The moment Vaggie started walking towards Em, I knew everything would be okay, she’d been through it all before, and had been fortunate enough to have Charlie find her and take her in… so it makes perfect sense that seeing Emily in the same situation, Vaggie would know EXACTLY what she needs in that moment. Vaggie is a SERIOUSLY STRONG contender for Best Girl in the series, right up there with Charlie herself.

If it does happen, Sera won’t be acting like she did here, she’ll be silent, head turned away in shame. I truly do believe Sera Loves Emily, she wouldn’t go to such lengths to keep her safe if she didn’t, road to Hell is paved with good intentions and all that, the problem is it may not be up to Sera. Lute is set to become a Major player in Heaven, and with Adam’s death, now has the motivation to do so. We already know that Lute is a hardliner when it comes to the rules, and if Emily steps out of line just a little bit, you can BET that Lute will use her influence to get Emily banished. Would Sera fight such a decision? That’s more debatable, I’d like to say with absolute confidence that she would, but Sera is also kind of a stickler for the rules, and Lute could use that against her. Sir Pentious is also not going to make things easier for poor Emily. I’m almost 100% confident that Emily will form an immediate friendship with the Chad Snake boi, purely because it proves she and Charlie were right, Souls CAN be redeemed… but will Heaven see it that way? Will they accept that truth? Most likely not, especially not at first, and with Lute stirring up trouble, I can easily see Sir Pentious becoming a point of political friction in Heaven. In summary, even IF Sera defends Emily, she will FAIL, and Emily will be banished, regardless of Sera’s actions… well, that’s My Head-Cannon anyway 😉

My theory is that Emily will either not push things too far, purely out of fear, or something else will happen. My current Head-cannon is that Lute is going to become a Major Antagonist/Villain in future seasons, and will strive to take control of all Heaven for herself, so that she can raise an Army and return to Hell to exact revenge for Adam’s death (I’ve detailed a full Head-Cannon for that on a comic dub that portrayed an alternate ending of episode 8, where Lute sacrifices herself for Adam). Sera does nothing to stop Lute of course, simply out of indecision or Lute convincing/blackmailing her to stand aside and let it happen. Emily meanwhile does not, and either THIS causes her to be banished to Hell, as Lute will jump at the chance to remove an obstacle, or Lute will straight up try to murder her, while simultaneously framing Emily as a traitor (much like she did to Vaggie). One way or another, Emily ends up in Hell, either banished or wounded, as its her only safe refuge, in either case I see Sir Pentious going with her, likely because Lute has it out for him too, and he’d very much be interested in warning his friends.

But she's also a seraphim, it's almost her duty to know that and to do something about that. And this possibility of the fall. Neat comic, I love that fellow fallen angel Vaggie just gives her hug, knowing what she's going through. Pretty sure that Sera's warning was about the possibility something like with Sir Pentious, falling just happening automatically with outside input, from how she tries to justify her actions I'd see her twisting her logic inside out to avoid punishing Emily. Personally I like the idea of Emily causing her own fall on purpose in response to Sera digging her heels on the issue of the exterminations. Something like Emily being unable to stomach not helping potentially redeemable sinners and seeing no other way with Sera stubbornly stonewalling her to protect her preferred status quo. You can just see a graphic scene of her ripping off her Halo, calling back to Lute ripping off her trapped arm.

If you were about to be sent away from Home with no hope of returning, just because you dared to ask the hard questions, sent to a place that is to be quite frank, a pit of depravity, violence and death, and you had no knowledge of how to defend yourself, or navigate this place… would you not be terrified as well, and willing to do ANYTHING to gain mercy? Also, Emily never made any excuses, she just begged Sera not to leave her there. As to Charlie and Vaggie, I can understand Emily thinking that they paint her with the same brush as the rest of the Angels, so her being afraid of retribution from them is understandable… Vaggie quickly dissuades her of that notion however with that Embrace, as Vaggie has firsthand experience of exactly what Emily is feeling in that moment, and also knows that Emily, despite being older, is not as strong as her emotionally. Vaggie is a trained soldier, used to hardship and pain… Emily has lived a life of privilege and plenty since she was born. After all, it takes only one look for Vaggie to know that Emily is on the verge of breaking down… better that happen in the safety and comfort of a friends arms, than by herself in some alleyway. Vaggie is best girl, change my mind.
