up my floors again. They would come running out of their rooms and I would be standing there with a broom and a mop. As they got older, I would set traps to catch the darn rabbit to prevent him from dirtying my floors. Every year my kids would sabotage my traps. sigh lol. Anyhow, we had two rules in our house - no Easter basket went above our budget of $50, and once you turn thirteen, Easter baskets are no longer given out."

I remember my parents getting me a Gameboy Advance game for Easter one year. She got one game for me and one for my brother. It was Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire versions way back in the early 2000's. Other items we got were candy, mostly those malt candies and jellybeans, and a few stuffed animals. I wish people would keep Easter baskets to toys and sweets. Games are the higher end item and will last longer than some harmful makeup/skincare. It would be sad to see traditions like egg hunts and egg painting go away. I would be sad too, even as a millennial adult, all I want for Easter is some fun seasonal chocolate! Literally the most expensive thing in my Easter baskets growing up was a DVD/Blu-ray movie (sometimes Easter related, sometimes not). I also got a bunny Webkinz when I was 9 and I was thrilled! (Remember Webkinz? That was THE SHIT in third grade, everyone wanted one. Skincare, what skincare?) Sometimes I would get some cheap little Easter themed toys/games too. And this is just all the non-candy items, there was always candy! When I was a kid, it was always implied that Easter was not Christmas, Christmas is where you get the 'big' gifts. But with Easter baskets this expensive like in the video, who even needs Christmas presents (or vice versa)?!

It's more important than Christmas I think! Christmas is when Jesus was born and Easter is when the purpose of his birth was fulfilled. As a Christian myself I find it kind of icky/unsettling to go to this level of gift buying for such an important religious day. Why are these kids getting baskets worth upwards of $200? 😅 The majority of people don't celebrate the religious aspect of it so I don't really understand why they are going to these lengths to celebrate a "bunny holiday"

I'm 17 (Turning 18 in 8 days woooo!!!!). My family and I still do Easter baskets despite me almost being an adult. This year my mom gave me a bunch of candy and chocolates and an adorable little purple Peeps bunny plush. She does this every year. The entire basket is candy plus ONE non-candy item that is generally less than $10 (usually around $5 even) like those cheap but cute holiday bracelets at Claire's or those iconic lip smackers flavored lip balms and whatnot. As much as I love skincare, makeup, and fancy things, Easter wouldn't feel the same without the candy and a little inexpensive but thoughtful gift. You don't need fancy stuff to make Easter a fun holiday, even when you're an older teen. If I want fancy stuff, I'll go buy it myself or request it for CHRISTMAS or my birthday, not Easter.

Only compared to the others. It's still a weird ass basket. A $5 starbucks gc isn't enough to even buy you a single drink there (and a 13 year old getting coffee??) What about Easter screams "beach"? Why is the Easter bunny bringing makeup and not snacks? You wanna know why? Because she can earn a commission on these products and can't on Easter candy. And you can earn a bigger commission on more expensive products, that's why the bigger channels push more expensive skincare in their kids' "Easter baskets" (aka. mommy makes a basket for herself, or even more likely, mommy films a video then returns all the products back to the store).
