It's not that the Eggs don't care, it's just that they were born (Made? I don't really know where he gets them...) to follow orders. They don't really mind who their boss is so long as they have orders. So when Pentious told them they had to leave, that was their order, so they left without a fuss. It's clear Pentious cares for them despite their disposability.

One of my favorite moments is while Carmilla is singing what ever it takes, she looks to Zestial as one of the ones she's trying to protect, and his reaction shows surprise. Those is why i love Camilla's character. She's deep and extremely respectful.
