Awesome! No music, no bs, just instruction presented clearly and completely! My motor is running great, but I have two problems, undoubtedly related. I have no water flowing and when I took the basket cover off the water was steaming hot, and the basket had melted! I kid you not. Thank you very much Mark! Basically I never tried to fix anything myself related to my pool until I saw this video, very clear and precise. My dual speed Hayward pump suddenly started leaking a little bit last week, I couldn't find any obvious leaking around the drain and pipes. Luckily I found your video and ordered the parts. Today I dismantled the pump and followed your instruction step by step, put everything back together after replacing the seals and gaskets. The only one thing different was that my impeller got stuck, I went to buy a strap wrench in the middle and it worked great. I'm still checking if the leaking really got fixed but I want to thank you for saving me 150 dollars by making this great video!

I will be doing this job today on my crusty Hayward pump (driven by a Century HST110, 1.1HP motor). The only thing I would ad is IF your pump is still wired (like mine), turn OFF the circuit breaker(s) for the pump and use a multimeter to confirm AC power is disconnected. Hi Mark, excellent and clear video. I wish I had seen it before I started my motor replacement - would have saved me a lot of time and some grief. I especially appreciate the clear and accurate description of the orientation of the seal on the impeller- a really important detail neglected or glossed over in several other videos (one - the first one I watched - was actually backwards). Two suggestions: first, I second an earlier comment about the warning not to touch the white (ceramic or teflon?) part of the seal ring with one’s fingers. Several admonishments on other videos that may cause premature failure (although I haven’t found manufacturer’s documentation supporting that). Second, the inner metal part of the old seal may stay in place when one removes it off the impeller shaft (especially if several years old). To an amateur, it looks like part of the shaft, especially considering the keying appears to line up with the keying on the new seal (if it’s backwards). The seal will not seat properly and will friction load the motor badly. (I think you may have mentioned it on your Pentair seal replacement video, but not here). Again, great video. As you may be able to tell, I’ve seen at least 8-10 over the last day trying to put all the puzzle pieces together for why this motor replacement didn’t work the first time for me. Your videos are definitely a cut above most in quality and technical accuracy. Appreciate your excellent work.
