Theory time! Sera says that the reason they started the exterminations was because Hell was rising up against them but from what we've seen Hell doesn't have any intentions of rising up. Lucifer is too depressed to lead a rebellion and the Sins seem to be focussed on managing their own circles. Velvet floats the idea but the other Overlords (including Zestial who's an old Overlord) vote against it for fear of being wiped out completely. We know that Hellborn demons are exempt from the exterminations and that Lucifer had a hand in getting Heaven to agree. But that must have happened for a reason and my theory is that Lilith was organising a rebellion using the Hellborns and the deal was struck to prevent Hell from being annihilated. Charlie's story in episode 1 suggests that Lilith took to ruling Hell much more readily than Lucifer, and between her treatment from Adam and Heaven casting her into Hell she has the motivation. Perhaps that's why Lilith disappeared 7 years ago, to prepare for rebellion in secret. Maybe that's why Alastor also disappeared for 7 years and why he's supposedly "on a leash". He made some sort of contract with Lilith.
@LuciLovesDucks9 ай бұрын
I agree with everything you said except Lilith organizing a rebellion with hellborns. I think she has a vendetta against Adam and heaven, and was organizing a rebellion with sinners. That's why I think the angels specifically target sinners because they were the original threat to begin with, considering how overpopulated they are and how they can only die from angelic weaponry. My theory is that the heaven elders noticed this uprising and basically forced Lucifer to agree to the yearly exterminations of sinners to keep the problem at bay, or risk an all out war which would an absolute massacre for hell (not to mention risking Charlie's safety). Lucifer probably agreed with the exterminations only with the condition that they pardon Charlie and the other hellborns from exterminations as they are innocents and had no involvement with the said uprising rebellion. It would also give a good reason on why Lucifer and Lilith aren't together anymore, because Lilith does care about hell, and the yearly exterminations would put a big set back to her plans. She likely felt disgusted and betrayed by her husband, left him and took Charlie with her when she was just a little girl. It's also possible Lilith is the reason why Charlie and Lucifer had an estranged relationship with each other to begin with. She likely convinced Charlie that her dad didn't care about her (which we know is untrue) so she could shape her daughters perception of heaven and hell the way she wants and have her daughter on her side, not her fathers.

That is a good theory that would be nuts if true.

I started to theorize that Vaggie might be an angel in episode 1 when they first showed us Lute. I couldn’t help but notice that the “X” on Lute’s left eye when she wears the Exorcist mask was so similar to the “X” on Vaggie’s left eye. There were some small hints throughout the next few episodes too. Vaggie’s militaristic demeanor, how she refers to the demons of Hell as “your people” to Charlie instead of saying “our people”. It also got me thinking as to why Vaggie was in Hell in the first place since she and Charlie are pretty much the only two nice and decent people in Hell. Then I realized it was because Charlie was born in Hell while Vaggie was a fallen angel and suddenly it all made sense. Glad episode 6 confirmed all of my theories.

I'm pretty sure Alastor has an x that appears on his forehead in a few scenes where it passes pretty quickly, and unless his entire presumed backstory of being a Louisiana serial killer in the 1920's that died to being shot in the head is just invalid now, I don't think the X mark is symbolic of someone being an angel, but just an indication of somewhere they took some damage.

Vaggie's hair kinda made me think of Adam's robes. The fact that they share the same feather stripe as the wings as well seemed like a clue. This. It reminds me of a thought I once had when I figured out why those screaming religion bothered me so much. People (not all but some) who preach that a guy loving a guy is blasphemy and a horrible sin, and yet you hear stories of priests and other religious leaders getting caught doing horrible things to children, including young boys. Not only are they defiling innocence of children, which in itself should be a red flag, but they are grown men praying on young boys. is that not also a (very disgusting) form of guy with guy? The same thing they shun so adamantly? Sooo.... are they not hypocrites that don't even deserve their position if they are so willing to commit the sinful acts they preach against? How is that suppose to spread the word of their god in a good light? And it's more than just that issue. There's preachers all over who spread messages of hate and try to bring politics into their walls of worship that's meant to be free of that? They burn books, they go after specific groups and people just because they don't see the world in the same way as they do, and they're supposed to be sharing the word of an "all" loving and "all" forgiving deity? There's a MASSIVE problem with that, and until it changes then I won't take that religion seriously. I'll continue to live my life as a good person, doing no harm and wishing no ill will towards anyone. I don't need a religious figure to tell me how to be a good person. I'll figure it out on my own through personal struggles of endurance and self discovery. If I get it right in the end, then Yay! If not, well then at least I'll know I gave it a good try. If there really is a bearded sky fairy waiting to judge me in the end, then he can judge me on that.

