Just replaced the seal on my Hayward Ultra Pro. Your video was very helpful for the disassembly. My unit was a bit different when it came to the place where you hold the armature shaft when removing the impeller. There was a strange spring assembly and contacts over the screw. Once removed, I was amazed at how thin the impeller was. Mine was barely 1/4 inch! My pump is in pretty good condition so it came apart easy enough. No colourful language required LOL. Thanks for the help.

Hey guys thanks a lot I couldn’t have done this repair without your video. Fixing my old pump seal sure beats buying a new pump. Freeing the stuck impeller by removing the shaft and putting it in a vice worked. Brilliant!! Thanks again guys!!

Hayward give 1 yr warranty My pump is nearly 2 old and it’s already up for a new seal👎 Nice product . Consider buying ? consider maintenance every couple of years! I give it 1. 5 star rating !!!

In this video that are using a flat head screwdriver to hold the shaft firm. But if it is a strap wrench your asking about, you can get that at Home Depot. Hope this helps!

If you need a new seal, your existing one would be leaking. Check that first. Normally a leaky seal will not cause air in your return lines. That would be more either the pump cover, pump cover gasket, drain plug, or possibly the fittings going into the front of the pump. But when in doubt, call in a Pool Professional to check it out for you (or bring it to a pump repair shop, if one is near you). Thanks for watching :o)

thanks for the reply...no leaks...I removed the bottom basket and directly went into the pump. No water leaks anywhere...just dry as can be. I even pulled out the non- working water pressure gage and threw some more pipe thread tape on that. Still getting air bubbles in the pool return? I also noticed the pressure is not as strong. My buddy has an extra pump... going to try that.

Could also be a skimmer line leak, which would cause air to be sucked thru the pump and blown out thru your returns.
