OMG, you just saved me $150 just for the guy to come out and check! My actuator wasn't moving to the OFF position when we turned off the solar heater at the panel, so all this time, hot water has been pumping into the pool, and it's been like a soup this summer. Thanks to your video, I was able to locate the switch underneath and found that it was in the OFF position. I switched it to ON and the actuator immediately started to move to the OFF position! WOO!!! My pool will no longer be a bowl of soup this summer! THANK YOU!!!

Good video explaining the internal cams! Great job. I have a supplementary question - my current setup has the pool mode returning to both pool (mainly) and a bit of spa so it weirs and filters the spa as well. Spa mode sucks and returns to just the spa. Problem is here, in winter, I'm not swimming but am using the spa. When I return it to pool mode, all my hot water goes into the pool so I have to start from the pool temp if I want another spa. What is the way around that pls?

You may have to rephrase your question it’s a bit unclear but I’ll attempt to answer what I think your asking... Normal daily pool & spa operations in Pool mode are most of water circulation going to spa for the spillover / waterfall effect ( if spa is built to spill over into pool) and remaining circulation in pool. A pool spa combo are essentially two separate bodies of water of which the spa recycles water from the suction of pool body of water and returns the “spill over” from spa into pool. In spa mode the suction comes from spa M.D. and returns only back to spa, so pool suction and returns are off. A Heater (gas, heat pump, solar) does not know how distinguish between which body of water it’s heating, that why there’s directional valves controlling water flow direction. So, even tho a heater may have dual thermostat’s, these features are for the user to select their “Desired Temperature” for the body of water they choose to heat at that specific degree temperature. So on. Heat pump the “pool mode” may be set to 88^ and spa set to 100^. The operator may select the spa side function to heat to 100^ but if the water flow direction doesn’t change and is left to pool mode, that heater will heat until it reaches the “desired Temperature”. Now, what I think your wanting to do is when you want to heat your spa alone in these times of the year your not Swimming but want to sit in the spa alone and heat your spa, you’ll either have to buy and plumb in a secondary spa booster pump and re route the plumbing of the spa m.d. to the new booster pump( T’ing it off from the existing spa m.d. line leaving it plumbed to both pumps and controlling it with a 3 port valve) and the discharge side of the booster pump plumbing that into the main line going into the heater you have and installing check valves and directional valves in the correct place in order to achieve what I think you want to do. Also you’ll need to install some type of timer/ electronic device and run a new electrical circuit for this new pump. Hopefully this helps. Thanks for your comment and views

So should the toggle switch be set to forward or back and how do I know the solar panels which the actuator valve and control allow to operate is in fact working properly? Is there a way to test the actuator to be sure the valve is open? Thank you

I'm using this valve to send water to my pool jets or to send the water to my laminars. When I send the water to the jets my laminars are still trickling water. Even using it in manual mode I can not get it to stop the water from coming out the laminars completely. I think I have a faulty one.

No it was easy I’ll make a video when it warms up and I get my pool open my only concern was that the lights were older than 2018 but I am good had pool installed August 2019 so it would have been disappointing if my lights were older and not compatible but all is good transformer running lights is plugged into a gfci plug and it is powered from HVR1 relay 👍👍

Turning off the actuator valve by toggling switch in middle position is correct

If it’s stopping short, you’ll have to adjust inner cam and widen the rotation one or two notches more. Try one tooth groove at a time

Is it possible to have the internal cams support three different modes? 1) Pool/Spa combo, 2) Spa only, and 3) Pool only? Mine is currently set for #1 and #2. I'd like a Pool only mode

No. To have that setup your plumbing has to be designed for it which requires an additional valve.

I have no power to my hayward heating panel. Fuse was burnt. Replaced the fuse. No power burnt fuse again. Could it be my actuator?

Yes it could be, disconnect the actuator cable from board and check again.