I hope we see more of Heaven. It feels like Emily may be the glimpse into Heaven’s conspiracy. Whatever’s behind the curtain, as I think she’s meant to be the Heavenly counterpart to Charlie. Knowing that at least a few Angel’s sympathize and understand Charlie’s plight, shows that things aren’t so impossible as they seek. They both see the moral grays and wrongs in it all, and they both are part of a new generation, many say kids are the future, but many fear that Charlie could accidentally cause a war. You really get the feeling, that Lilith, Adam, and a few others from either side, are insome sort of conspiracy involving Heaven and Hell.

I think in one episode someone says "God" but like in an explicative way not referring to him. But in Helluva Boss when we see the Cherubs and heaven there are motivational posters with rules from God in the background. Which makes me think God does exist but just created the angels and just left them to their own devices. Which is probably why the Seraphim and the angels don't actually know what gets someone in heaven, cuz they're basically kids playing with their dad's power tools. Which I think is also why they kicked out Lucifer, because he wasn't listening to the rules and because they didn't actually create the rules they're just following them, they didn't know what else to do besides kicking him off

I’ve had a long running theory that: Lilith has been perpetuating the cycle for her own gain. She’s the mastermind behind a conspiracy that involves people she controls, in Heaven and in Hell. That she wants war to break out, for Charlie to accidentally corrupt Heaven to be as perverse and cruel as Hell. So after the carnage has killed many on either side, she can force more to join her, and kill the rest that oppose her, with a secret weapon that can decimate all who resist her, demons, angels, or sinners: Eve. Now the root of all evil. Lilith could have Eve locked away as a weapon/prisoner, and force her to slaughter more souls. The rest of the Angels that aren’t Exterminators, may not have any experience in knowing how to defend themselves, or combat. A common enemy would then force sinners to help defend Angels, as they’d know working together could be the only way to stop Lilith.
@cyberwolf_10139 ай бұрын
It would actually work better if Emily remained in Heaven and fought from the seat of power she holds. Just like in real life the underdogs fighting and trying to change things in the streets can't do it on their own they need advocacy from the more powerful of society as well.

This show is so cathartic. It has so much heart, ambition and talent. Every song is fighting to be stuck in my head. The characters are so fun, so horrible, so rich and amazing. I love hating Adam and Lute (I imagine Lute will be a favorite villain of mine). It feels so beautiful that it was Angel Dust's soul that shook Heaven. (Look for Angel Dust's sister in the Welcome to Heaven song, btw!) It could have been so easy to just paint Heaven as big mean snobby bullies, but introducing Emily and Sera, and in just one episode, blow the lore wide open. Sera is afraid of angels falling. But what happens if Emily falls (for Charlie...)? And your reactions have been so rich, expressive, silly, and fascinating. I love the conversations and the different perspectives. Looking forward to more of this addicting show and your reactions.

The "Welcome to Heaven" song has lyrics that mention how it's "another happy day in Heaven", a direct paralel to Charlie's "I got the feeling that today is gonna be a happy day in Hell". And the "You didn't know" song has a repise of "Hell is forever". Also, there are similitudes between Lucifer and Sera: they want to protect their young ones, but in doing so they are harming then in the long run. Lucifer distanced himself from his daughter as a way to prevent her from becoming a dreamer like him and getting broken by Heaven, but in doing so Charlie grew up desperately trying to prove herself to be worthy of attention. Sera knew that her younger sister was a dreamer like Lucifer was, and tried to protect her by lying to her, otherwise she could end up fallen like Lucifer, but now Emily knows the truth and no longer trusts Sera.

It's neat in the angel flashback Vaggie and Charlie were wearing her pilot outfits. My concern is that Sera does have a legitimate reason and it depends on if they make Lilith a twist villain that actually been trying to garner demon forces to invade Heaven.

16:15 I like that break with "if hell is forever then heaven must be a lie if angels can do whatever and remain in the sky the rules are shades of grey when you don't do as you say when you make the wretched suffer just to kill them again" there glowing eyes while they speak the point it's just so cinematic to me.

Vaggie being revealed as a fallen angel is quite a shock, but none of it mounts to who was betraying who up in Heaven. Now we have an ally in Emily. She and Charlie see through the deception and Adam there is part of the problem. It’s pretty clear he holds a grudge against Charlie because why else would he be going after her directly and her hotel? It’s out of pure spite because her mother Lilith rejected his ways in favor of Lucifer many years ago before Charlie was even born.

"This could be a Broadway musical" The majority of the cast, even the minor characters are voiced by Broadway actors/actresses, that's why the songs are so damn GOOD.

I kinda knew Vaggie was an Angel because of the patterns in her hair. It is the same as the exorcists wing pattern and it resembles Adams robes. Then fans pointed out the X mark on her eye and on the masks exorcists wear. That sold it for me. So the reveal was more like "Hmm thought so"....😮😂

*“If Hell is forever then Heaven must be a lie, if angels can do whatever and remain in the sky, the rules are shades of gray when you don’t do as you say when you make the wretched suffer just to kill them again”* Truer words have never been sung. If angels can fall then why can’t demons rise? I would never want to go to any afterlife where they are so elitist and bigoted that even if a demon lived up to their standards they still couldn’t be allowed in.

"This could be a Broadway musical" Yes, yes it could. The way the dialogue flows into song and the structures of the songs themselves are very theater. Not to mention basically every voice actor with the exception of Alastor's has Broadway credits in major productions.

Definitely looking forward to the next two episodes on February 2nd to seeing what happens and what cliffhanger there will be leading into hopefully a 2nd season

Based on Sera's reaction when Emily asks why Angel isn't in Heaven after he showed himself getting better, she does know what allows a soul into Heaven. And it's not their virtue. My theory is that it's obedience. Adam is clearly an asshole, but he never strayed from the path set for him by God, so he was allowed past the gates of Heaven. Lucifer is a decent guy, at least to Charlie, but he was a rebel cast out for not obeying his father. Sera even hints at this when she tells Emily not to doubt their system or risk falling, as Lucifer did. You can also see absolute fear in her face when Emily denounces Heaven during her duet with Charlie. Bringing it back to Angel, we know that he does not have a good relationship with his father and likely rebelled against his mob family parents many times throughout his life, including the fact that Angel's father apparently disapproves of his sexuality.

I just realized that Adam addresses Vaggie by name as soon as he enters the room without needing an introduction, despite the fact that Vaggie never went near the Heaven embassy in episode one and didn't give her name at the gate to St. Peter... which means Adam should have no way to know what her name is, if Vaggie were merely some random Sinner working for Charlie. On top of all the foreshadowing earlier in the show, they're telling you in the very same scene that Vaggie and Adam have a pre-existing history in a blink-and-you'll-miss-it.

Now vaggies line in the song from ep 4 makes more sense "i felt like a stranger in a brand new place" it was foreshadowing to the fact she was literally a stranger in a brand new place

Honestly I heard people theorise Vaggie was once an Angel and even though I had w feeling it was true, I was still shocked to see how brutal it was. I dont think Charlie is the type of person to care too much about her being an Angel given her empathy for others, though I do still see it causing some problems. I honestly hate Adam and Lute for what they did, even if Adam is funny at times. I also love seeing the character development of Angel Dust growing so mcuh as a person and after his time with Husk he's starting to care about Charlie and the other tenants, even saying they are his friends and finally standing up to that s***head Valentino. I also had a feeling Heaven would be corrupt about the rules too and I got chills when Emily and Charlie had their harmonic duet, and how they flipped Hell is Forever on Adam. Hopefully Emily helps out Charlie in the finale.

They left clues about Vaggie throughout the show so well. The X, the spear, her beliefs, how similar she looked to Lute, and the fact that she didn't have any obvious sinner qualities. But with all those clues, there were other totally viable explanations so it wasn't obvious. I kinda wonder if the duet with Vaggie and Carmine was done intentionally to show that they look and act fairly similar so that Vaggie didn't look as out of place as she seems in hindsight. Alternate explanations for the clues in case anyone thought it was too obvious: - The eye X is usually on an exorcist's mask, not their actual face so it's a weird parallel to draw as Lute doesn't have any X's on her face without the mask - She could have picked up the spear left behind after an extermination, that's how Camilla Carmine acquired all her angelic steel - She calls the sinners 'your people' to Charlie as Charlie is literally a princess and they're technically her subjects. And as Charlie and Vaggie are only dating and not married, it could seem presumptuous to call them her people when she has no authority over them - She has a military tone occasionally and that could have been explained as her being in the military in life and she ended up in hell because of what she did during a war (also she was all too happy to kill Sir Pentious when they caught him so she has a bit of a violent streak that made her fit in a bit better in hell) - A lot of other hell born or sinners look very humanoid and similar to Lute too, like the cannibals, Camilla and her kids, and Mimzy The only bit that seems off is that angels are supposed to have golden blood, and I have a hard time believing that she never bled once in front of Charlie in those 3 years they were together since hell gets pretty violent (they constantly have their hotel wall getting blown up in their faces)
